Chapter 115: After Divorce Comes the Engagement Discussion
CHAPTER 115: CHAPTER 115: AFTER DIVORCE COMES THE ENGAGEMENT DISCUSSION
Damien Lancaster was caught off guard, staggered back a step as she pushed him, using his hand to brace against the back.
Ivy Summers had already stood up and ran out.
A bus had just stopped ahead, and Ivy Summers got on immediately.
By the time Damien Lancaster realized he had been tricked by Ivy Summers again, it was too late.
Damien Lancaster’s thin lips pressed tightly into a line.
That damned woman only knew how to deceive him.
And yet, every time he fell for her ruse.
Ivy Summers sat at the very back of the bus, watching the scenery whiz by outside. Perhaps it was the wind getting into her eyes, but her eyes reddened.
The bus drove a certain distance, then suddenly stopped.
A commotion erupted at the front.
"Someone’s actually chasing our bus! And it’s a luxury car!"
"Look quick, he’s getting out! Oh my God, he’s so handsome! Who is he, some young master from a wealthy family?"
"He’s heading towards our bus, he’s really coming towards our bus."
Amidst the excited cheers, Ivy Summers looked up and saw the crowd on the bus making way for the approaching man.
And standing before her was none other than Damien Lancaster himself.
Damien Lancaster didn’t know whether to laugh at Ivy Summers’ naiveté or not. She couldn’t escape his grasp even on a plane, let alone by bus.
"Get off the bus."
Ivy Summers gritted her back teeth, unmoved.
"Do I need to invite you?"
Without giving Ivy Summers a chance to resist, Damien Lancaster grabbed her wrist and directly picked her up horizontally.
This time, Ivy Summers didn’t struggle, raising her hand and delivering a slap across Damien Lancaster’s face, "Smack!"
The slap turned Damien Lancaster’s face to the side, his dark short hair casting a shadow over his forehead, his eyes hidden within the shadow, revealing no emotion.
At this moment, the pressure was incredibly low.
The people on the bus all held their breath, staring at the couple.
Everyone thought the man would be furious over the slap, but he suddenly chuckled lightly, looking back at the woman in his arms.
"Try hitting me again."
Try it she did.
Ivy Summers gave him another slap!
Suddenly, the entire atmosphere froze.
Damien Lancaster stared coldly at Ivy Summers, who was full of hatred. It was unknown whether he was angry, but a strange smirk appeared at the corner of his lips, "Very well, Ivy Summers."
Very well.
Damien Lancaster carried Ivy Summers off the bus and threw her directly into the car.
The car drove back to the Imperial Bay Villa, which was the home when Ivy Summers and Damien Lancaster were married.
After Ivy Summers left, Damien Lancaster rarely stayed there, but there were always servants maintaining the house.
At the villa, Damien Lancaster dragged Ivy Summers directly to the room, throwing her onto the bed. His forefinger lightly brushed over the corner of his lips; those two slaps from Ivy Summers were hard, and he could even taste blood.
Up to now, he had lost count of how many slaps he had received from Ivy Summers.
Thinking of this, Damien Lancaster found it surprising that his temper was good enough to give her such boldness.
"From today onwards, you’re moving back here. You are still my wife, my only wife."
Ivy Summers let out a cold laugh.
Wife?
What an amusing title.
Damien Lancaster turned and left, closing the door. He called two doctors to check if Ivy Summers had aggravated any injuries.
Julian Jacobs also returned with the results of his investigation.
Damien Lancaster went downstairs, where Julian Jacobs waited respectfully.
Damien Lancaster sat on the sofa, poured himself a glass of water, and spoke coldly, "Speak."
"Sir, it’s confirmed that Miss Shaw was behind this."
Damien Lancaster frowned, "Rachel Shaw?"
Julian Jacobs nodded; he had checked the surveillance. After the divorce papers were left in Damien Lancaster’s office, only Rachel Shaw had been there.
The answer was very obvious now.
Julian Jacobs had suspected Rachel Shaw at the civil registry, but without evidence, he hadn’t mentioned it.
Now the evidence was solid.
"Yes, sir, Miss Shaw entered your office twice, spending more than an hour there. Later, I gave the divorce agreement to Mrs. Lancaster, and during that time, only Miss Shaw had the opportunity to swap the documents."
Damien Lancaster’s cold eyes narrowed.
"Sir, how should this matter be handled?"
Damien Lancaster pressed his lips tightly shut, saying nothing. Julian Jacobs stood there, apprehensive and afraid to speak.
After all, it was he who had been sent to handle this matter, giving Rachel Shaw the opportunity, and causing Damien Lancaster to lose face at the civil registry.
Unsure of what punishment awaited him.
"Go find Rachel Shaw."
"Yes."
Julian Jacobs felt like a condemned man receiving a reprieve and hurried off to find Rachel Shaw.
...
At this moment, Rachel Shaw was still immersed in the joy of Damien Lancaster divorcing Ivy Summers, believing she would soon become Mrs. Lancaster.
Today, Gregory Lancaster and Seraphina Kennedy had also personally approached her, telling her they would organize an engagement banquet for her and Damien Lancaster.
Rachel Shaw’s heart raced with excitement.
Just then, a knock came at the door.
With permission, Julian Jacobs entered, "Miss Shaw, sir wants to see you."
"Damien wants to see me?" Rachel Shaw hesitated, cautiously asking, "Is there a particular reason he wants to see me?"
’You’re in trouble.’ Julian Jacobs thought silently but maintained a neutral expression, "Miss Shaw, you’ll know when you get there; it’s not convenient for me to say more."
Seeing Julian Jacobs’ expression, Rachel Shaw felt uneasy, but she couldn’t refuse to see Damien Lancaster.
Rachel Shaw darted her eyes around and said, "Let me change my clothes."
"Alright."
Julian Jacobs stepped out, and Rachel Shaw quickly called Gregory Lancaster and Seraphina Kennedy, then called Phillip Shaw and Penelope Page.
After doing all this, she felt a little calmer.
...
Imperial Bay Villa.
"Sir, Miss Shaw has been brought in."
Damien Lancaster sat in the living room, smoking, and upon hearing those words, he slightly lifted his eyelids and glanced at the slightly nervous woman before him.
Regarding Rachel Shaw, Damien Lancaster still held some affection from growing up together, and he hadn’t planned to hold previous actions against her.
But she seemed insistent on exhausting that affection recklessly.
"Damien... Damien, you wanted to see me?"
Damien Lancaster continued smoking, saying nothing.
Rachel Shaw swallowed hard in her nervousness, finding the man before her filled with danger at this moment.
Recalling the time Damien Lancaster had questioned her with his hands around her neck, Rachel Shaw felt a chill.
"Is your hand itching?" Damien Lancaster lifted an eyelid, speaking mildly.
"Huh?"
Rachel Shaw didn’t understand what Damien Lancaster meant.
With a "smack," Damien Lancaster tossed the divorce papers onto the crystal table.
Rachel Shaw flinched in fear, and upon seeing the divorce papers, thought: It’s over!
At this moment, the front door was knocked, the servant went to open it.
Then came the voices of Seraphina Kennedy and Gregory Lancaster, followed by Phillip Shaw and Penelope Page.
Under Damien Lancaster’s gaze, the four of them entered with faces full of joy.
Damien Lancaster frowned, "Why are you all here?"
Seraphina Kennedy smiled, "Damien, we heard from Rachel that you’ve divorced Ivy Summers, which is wonderful, you’ve finally come around. Since you and Ivy are divorced, you should finalize the wedding with Rachel, and we’re here to discuss your wedding."
Penelope Page continued, "Yes, it’s such a joyous occasion, Old Man Shaw is so happy he went to check out wedding venues, this celebration is going to be splendid."
Phillip Shaw nodded, "Damien, Rachel is the apple of our eye, now that she’s marrying you, you must treat her well."
Gregory Lancaster laughed, "Rest assured, if Damien doesn’t treat Rachel well, I won’t let him off."
The four of them entered with joy.
A tense and fearful Rachel Shaw.
An irate Damien Lancaster.
Thus, a bizarre tension filled the living room...
