CHAPTER 142: CHAPTER 142: MY BEST FRIEND’S MAN

"Alright, I understand, but I’m sorry, I still can’t transfer it to you. After all, that very important person you mentioned is my best friend’s fiancé. Miss Anna, for you to do this knowing he has a fiancée, and still wanting to create trouble for him, how could I possibly allow you?" Rosalie Quinn interrupted her, speaking without restraint, instantly drawing the attention of passersby.

"Miss Quinn, what are you talking about? I find it hard to understand." Anna’s face changed for a moment upon hearing Rosalie, clutching her palm tightly.

Seeing her like this, Rosalie sneered, walked up to her and spoke, "Can’t understand? Do I need to speak more clearly? Like, how you manage to appear graceful and poised while stirring feelings, pretending nothing’s amiss, and then boldly claim there’s a meaningful memory with your important person in Southgate Park?"

Hearing Rosalie’s words, the crowd of spectators immediately started discussing. No matter when, such topics never lack interested onlookers.

"Miss Quinn, do you have any proof for what you’re saying?" Anna tried hard to remain calm as she looked at Rosalie.

Rosalie casually replied with a smile, "No evidence, just speaking off the cuff. But as for Southgate Park’s development rights, I indeed won’t transfer them to you."

However, the more she spoke like this, the more the spectators imagined, and soon the news spread rapidly.

By the time Anna returned to the company, the matter was already buzzing in the company group.

"No way, did Assistant Anna really stir up trouble between President Fairchild and President Sinclair?"

"Who would’ve thought, didn’t expect her to be that kind of person."

"I’ve wanted to mention it for a while. Previously, didn’t President Sinclair come to the company once to look for President Fairchild? But something must have happened; I saw President Sinclair’s eyes were red when she left, and President Fairchild rushed after her."

"Goodness, isn’t Assistant Anna supposed to be back from studying abroad? How could she be into this sort of thing."

Anna stood at the break room door, holding her hands tightly as she listened to the sound inside, her face especially unsightly.

"Assistant Anna." The first woman out of the break room saw Anna standing at the door, raised her voice, and the break room instantly fell silent. A group of young women slowly walked out in clusters.

"Who allowed you to chat idly during work hours? Is everything done?" Anna stated sharply.

Having been caught gossiping, they exchanged looks and awkwardly said, "We’ll get to it right away."

Anna didn’t glance at them again and turned to leave.

Going upstairs, she bumped into Desmond Fairchild coming out of the office. She stepped forward, stood in front of Desmond, and said, "President Fairchild, Lynches have snatched the Southgate Park’s development rights."

"It’s alright, the development of Southgate Park itself doesn’t bring much profit to the company." Desmond Fairchild spoke flatly.

"But..."

Anna wanted to say more but was interrupted by Desmond Fairchild, "No need to dwell on the development rights of Southgate Park. I have things to attend to."

"It’s Quentin Jennings’ birthday today, right? I’ll go with you, and we can also give the birthday gift we bought last time." Anna finally remembered the occasion and quickly said.

Desmond Fairchild glanced at her, then refused, "No need. You can find another time to give him the birthday gift."

After speaking, Desmond Fairchild left directly, and Anna stood watching him leave, unable to maintain her composed elegance, she turned into the office.

Quentin Jennings, being the young master of the Jennings Family and the executive director of Cloudsea Group, naturally attracted prominent figures to his birthday banquet.

Seraphina Sinclair had prepared herself for seeing Desmond Fairchild upon arriving. Though she didn’t want to see him, the banquet was a chance to network.

So when she saw Desmond Fairchild, she decisively turned her gaze away, pretending she hadn’t seen him.

"Don’t worry, darling. If that jerk dares to approach, I’ll punch him for you." Rosalie, worried, came along with Seraphina Sinclair, and upon seeing her demeanor, raised her fist and spoke.

Quentin Jennings noticed Seraphina Sinclair upon her arrival and gently nudged Desmond Fairchild beside him, "Your sister-in-law is here, aren’t you going?"

Yet, Desmond Fairchild stood motionless. Despite seeing him, Seraphina clearly pretended not to. He genuinely didn’t know what to say if he went over.

"No way? Does this mean that the rumors at the company are true?" Quentin Jennings reacted in surprise at their appearance and sat beside Desmond Fairchild.

"What rumors at the company?" Desmond turned and asked him.

"Rumors about you and that assistant Anna. Sister-in-law can’t be angry because of this, right? Have you explained to her?" Quentin recalled the widespread gossip at the company, feeling a bit helpless.

Desmond Fairchild frowned, thought for a moment, and proceeded towards Seraphina Sinclair. As soon as he approached, before speaking, Seraphina pulled Rosalie’s hand and walked away.

"Hahaha, it’s confirmed now, sister-in-law is angry." Quentin Jennings rarely saw Desmond Fairchild face a setback, laughing excitedly.

Desmond Fairchild looked at him calmly, his eyes full of killing intent.

"Okay, okay, I’ll shut up, hahaha..." Quentin Jennings tried hard to suppress his laughter and nodded.

Desmond Fairchild was quite anxious. He had gone to Azure Cloud Shores to find Seraphina Sinclair, but there was no one home, and her belongings were taken. He couldn’t locate where they moved. Finally seeing her, yet she still ignored him, plus the strange man appearing by her side before, Desmond became increasingly anxious.

"Quentin, happy birthday." Halfway through the banquet, Seraphina, accompanied by Rosalie, approached Quentin Jennings and handed him a gift box.

"Thank you. If there’s anything lacking in the hospitality, Miss... President Sinclair, please forgive me." Quentin accepted the gift while making a face at Desmond, almost slipping up.

"Seraphina, I have something to discuss with you." Desmond Fairchild directly stated, grasping Seraphina’s hand.

"I don’t want to say much. I told you last time; I hope next time we meet, you can hand me the signed contract. If it’s about this, just give me the contract." Seraphina struggled to free her hand, her tone cold.

However, Desmond didn’t give her the chance to break free, directly leading her upstairs.
