Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 178: The Jealous Man
CHAPTER 178: CHAPTER 178: THE JEALOUS MAN
"Am I not better than Austin? He’s your godson, but I’m your husband." Desmond Fairchild snorted, "You’d rather go to your godson for help than to me, why shouldn’t I be bothered?"
"Each has their own expertise. What you know, Austin might not, but what Austin knows, you don’t. Let’s not nitpick over such trivial matters." Seraphina Sinclair sighed helplessly.
We’re already approaching our thirties, why are you acting like a child, fussing over things with a kid, really.
Desmond, however, was unconcerned: "I’m the only one who can help you."
"That’s a bit over the top, being too autocratic isn’t good." Seraphina hummed as she pushed Desmond away. Of course, she knew Desmond was just speaking in anger.
"Are you hungry?" Naturally, Desmond wouldn’t seriously expect Seraphina to only have him in her life, so he didn’t continue the conversation.
"I already ate, but now that you mention it, I actually feel a bit hungry." Seraphina touched her slightly empty stomach.
Desmond’s mood improved significantly, and he raised an eyebrow: "What do you want to eat?"
Seraphina tilted her head in thought, taking off her shoes as she walked inside. When she reached the study’s door, she turned back to Desmond with a bright smile: "I suddenly feel like having your spring noodles."
"Wait here." Desmond didn’t say much more and turned to the kitchen.
Seraphina put down the documents in her hands and took the opportunity while Desmond was preparing to take a shower.
After freshening up, she went to the kitchen, and through the half-open door, she saw Desmond kneading dough inside, a hint of warmth spreading through her heart.
She was really curious about how someone like Desmond, a noble young master, could know how to cook.
In contrast, she, a woman, had very few dishes in her repertoire; even if she cooked occasionally, it was all by following recipes, and she couldn’t even guarantee the taste.
It’s remarkable that over the years, Jude Sinclair had never complained about the food being terrible.
"What are you staring at? Get over here and help." Already aware of Seraphina’s presence and seeing her standing there without coming in, Desmond had to speak up.
Seraphina casually grabbed a hair tie and pulled her long hair into a ponytail. After circling the kitchen once, she looked at him in confusion: "What should I do?"
"What can you do?" Desmond asked.
"I’m pretty good at boiling water." Seraphina pounded her chest confidently.
Desmond was taken aback by this response. He didn’t expect a woman to proudly say that she’s good at boiling water.
He looked at Seraphina as if seeing a fool and, after a long pause, spoke slowly: "Is not knowing how to cook something to be proud of as a woman? Do you want to starve your husband and kids?"
Seraphina wasn’t offended and shrugged: "What does that matter, as long as you can cook."
"Oh?" Desmond looked at her with a half-smile, "You’ve already got me tied up in this? Are you that eager to marry me?"
Realizing what she had said, Seraphina’s cheeks turned red, but she didn’t refute: "So what? We’ve already had a child, are you planning to be irresponsible?"
"It seems you’re the one who’s been avoiding letting me take responsibility." Desmond sighed, exasperatedly. He’s mentioned marriage more than once, but Seraphina had always resisted.
Upon saying this, Seraphina’s tone fell silent, and she sighed deeply, pulling a wry smile: "Desmond, I’m sorry for making you wait so long."
Yes, Desmond has always given her his all, while she was stuck in her past unable to move on.
Luckily, he didn’t leave in the middle of it, or she wouldn’t know where to find such a good man.
Seraphina thought about how good Desmond was to her and suddenly had the impulsive thought to go with the flow and just marry him.
She thought about it but didn’t have the courage to say it out loud.
Considering this would be her first real relationship after a failed marriage, she didn’t have much experience and worried that agreeing to Desmond now would make her seem too eager.
Desmond didn’t know what Seraphina was thinking. He thought he had touched a nerve again and quickly put down the dough, drawing her into his arms to comfort her gently: "I’m the one who should apologize. I won’t bring this up anymore, don’t dwell on it."
"Hmm?" Seraphina was taken aback, "What do you mean?"
"I know I’ve been too hasty. I’ll give you time. For now, just live your life, no need to worry about these things. I won’t mention it again." Desmond thought Seraphina hadn’t understood him, so he explained patiently.
It seems he had been too eager. How he longed to marry Seraphina right now, so he could finally be at ease. But he also understood her past and knew she hadn’t fully opened up to him yet. Bringing up marriage now would indeed be too abrupt.
So, he decided not to bring it up for a while, so she wouldn’t be reminded of unpleasant past events.
Having made up his mind, Desmond decided not to propose to Seraphina for the short term.
Seraphina’s pretty face stiffened, almost causing her to lose her breath.
God knows what she just heard.
The way they had been interacting these days made her think Desmond wasn’t from some emotionally tone-deaf wood. Now it seemed she had thought too much.
This guy was romantic for only a few days, at heart he’s still that unromantic bore.
"Fine, don’t bring it up, who cares." Seraphina glared at him fiercely, turned around, and took two cucumbers out of the fridge to munch on.
While gnawing on the cucumbers, Seraphina glared at Desmond, leaving him utterly confused.
He had no idea what he did wrong or why Seraphina was suddenly angry.
Seeing her so unhappy, Desmond pondered for a few seconds and then said: "You seem to be in a bad mood, do you still want the noodles?"
Is that what any sensible person would say? Can’t you eat noodles if you’re in a bad mood?
Initially excited about the noodles, Seraphina almost exploded at his words, looking like a child throwing a tantrum, she slammed the cucumber on the table and huffed: "I don’t want it, eat it yourself!"
"Seraphina, what’s wrong?" Desmond thought he must have said something wrong, so he wanted to ask where he had erred.
When a woman is angry, she’s not rational, so Seraphina ignored Desmond, stomped out of the kitchen, leaving him with an angry back.
Rosalie Quinn, who was staying at Seraphina’s house to look after Jude Sinclair since there was no one else, happened to wake up at night, saw the scene, and almost burst into laughter.
She used to think Desmond wasn’t that good of a guy, but seeing him being humbled by Seraphina, her impression of him did a 360-degree turn.
