Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 39: Paternity Test Results
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: PATERNITY TEST RESULTS
Ivy Summers was stunned, her beautiful eyes fixed on Damien Lancaster, the look of shock seemed to ask if Damien was out of his mind.
Damien gazed deeply at her, having tasted her kiss that night, he was somewhat enamored with it, "Will you kiss or not?"
"Get lost."
"Then we’ll just stand here and wait for everyone to see The Great Auctioneer Zinnia secretly meeting with Damien Lancaster at the auction house."
Ivy Summers gritted her teeth fiercely, "Don’t you have any shame?"
"For you?"
"..."
"Kiss or not?"
Footsteps came closer, "Zinnia, what are you hiding from? Could it be that you knew you made a mistake and are feeling guilty?"
Ivy’s heart raced wildly, truly feeling like she was having an affair, the man in front of her tightly embraced her, their stance was extremely suggestive.
Damien had initially wanted to tease Ivy, not expecting her to actually kiss him.
But in the next second... the woman stood on her tiptoes and gave a swift peck on his lips through the veil.
Damien’s heart skipped a beat, and before he could react, the woman had already fled quickly.
He stood there, somewhat dazed.
Ivy glared at him with her beautiful eyes, "Is that enough? Let go!"
Damien snapped out of it, curled his lips into a smile, "Not enough."
With that, he reached out, pulled down her veil, and held her head to deepen the kiss just now.
Ivy thought a kiss would suffice to let her go.
Obviously, she naively trusted the man’s words.
Ivy pushed hard against the man’s solid chest, only to be kissed more intensely.
Damien moved backward a few steps with her, hiding behind a wall, pinning Ivy against it, her head tilted up, forced to kiss.
Just beyond the wall.
Nina Summers came with others, saying, "Wasn’t she supposed to be here? Where is she?"
"No idea, we clearly saw her head this way just now."
Someone chuckled, "Probably nonsense, knew we were coming to expose her, so she’s hiding."
Ivy could even hear the smacking sound as Damien kissed her, her heart nearly leapt out of her chest, her face turning completely red.
Finally, Damien contentedly let her go, Ivy leaned against his chest, panting heavily, raised her hand, and was about to slap Damien.
Damien caught her hand, looking at her with satisfaction, he whispered, "Aren’t you afraid of being discovered?"
"Bastard! Pervert! Rogue!" Ivy hurriedly put on her veil, and before leaving, she stomped hard on Damien’s foot.
"Hiss, are you trying to murder your husband?"
Ivy pushed the rogue away forcefully, and before they came over, she walked out.
Nina saw her looking flustered and tilted her head, "What were you doing inside, Zinnia? We just called you, didn’t you hear?"
Ivy struggled to catch her breath and retorted, "Do I have to respond if I hear you?"
"I think you didn’t dare respond, was it you who said this gourd vase is fake?"
"Yes, it was me."
"The colleagues in the appraisal department re-evaluated it, and this gourd vase is real."
Nina crossed her arms, staring at her, "Does Zinnia know people have to be accountable for what they say?"
"Just because it’s been appraised doesn’t mean there can’t be errors?"
"Heh."
Nina snorted, "Are you trying to say you’re better than the teachers in the appraisal department? They all got it wrong, and only you got it right? And do you know who the consigner of this item is? It’s someone you can’t afford to offend."
Ivy raised an eyebrow indifferently, "Do you know the impact on the auction house if a counterfeit is auctioned off? Joy Quinn!"
"Here."
"Re-evaluate it, if the appraisal department can’t do it, get Master Jennings to appraise it."
"Master Jennings? Zinnia, who do you think you are? Do you think you can just hire Master Jennings?"
Ivy ignored her, looked at Joy, "Contact the consigner first, I’ll contact Master Jennings."
Joy hesitated for a moment, "Okay."
"Wait, since you’re so sure, Zinnia, dare to bet with me? Whoever wins today’s auction will stay on, and if you lose, you give up the position of chief auctioneer, how about it?"
Nina looked provocative, she didn’t believe something appraised by everyone could be fake.
She didn’t miss the chance to oust this person in front of her, who knows nothing.
Ivy casually raised an eyebrow, "What if you lose?"
"If I lose, I’ll admit you’re better in front of everyone in the auction house and apologize to you."
"I am better, don’t need your recognition, if you lose, you’ll clean the warehouse." Ivy said in a cold voice.
Nina sneered.
She knew perfectly well she wouldn’t lose.
An ugly monster who rose through luck dares to compete with her here, waiting to offend everyone, huh.
"Okay." Nina agreed instantly, and walked away.
"So confident?" Damien casually emerged from the back.
Ivy turned back, recalling earlier, the blush under the veil had not yet faded, "You pervert, did you look for me just to behave like a rogue?"
"I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
A paternity test was completed!
"You’ll know once you go."
Damien grabbed Ivy’s hand and led her straight away.
...
On the way, Damien’s expression was much more serious than before.
Ivy was a bit uneasy.
Soon, the car stopped at Lancaster Manor.
Damien didn’t rush to get out, he sat in the car, looking at Ivy in the passenger seat.
Ivy blinked, her heart racing.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I’m giving you a chance to confess now."
Ivy looked puzzled, his expression was as if she had committed a serious crime, and he was about to drag her off for execution.
What on earth prompted Damien to be so serious?
"What is it?" Ivy asked directly.
Damien’s voice was deep, "Is Sophie our child, yours and mine?"
As soon as Damien asked this question, Ivy felt a sharp pain in her heart.
She was momentarily stunned, looking at Damien’s eyes as if they could see through her heart.
Why did he suddenly ask this question?
Has he discovered something and is suspicious?
Ivy’s heart beat faster and faster, but she dared not show any flaw on her face, "What are you saying? Isn’t Sophie a child you picked up at the airport? How did she become our child? Are you out of your mind?"
Ivy forced herself to remain calm.
She knew Damien had always been suspicious.
But she didn’t expect him to suddenly ask, his current demeanor more like he had found some conclusive evidence.
Damien nodded after hearing her say that, not pursuing the question further, "Alright, let’s get out."
Ivy felt increasingly uneasy, carefully pondering if she had missed any flaws, thinking about how to handle it later.
Lancaster Manor living room.
The old master sat alone in the living room, the manor was usually very quiet, not many people came, Damien wouldn’t come to stay here unless necessary, the vast manor subtly exuded a sense of loneliness.
Ivy’s face showed some guilt, if not for what happened back then, at this moment the old master should be surrounded by Nathan, Leo, and Sophie, and the manor would be lively.
Ivy sighed lightly.
Although she felt guilty, she still couldn’t reveal the secret.
She couldn’t accept losing her three children.
"Grandpa."
"Ivy, you’re here, come sit." The old master’s voice was kindly as he patted the seat beside him.
"Grandpa, do you have something for me today?"
"Yes, something important."
Ivy tightly pursed her lips, her unease increasing.
With a "click", the door was opened from outside.
Julian Jacobs came in, holding a package wrapped in a brown paper bag.
"Sir, old master, Miss Summers."
Julian handed the paternity test to Damien.
Ivy looked at the brown paper bag, her heart inexplicably sinking, asking, "What is that?"
"A paternity test."
