CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58: RECURRENCE OF GASTRIC ILLNESS

The car quickly approached.

The two little ones swiftly claimed the back seat in perfect unison, and Estelle Sterling quickly shut the door, locking Eleanor Sterling outside.

’Bang’ — a crisp sound.

Eleanor Sterling stood there, gritting her teeth as she looked at the two similar smiling faces behind the window glass.

In the end, Eleanor could only sit in the front passenger seat.

She sat down, trying her best to ignore Alaric Faulkner’s presence, treating him as just an ordinary chauffeur.

The car smoothly cruised down the road.

Eleanor turned her head to look at the scenery passing by outside; only then did she remember that Alaric Faulkner had brought Caleb Faulkner to have a meal with her. Could it be that Faye Sterling didn’t stop them?

With her scheming mind, that woman would have caused a fuss to prevent them from coming, right?

Could it be that he came secretly, without telling Faye Sterling?

Just as Eleanor was lost in her wild thoughts, the car suddenly made an emergency stop, and she was thrown forward by inertia. She turned her head, just about to ask Alaric Faulkner what he was doing.

But she saw his face turn pale, and his forehead was covered in cold sweat.

"What’s wrong with you?"

Alaric’s jawline was tightly clenched. He took a deep breath and then slowly pulled the car to the side.

Eleanor noticed his face turn even paler as he clutched his stomach. She asked, "Are you having stomach pain?"

At this time, Caleb spoke from the back seat: "Mom, it seems Dad’s stomach disease has relapsed. You need to think of something quickly."

Stomach disease?

Could it be because of the spicy hotpot earlier?

For a moment, Eleanor didn’t know what to say. She took out the silver needles she carried with her from her bag.

"Bear with it. I’ll help alleviate the pain a bit first."

After saying that, she began to apply acupuncture to Alaric’s hand.

Eleanor’s acupuncture technique was indeed magical. After a few needles, Alaric didn’t feel as uncomfortable.

After a while, Alaric was no longer sweating profusely and looked much better.

Eleanor turned her head and glanced outside the window, noticing there was a pharmacy right by the road.

"Wait here. I’ll go buy some medicine for your stomach."

Silver needles are indeed miraculous, but they’re better suited for recuperation. Medication works faster for acute problems.

Eleanor got out of the car to buy medicine and returned shortly after.

She handed Alaric a bottle of water and carefully unwrapped the medication, handing it to him.

Alaric turned his head to look at the white pill in her palm. He held her hand and took the pill directly from her hand into his mouth.

His cool, thin lips brushed against her palm, sending an electric shock through her, making Eleanor’s heart tremble and her whole body feel numb.

Eleanor instinctively pulled her hand back, her palm still tingling with the lingering sensation of Alaric’s lips, unsure of where to place her hand.

She silently scolded herself inwardly.

For heaven’s sake, he could have taken the medicine himself; why did he have to use her hand?

With Alaric not feeling well, Eleanor didn’t voice her reproach.

Seeing Alaric swallow the pill, his Adam’s apple moved up and down as he drank half a bottle of water.

Eleanor asked, "How do you feel? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

"No need, it’s an old issue. I’ll be fine after resting a bit."

Because of his busy work schedule and irregular meals, Alaric’s stomach isn’t good, and eating spicy food triggers his stomach issues.

Recalling she hadn’t asked Alaric whether he could handle spicy food earlier, causing his condition to flare up, Eleanor felt a bit guilty.

She sincerely said, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know you can’t handle spicy food."

"It’s okay, Caleb enjoyed it very much."

Eleanor was momentarily stunned. So, as long as Caleb was happy, it didn’t matter how he felt?

Glancing at Alaric, she suddenly realized that he was, in fact, a good father.

"Can you still drive? How about I drive instead?"

Alaric initially intended to say he could, but within seconds, he unexpectedly changed his mind and admitted he’d rather not.

"Okay, thank you."
