CHAPTER 117: CHAPTER 117: WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO TAKE MY DAD AWAY?

"No need, I’m coming down right now."

Hmm?

What?

Ivy Summers looked down and met Damien Lancaster’s eyes filled with anger.

"Ah!"

Startled, her hand slipped, and she fell straight down.

Damien stepped forward and caught her.

Just halfway down, Ivy thought she would break something, but instead, she fell into a strong, broad embrace and instinctively wrapped her arms around Damien’s neck.

The expected pain didn’t come. Ivy opened her eyes to find Damien staring at her.

Ivy forcefully pushed him away and climbed down from him.

Damien released her, calmly watching as she nervously adjusted her clothes, "Escaping, Ivy Summers, you’re quite something."

Ivy gritted her teeth, "You’re crazy, let me go."

Not getting a divorce and still being trapped here, Ivy felt she was at a huge loss.

"Where to? Isn’t this your home?"

"Home? Ridiculous." Ivy dusted off her clothes, "This is your home, not mine."

"Well then, leave."

Ivy looked in shock, staring at Damien.

He was letting her go?

Not trapping her anymore?

"I can go?"

Damien nodded.

Ivy tentatively walked out, and Damien didn’t stop her.

She walked a few more steps, reaching the door, and Damien still didn’t stop her.

Ivy wondered if Damien had suddenly changed.

Was he really just letting her go?

Watching Ivy’s retreating figure, Damien faintly smiled.

Julian Jacobs approached Damien, confused, "Sir, why did you let madam leave again?"

"Those who want to leave can’t be stopped."

"Then..."

"Let her come back on her own."

Damien’s tone was calm, yet Julian could sense his confidence in it.

...

Ivy returned to the hospital, where Sophie had just finished her check-up.

Seeing Ivy, Sophie was so happy that the words "mommy" almost slipped out, but with Damien’s people around, she held back.

"Pretty auntie, you came to see Sophie."

With a gentle smile, Ivy walked over, "How’s Sophie recovering?"

"The doctor says Sophie is doing really well now." Sophie beamed at Ivy.

Ivy gently touched Sophie’s head, aware of the two people watching, so she didn’t dare to be too affectionate with Sophie.

However, Ivy stayed with Sophie through lunch before leaving.

On the way back to her room, she unexpectedly heard someone crying.

The room belonged to Rachel Shaw.

Pausing slightly, Ivy saw Rachel kneeling in the room, begging Gregory Lancaster and Seraphina Kennedy to save her.

Ivy recalled hearing their arguments at Imperial Bay Villa but didn’t pay attention to the specifics.

However, she clearly knew that Rachel had tampered with the divorce papers.

Whether Rachel was foolish or not wanting to be Mrs. Lancaster, you’d think she’d help Ivy and Damien divorce quickly.

Yet she manipulated the divorce papers, becoming her obstacle.

Ivy wasn’t one to eavesdrop, so she left directly.

But Rachel noticed Ivy.

Infuriated, Rachel wanted to harm Ivy.

"Ivy Summers, just you wait, when I return, it’s your death day."

In the afternoon, Ivy called Ella Morgan and Nathan and Leo, and hearing that Ivy still couldn’t return to Yrador, the kids were very upset.

Regarding the divorce, Ivy was still at a loss on how to proceed.

The following two days were quiet; Ivy peacefully recuperated in her room, sometimes visiting Sophie.

But today, when Ivy went to Sophie’s room, she found Sophie missing, along with her caretakers.

Worried, Ivy grabbed a nurse, "Where’s the little girl in this room?"

The nurse glanced, "The little girl, Sophie? She was discharged this morning."

"Discharged? Who took her?"

"A gentleman, surname Lancaster."

Damien Lancaster!

Ivy immediately frowned and called Damien, "Damien Lancaster."

On the other side, Damien answered leisurely, "Yes, what’s up?"

"Did you take Sophie out?"

"Yes."

"Why didn’t you tell me when you took Sophie out?"

"Ella asked me to look after Sophie. What’s your relation to Sophie that I should inform you?"

Biting her lip, Ivy was momentarily speechless by Damien’s words.

"Damien, Sophie’s mother also asked me to care for her. You should have at least informed me when you took Sophie; after all, she’s gone missing several times. It’s scary not knowing where she is."

"I see."

Damien responded blandly, leaving Ivy uncertain of his intent.

"Now you know, I’ll hang up." With that, Damien ended the call.

Extraordinarily cold.

Ivy, "Wait a minute, hey! Damien!"

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Ivy, "..."

Damien discharged Sophie without telling her. Ivy suspected it was deliberate, but she had no proof.

Returning to her own ward, Ivy felt restless. Finally, she stood up, changed clothes, and left the hospital.

At that moment, Damien looked at his phone, curling his lips slightly, "Let her in when she arrives."

"Who? Who’s coming?" Julian asked.

Damien glanced at him, his voice sounding cheerful, "Ivy!"

Julian looked puzzled, "The lady?"

"Isn’t the lady avoiding you? Why would she come?" Julian muttered quietly.

Damien looked up, "What are you mumbling about?"

"Nothing, I’ll go right away."

Julian thought Ivy would never come.

But half an hour later, Julian saw Ivy appear at the door.

"Madam? You?"

"I... I’m here to find Damien."

With that, Ivy walked directly inside.

Julian was utterly surprised, "The sun’s rising from the west today."

Ivy quickly walked inside, breathing a sigh of relief only when she saw Sophie in the living room.

"Mom... Auntie..." Sophie’s beautiful eyes lit up upon seeing Ivy.

At that moment, besides Sophie, there was another little girl, Annelise.

Annelise had been brought over by Seraphina, who had already completed all the adoption procedures, so it was impossible for her to return Annelise to the orphanage.

Annelise looked at Ivy with her big eyes, her small face expressionless as if unwelcoming of her arrival.

Sophie happily introduced, "Auntie, this is Annelise, my sister."

Ivy nodded, "Auntie knows, Auntie has met Annelise."

Ivy walked over to check the injury on Sophie’s head, "Sophie, why did Uncle Lancaster discharge you?"

"Because the doctor said Sophie could be discharged."

Ivy nodded knowingly.

She thought Damien wanted to take Sophie away from her side, hence taking her away.

"Why did you come over?" On the stairs, Damien stood there, for once in simple loungewear, a white T-shirt paired with gray sweatpants, looking much more casual and relaxed than his usual suit and tie.

"I came... to see you." Ivy blurted out.

Unable to say she came to see Sophie, after thinking it over, Ivy just forced out this sentence, not knowing what she was even saying.

Damien chuckled lightly and slowly walked down from upstairs, "To see me?"

Ivy bit her lip, "...Yes."

"Now you’ve seen me, you can leave."

Ivy frowned, seriously suspecting Damien was doing this on purpose.

This hateful Damien.

Not feeling at ease with Sophie here, Ivy asked Damien, "Is this how you treat your guests? Aren’t you going to invite me for a meal or something?"

"Lunch wasn’t prepared for you."

Ivy, "..."

Listening at the side, Julian was shocked. Is this how he treats his wife?

Clearly, lunch was prepared with Ivy’s favorites, and he’s just being stubborn. Be careful of the consequences of neglecting your wife.

Ivy glanced at Sophie.

I’ll endure!

"It’s okay, I’m not hungry; it’s fine not to eat."

Ivy sat down on the sofa.

Damien’s lips curled into a faint smile, but he quickly suppressed it, no longer driving her away, instead holding Sophie, "Sophie, you’ll be staying with Uncle for the next few days."

Sophie knew Ella Morgan had asked Damien to take care of her.

So she nodded.

Annelise looked up, observing them.

Damien handed a piece of candy to Sophie, doting on her, "Here, have it."

Sophie looked at Ivy.

Mummy wouldn’t allow her to eat candy.

But having just one piece should be okay.

Sophie clenched the candy tightly in her hand.

Sophie looked up, seeing Annelise, she turned back to ask Damien, "Is there more?"

This piece of candy was found by Damien in his pocket last time on the car, not prepared at home, "No more, if you want more, I’ll have someone buy them for you."

Sophie looked at the candy in her hand, wanting to eat it, but there was only one piece.

Sophie climbed down from Damien’s lap, ran to Annelise, and handed her the candy in her hand, "Annelise, here’s some candy for you."

Annelise looked at Sophie, who was two years younger, much shorter, and smiled at her like a little carved dough doll, causing Annelise to smile too. She took the candy from her and thanked her, then pulled Sophie, "Sophie, let’s go out and play, okay?"

Sophie nodded happily, "Okay."

Annelise pulled Sophie outside.

Ivy watched, feeling a bit uneasy, but two children playing at home shouldn’t be a problem, so Ivy let them go.

Outside, Annelise let go of Sophie’s hand.

Annelise walked quickly ahead, Sophie couldn’t keep up and could only huff and puff with small steps, "Annelise, please wait for me."

When they reached a quiet spot, Annelise stopped and turned back, glaring at Sophie angrily.

Sophie didn’t understand why the sister in front of her suddenly stared at her like that, blinking uneasily, fearfully asking, "Annelise, what’s wrong?"

Suddenly, Annelise reached out, pushing Sophie into the pool next to them.

"Splash" went the sound.

Sophie, completely unguarded against Annelise, fell right in.

Annelise looked at the candy in her hand and disdainfully threw it at Sophie struggling in the pool, "Who wants your candy? Why are you trying to take my dad?"
