CHAPTER 130: CHAPTER 130: JOINING THE COMPANY

"I just got back today and thought I hadn’t seen Grandma Fairchild for so many years, so I came to see her. I’ve been abroad for a few years now, and it’s about time I graduated." Anna said with a smile.

To be fair, Desmond Fairchild had always treated Anna well, having grown up together since childhood. He always regarded Anna as a sister, and it was a pleasant surprise to see her in person after not seeing each other for so long.

"Indeed, you guys go ahead and eat; I’ve already eaten at the company. I still have some work to do, so I’ll head to the study first." Desmond glanced at the time and hurried upstairs.

Anna looked at the man who hadn’t changed much from her memory, a determined glint in her eyes.

However, perhaps without even realizing it herself, the way Anna looked at Desmond was filled with the joy of a long-awaited reunion, appreciation for a kindred spirit, and a long-held obsession, yet lacked the feelings a woman should have when seeing the man she loves.

"Knock knock."

"Come in." Desmond said without looking up, his head buried in the documents.

"Desmond, are you busy right now?" Anna asked as she pushed the door open and walked in.

Upon hearing Anna’s voice, Desmond raised his head and looked at her with some curiosity, "Is there something you need?"

"Is your company hiring? What I learned abroad is related to your company’s business, so I’m thinking of going through the back door to join your company." Anna said half-jokingly.

Desmond considered for a moment, then gladly agreed. Although Anna had been away for a few years, her previous studies in the country were also related to his company’s business. She had interned at the company for a while, and her professional skills were quite solid.

Such an easy favor, he was more than happy to oblige, and he was very willing to bring a capable person like Anna onto his team.

"With your ability, you can come in as my assistant at the company. I’m confident you can handle it." Desmond added.

Anna naturally had no reason to disagree.

"Then it’s settled. There’s a banquet tomorrow night, and you’ll accompany me. Consider it your first task after joining the company." Desmond said while handing her a document from the desk.

"Look over this document tonight. Tomorrow’s banquet is co-hosted by us and Kevin Group for a previous project. Since you’re my assistant, you need to understand this partnership." Desmond mentioned Kevin Group, his expression turning slightly unnatural for a moment. Anna, of course, knew who the current president of Kevin Group was.

She tightened her grip slightly on the document but maintained her graceful composure.

Kevin Group... Anna gathered all the information about Kevin Group online and carefully reviewed the partnership document multiple times to gain a thorough understanding.

"Seraphina Sinclair... I’m really curious to know what kind of person you are. Is Desmond Fairchild’s relationship with you really as described online?" Anna murmured, stroking the document.

The next evening, as Seraphina Sinclair was about to leave, she was blocked by Camille White. After much persuasion, he finally let her go, but insisted on accompanying her.

Seraphina knew Camille was concerned about her mental state, so she had no choice but to let him accompany her.

At the venue, Seraphina wore a lake-blue V-neck gown, perfectly accentuating her figure. The hem of the dress was adorned with sheer fabric, flowing like a starry river as she walked, a light makeup on her face, and she entered the venue holding the arm of the gentleman beside her.

Beside her, Camille wore a suit in the same color scheme. Even with Seraphina in high heels, she was half a head shorter than him, making them appear like a perfect couple to those unaware.

Concerned about Seraphina’s condition, Camille stayed close by her side the entire evening.

As Desmond Fairchild entered the venue, the first thing he saw was Seraphina Sinclair holding Camille’s arm, smiling and talking to him. His previously calm demeanor instantly turned cold, and Anna, always by his side, naturally noticed his change.

"President Sinclair." He walked briskly to Seraphina’s side, speaking with a feigned calm, his gaze subtly sweeping over Camille.

In the instant Anna met Camille’s eyes, both sides showed a brief flicker of surprise.

"President Fairchild." Seraphina felt an impulse to avoid him but quickly suppressed it with rationality.

"Isn’t President Sinclair going to introduce the gentleman beside you?" Desmond stepped forward, looking down at Seraphina from above.

Seraphina was momentarily speechless, and Camille immediately pulled her behind him, openly protecting her, meeting Desmond’s eyes with a defiant stance.

As Camille protected her, even with him holding her hand tightly, Seraphina made no effort to break free.

Desmond looked at Camille holding Seraphina’s wrist, his gaze darkening instantly, letting out a cold laugh before leaving.

Anna saw this and silently breathed a sigh of relief. If it was as described online and by Grandma Fairchild, with what she knew of Desmond, he wouldn’t have turned and left.

From this situation, it seemed they were merely putting on a show, albeit a convincing one, even managing to fool Grandma Fairchild.

But a lie is still a lie, and it will eventually be uncovered. Perhaps she could hasten that day.

Anna thought to herself, smiling at Seraphina before leaving with Desmond.

Watching Desmond’s retreating figure, Seraphina couldn’t help but close her eyes lightly, taking several deep breaths to calm herself.

Due to the importance of tonight’s banquet regarding the cooperation case between Cloudsea Group and Kevin Group, Seraphina and Desmond could only maintain a businesslike facade in front of the media, enduring until the banquet finally ended smoothly.

Anna became more certain of her assumptions, but after the banquet, Desmond merely arranged for someone to take her home, with no sign of himself.

Meanwhile, Desmond, now "missing," had cornered Seraphina in a corridor, with Camille, originally by her side, nowhere to be seen.

"Desmond Fairchild, what are you doing? Why did you drag me here inexplicably? It’s late, and I need to leave." Seraphina shook off Desmond’s hand on her wrist, stepping back a few paces.

Dragged here without reason from the entrance, Seraphina couldn’t shake an uneasy premonition.
