CHAPTER 163: CHAPTER 163: DID IVY SUMMERS TRY TO END HER LIFE?

A simple remark nearly made Rachel Shaw unable to breathe.

"Damien, I..."

"I’m very busy. Close the door on your way out, and next time, don’t dress like this. It’s not attractive."

Rachel tried to say more, but Damien Lancaster had already lowered his eyes, busy with work.

Rachel looked at the low pressure around Damien, not daring to disturb him, and reluctantly left.

As soon as Rachel left, Damien called Julian Jacobs in.

"How did Rachel get in?"

Damien rushed straight home, and as the servant opened the door, "Young master, you’re back?"

Damien quickly walked inside, not seeing Nathan and Leo, but instead seeing the Shaw family of three standing there covered in mud, Gregory Lancaster and Seraphina Kennedy looking helpless, and Zachary Lancaster stifling laughter.

Seeing Damien was unaware of what happened, Zachary explained, "Nathan and Leo dug a big pit in the backyard; the three of them fell in. Frankly, it’s their own fault, why else didn’t we fall in ourselves?"

Penelope Page shouted, "Because Nathan and Leo did it on purpose!"

The three of them came to discuss the engagement; after sitting down for a while, they were led to the backyard by a servant and fell right into the pit.

How could there be a big pit in the backyard?

Clearly, someone had done it on purpose!

Just waiting for them to come over.

Rachel cried even more pitifully and walked over to grab Damien’s arm, "Damien, I know Nathan and Leo dislike me, but... but they can’t do this, it’s too much."

Damien furrowed his brow, unbuttoned a couple of shirt buttons, and took a breath.

"Go bring Nathan and Leo down."

Damien’s voice was somewhat stern, making Zachary tighten up, "Bro, Nathan and Leo were just playing; they weren’t malicious."

Seeing Damien intending to scold Nathan and Leo, the Shaw family’s hearts felt a bit more at ease.

Phillip Shaw said, "These two kids must have been spoiled by that woman surnamed Summers, they need a good lesson, or they will become lawless."

Upon hearing this, Seraphina gave him a look, her face becoming unpleasant.

Penelope Page also spoke up, "Exactly, they did it deliberately. These two bad seeds must be given a good beating."

Gregory and Seraphina Lancaster’s faces both turned unsightly, the embarrassment and apology vanished from their faces.

Soon, Nathan and Leo were brought before Damien, and he asked sternly, "Did you dig the pit in the backyard?"

"I did," Nathan bravely stood in front of Leo, "If you want to punish someone, punish me."

Leo added, "We dug it together, but they were stupid and fell in themselves."

Nathan and Leo didn’t look like kids caught doing something bad about to be scolded; they looked like generals who’d won a battle.

"Clearly you led people to lure us over, you bad kids, still defiant," Phillip Shaw shouted angrily, "Damien, give them a good lesson."

The moment the words fell, Damien let out a cold laugh, picked up a glass of water, took a slow sip, and asked, "What does it mean to give a good lesson?"

Phillip Shaw replied, "Doesn’t the Lancaster Family have family rules? Just enforce them."

Penelope Page added, "Right, kids this age only remember after being beaten, twenty strikes with the family rule will teach them a lesson so they don’t dare next time."

Rachel commented, "Damien, my parents are right. If they’re not punished, these two kids will definitely turn bad and become little villains in the future, which would be bad."

Nathan and Leo knew Damien was going to scold them; they were already prepared, but hearing them say this, they were still a bit afraid.

Damien Lancaster stood up, "Ivy Summers was willing to let us take care of the children, and if we deprive them of seeing their mother, do you think that’s fair?"

When Damien Lancaster was taking Nathan and Leo out, Gregory Lancaster still stopped him, saying, "We’re not stopping you from taking them to see Ivy Summers, but you must bring them back. Damien Lancaster carried Ivy Summers, running as fast as he could, and the person in his arms felt as light as if she’d become just bones, her hands limply hung down, seeming as if she’d never wake again.

Damien Lancaster continuously called her name, "Ivy Summers! Wake up, please wake up! Why are you doing this to yourself? If you’re upset, if you hate me, then stab me with a knife, why hurt yourself?"

"Don’t you care about the kids? What will Nathan and Leo do if you’re gone? Do you not want them anymore? Ivy Summers, I’m begging you, wake up, don’t leave the kids, don’t leave me..."

Damien Lancaster didn’t know why he’d parked the car so far away, he only felt this road was very, very long, running to despair with the motionless person in his arms.
