Twins Reunite: Bringing Mom and Dad Together!
Chapter 886: What Unforgivable Mistake
CHAPTER 886: CHAPTER 886: WHAT UNFORGIVABLE MISTAKE
Knock knock, the sound of knocking on the study door pulled Xavier Keating’s thoughts back. He looked toward the door, "Come in."
"Uncle Xavier, are you busy?"
Three small heads peeked in; it was Estelle Sterling, Caleb Faulkner, and Elara together.
"Not really, what’s up? Do you need something?"
Estelle Sterling grinned and said, "We have something we’d like to ask you."
Xavier Keating smiled slightly, put down what he was doing, and said, "Sure, come in."
The three of them immediately opened the door and came in, then sat in a row on the sofa in the study, looking especially well-behaved and obedient.
Xavier Keating’s heart instantly softened. He quite liked Eleanor Sterling’s kids, but by comparison, he just couldn’t bring himself to like his own illegitimate daughter.
Estelle Sterling’s eyes darted, and she asked, "Uncle Xavier, is it true that my future aunt is going to marry someone else?"
Xavier Keating didn’t expect the kids to come to him about this matter. They’re really little rascals with big ideas.
He smiled wryly, nodded, and said, "Yes, that’s right. Because your uncle made some mistakes, she couldn’t forgive me, so she’s going to marry someone else."
Caleb Faulkner asked with curiosity, "What mistake couldn’t be forgiven? Not even after apologizing?"
Hearing this, Xavier Keating fell silent.
If it weren’t for that child, there might still be room for reconciliation. But that child was the biggest obstacle, an insurmountable chasm.
The emotional entanglements between adults couldn’t be explained to the kids. Xavier Keating sighed silently, touched Caleb Faulkner’s head, and said, "No, apologizing didn’t help either."
"Then... then if she forgives you, would you be with her?"
Xavier Keating smiled bitterly. "It’s impossible now."
He understood Wendy Carson’s nature. Though she was gentle and considerate, she was very principled. If she had really made up her mind, there was no possibility of changing it.
So, Xavier Keating could only endure the pain, watching helplessly as she married Carter Sharp.
The Keating and Sharp families were opposing households. Their sons had received the best education since childhood. Carter Sharp wasn’t too bad, so Xavier Keating was somewhat relieved.
Estelle Sterling and Caleb Faulkner exchanged glances. They, being little rascals with big ideas, genuinely saw through his feelings for their aunt and knew his inner pain.
So their purpose of investigation was complete, and they could go back to report to Eleanor Sterling.
Xavier Keating had an internal struggle, then looked at the three and said, "Uncle Xavier has a daughter around your age. You can go see her sometime."
"Okay, we’ll make sure to get to know her properly."
Estelle Sterling pulled Caleb Faulkner off the sofa and said, "Then we won’t disturb Uncle Xavier’s work anymore."
Caleb Faulkner was somewhat reluctant; he hadn’t finished asking questions yet.
But Estelle Sterling gave him a look, signaling him to hurry out. Reluctantly, Caleb turned, pulling Elara with him, and the three left together.
As they were pulled out of the study by Estelle Sterling, Caleb Faulkner couldn’t help but ask, "Little Star, are we leaving just like that?"
Estelle Sterling huffed lightly, "Let’s go. We’re going to meet the culprit responsible for Uncle Xavier and Aunt’s fallout."
Curiosity filled Caleb Faulkner’s eyes. Now he was quite intrigued by that person. Since this was the case, he’d go meet her with Estelle Sterling!
He showed a meaningful smile. If necessary, he could teach her a lesson.
"Let’s go, let’s go, let’s hurry over and have a look."
