CHAPTER 138: CHAPTER 138: TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT

"Seraphina, listen to me, Anna is just like a sister to me, she was just helping me wipe some dirt off my face." Desmond Fairchild said, holding Seraphina Sinclair’s hand.

However, Seraphina pulled her hand away, took a step back with her head lowered, and a sarcastic curve appeared at the corner of her lips. How familiar this scene was.

A sister? Ha, she really wouldn’t fall for that title twice, would she?

She couldn’t help but look up at Anna, who stood by the window, unmoved, with her usual smile on her lips.

"Desmond, if I told you right now that I don’t like your so-called sister, and that I want you to cut ties with her immediately, would you listen to me?" Seraphina took a deep breath and said, her voice trembling slightly.

"Seraphina, there’s really nothing between Anna and me, you don’t need to do this." Desmond said, somewhat helplessly.

"No need? Desmond, do you know what you’re saying? You said there’s no need? Ha." Seraphina stared at him for a while, suddenly letting out a cold laugh, her eyes full of bitterness.

Seeing her in this state, Desmond suddenly felt a pang of panic in his heart and tried to reach for Seraphina’s hand, only to be accidentally blocked by Anna stepping forward.

"President Sinclair, you’ve misunderstood. There’s really nothing between me and President Fairchild. He’s always seen me as a sister." Anna said calmly.

"He sees you as a sister, do you see him as a brother? Is it fun playing the green tea under this guise?" Seraphina looked at her sarcastically, and her tone was naturally unpleasant.

"Seraphina, what are you doing? Don’t you think these words of yours are a bit too much?" Desmond said, hearing Seraphina’s harsh tone, his expression turning a bit grim.

Seeing him like this, Seraphina suddenly wanted to laugh, laugh at herself for being overconfident, and laugh at her own stupidity and misery.

Indeed, what men say is the least trustworthy thing in this world.

The way Seraphina thought, it indeed showed in her smile, but her eyes were filled with sadness. She shook her head as she laughed and stepped back: "Desmond, do you remember what you said to me before?"

"Seraphina..." Desmond looked at her in this state, his heart growing more anxious. He stepped forward, wanting to grab Seraphina’s hand once more, only for Seraphina to open it without hesitation.

"I think I should calm down and define our relationship properly. I’ll leave now, goodbye." Fighting back tears, Seraphina said, then turned around and left.

She could sense Desmond was staring at her back the whole time, but she never turned around, and he didn’t come up to hold her hand.

Desmond anxiously watched Seraphina walk into the elevator. At the moment just before the doors closed, he seemed to see a tear fall from the corner of Seraphina’s eye.

"Wait!" Desmond finally reacted, shouting urgently, but he was a step too late, as the elevator doors closed.

Desmond glanced around, then kicked open the stairway door and rushed down quickly.

Instantly, only Anna was left at the scene. She watched Desmond’s figure disappear into the stairway, thinking of Seraphina’s expression just now. For a moment, she felt like one of those unscrupulous villains from cliché TV dramas, awful and detestable.

By the time Desmond ran to the company entrance, Seraphina had already driven away.

When Desmond returned to the office, he was in a bit of a daze. Anna bit her lip, holding a new cup of coffee, and walked into the office.

She placed the coffee on the desk, speaking rather sadly, "I’m sorry, President Sinclair must have misunderstood just now. I’ll go find her and explain."

"No need, this matter doesn’t concern you, it’s her misunderstanding. I’ll give her a proper explanation later, don’t take what Seraphina said to heart." Desmond said, supporting his forehead with his hand, feeling a bit tired.

Anna opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing, nodded lightly, and then left the office.

All Desmond could think about was the way Seraphina retreated earlier, where her eyes seemed to already hold tears, yet her face still bore a smile.

The more Desmond thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. Just as he could no longer bear it and planned to immediately go and explain things to Seraphina, a company representative arrived for a major cooperation case with Cloudsea Group. This cooperation case was important for Cloudsea Group, so Desmond had to meet them personally.

"Agreed, then, President Fairchild, I wish us a pleasant cooperation." The representative from the partnering company said, extending a hand after signing the contract.

"Pleasant cooperation." Desmond also said politely.

Finally, after seeing the people off, Desmond hurried back to Azure Cloud Shores.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw Seraphina sitting on the sofa, a paper document placed on the coffee table in front of her. Desmond finally breathed a sigh of relief, changed his shoes, and walked over, calling softly, "Seraphina."

Seraphina looked up at him. Her face showed no signs, yet her gaze made Desmond feel increasingly uneasy.

"Seraphina, today at the company, you really misunderstood, I..."

"Whether or not it’s a misunderstanding, I know myself. Since you’re here, sign this agreement." Seraphina suddenly interrupted him, calmly handing him the document on the table.

For some reason, Desmond suddenly felt unwilling to take the document. Although Seraphina was calm, he felt that Seraphina being so calm made him even more anxious. If Seraphina had quarreled with him, perhaps he wouldn’t have felt this worried.

Desmond, slightly trembling, opened the document. It was a contract, or more accurately, a termination contract for the original patronage agreement between Seraphina and him.

"Actually, this contract should have been given to you for signing long ago, as it really isn’t appropriate anymore. Just take the chance and sign it, and we can part on good terms." Seraphina said, pretending to be calm, but the slight tremor in her voice betrayed her true feelings inside.

"I won’t sign it." Desmond closed his eyes slightly, decisively tearing up the document.

Seraphina watched coldly, only speaking after he had completely destroyed the document: "Have you torn enough? If not, I can prepare more copies for you. After you sign it, tear away as you wish."

Desmond’s actions paused, and he turned to look at Seraphina: "What on earth is wrong? Just tell me, looking like this, what do you want me to do?"

"What do I want you to do? Didn’t I already tell you?" Seraphina finally couldn’t hold up her calm facade, showing a bit of collapse on her face.

Desmond was stunned for a moment, recalling what she had said at the company, his shoulders drooping powerlessly: "Seraphina, how many times do I have to tell you, there’s really nothing between Anna and me. I only see her as a sister, nothing else."

Seraphina closed her eyes, her whole being like she had been drained of energy: "Then there’s nothing more to say. Take this document with you, whenever you come to your senses, sign it and give it back to me. I don’t want to see you now, leave."

After she finished, she took out another identical document from under the coffee table and threw it at Desmond.

Desmond stood there holding the document for a few minutes, then suddenly turned and left.

Hearing the door close, Seraphina collapsed on the sofa, a tear gently sliding from the corner of her eye.
