Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 89: One Slap from Gregory Lancaster, Two Slaps from Damien Lancaster
CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: ONE SLAP FROM GREGORY LANCASTER, TWO SLAPS FROM DAMIEN LANCASTER
Ella Morgan opened her phone, "This is the video you didn’t let me finish the last time."
She handed the phone to Damien Lancaster, letting him see it for himself.
Letting him see for himself just how malicious the seemingly perfect Rachel Shaw really was.
Rachel anxiously tried to step forward to stop him, but it was too late; the phone was already in Damien’s hands.
The little color that had returned to her face now drained away, leaving her pale again.
The first frame Damien saw in the video was Rachel holding a knife towards Sophie, the blade hovering dangerously near her face, full of threat.
Damien frowned, his eyes gradually becoming deep and cold.
Ella explained, "Miss Shaw, bearing a grudge because we sent her to the police, came to take revenge as soon as she was released. Had Miss Summers not been there that day, I can’t imagine what would have happened to my daughter."
"No... it’s not like that..." Rachel’s lips trembled as she tried to step forward, "Damien, don’t believe them, these are all fake, none of it’s real, the video is deliberately staged and edited by them..."
As her voice fell, a piercing sound emanated from the phone, so sharp that she couldn’t bear to listen to it herself.
’Try stepping forward and see, believe it or not, I’ll stab her face with the knife right now.’
Suddenly, Rachel’s face turned as white as a sheet, and the room fell silent, everyone listening to the conversation in the video.
The video indeed was edited, but only the part where Rachel mentioned Sophie being Ivy Summers’ daughter was cut out.
After watching the video, the air around Damien turned icy cold; the chill filled the whole room. He seemed shocked, unable to believe that the woman in the video was the same one standing before him.
Rachel could no longer remain calm, disregarding her leg injury, she got out of bed and threw herself at Damien, clutching his clothes tightly, tears streaming down immediately, "It’s not, Damien, it’s not me..."
"Not you what?"
After a long while, Damien only stared at her, questioning her.
Not her? Not her what?
Did she want to say that the woman with a malicious expression in the video, attempting to harm a child, wasn’t her?
Facing the questioning, Rachel trembled all over, shaking her head vigorously, tears drawing a clear arc in the air.
"Damien, there must be some misunderstanding, they must have wronged Rachel," Phillip Shaw spoke up in defense of his daughter.
Damien directly tossed the phone to him, letting him see for himself.
Phillip Shaw and Penelope Page’s faces froze as they watched the video, opening their mouths but unable to speak.
Rachel still clung to Damien, claiming to be wronged.
Damien looked down at her, his voice ice-cold, "Rachel Shaw, this is the real you, isn’t it?"
Rachel kept shaking her head, "Damien, I... I was just too angry, it clearly wasn’t me who harmed Sophie, but they sent me to the police, I was too angry, and in a moment of confusion, did something impulsive, but I never truly intended to harm that child, I..."
Listening to her explanation, Damien’s face became even colder, "So accusing Ivy Summers in front of me was also an impulsive act?"
"I... I... she was the one holding a knife to me, wasn’t she trying to harm me, how can you say I was accusing her..."
Rachel’s tears flowed fiercely, crying pitifully, hoping for Damien’s sympathy.
But all she got was Damien’s eerie response, "You should be glad she was the one to see it, if it were me, you wouldn’t be feeling so comfortable."
Hearing this, Rachel couldn’t even cry, as her hands slowly let go of Damien’s clothes, collapsing weakly to the ground.
Ivy Summers saw her on the verge of a breakdown and walked over, "Rachel Shaw, it’s not over yet, you better hold on."
Rachel raised her head to look at Ivy Summers, those eyes filled with resentment, as if she hated them for exposing her.
In Rachel’s eyes, only she was allowed to harm them endlessly.
If they retaliated, it was their fault.
"Damien, I know nothing I say now will make you believe me, but Ivy Summers and that man broke into my house and strung us up and beat us; this you know clearly as well."
"Your Shaw Family brought people to vandalize first, Rachel Shaw, do you really think I know nothing?"
Rachel was stunned.
Zachary Lancaster lowered his head, looking at Rachel, "Who would’ve thought, beneath that innocent facade, hides such a dark heart."
Rachel’s face visibly paled, her lips trembling, anxious to find something Ivy couldn’t provide evidence for, something that would immediately convict her.
Gritting her teeth, Rachel said, "I have a dark heart? Then what about Ivy Summers? Damien, you saw with your own eyes her pushing me off the Ferris wheel."
"Rachel Shaw, even now you wish to slander me?"
Ivy Summers, who had been silent, finally spoke up.
Rachel suddenly lifted her head, aggrieved, saying, "Ivy Summers, I know that now Damien won’t believe anything I say because I can’t manipulate like you, but pushing me off the Ferris wheel to kill me is undeniable."
"Are you so sure?"
Rachel lifted her chin.
Of course, she was certain.
After all, the phone was with her, Ivy had no evidence, and she was the injured one, couldn’t she say whatever she wanted?
"I’m certain."
Ivy Summers chuckled softly, nodding, "So you think I have no evidence and that’s why you dare to say this."
Rachel looked confidently at Ivy Summers.
Ivy Summers, "What a pity."
Rachel narrowed her eyes.
Ivy Summers took out her phone, "Too bad you’re destined for disappointment today, Rachel Shaw, I warned you to think carefully before lying, didn’t I?"
Seeing Ivy Summers take out her phone, Rachel’s heart skipped a beat.
No, this isn’t right.
Why was she taking out her phone now?
She didn’t have evidence, what was she going to do with her phone?
Rachel quickly looked back at her father, remembering the phone he brought back, a terrifying possibility arose in her mind.
That phone he brought back might not have been Ivy Summers’.
Perhaps Ivy Summers had retrieved her own phone long ago.
Thinking of this, Rachel’s heart pounded out of her chest.
With Damien, who had helped her punish Ivy earlier, and the people Gregory Lancaster sent to help her present, if they found out all this was her lie...
It would not only slap her face but also theirs.
And she might lose their trust forever...
"No... no..."
