Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 19: A Promise
CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: A PROMISE
"We didn’t buy any bedding today." Desmond Fairchild’s thin lips parted slightly, and what he said was irrefutable.
Speaking of which, today, after moving in and having hotpot, she went shopping with Jude and was so engrossed that she completely forgot to buy anything for Desmond.
Seraphina Sinclair coughed lightly in embarrassment, "Sorry, Jude and I have been used to living just the two of us and forgot about you."
But you can’t really blame her—it’s always been the two of them, and even when Jude’s godmother was around, everything was arranged by her godmother.
"Where should I sleep?" Desmond lowered his gaze towards Seraphina.
Seraphina thought for a moment, then pointed to Jude’s bedroom, "How about you two share for a night?"
Without a second thought, Desmond refused, "I’m not used to sharing a bed with someone."
"Really?" Seraphina scrutinized him suspiciously. If he doesn’t like sharing a bed, why is he trying to get into hers?
Seemingly seeing through her thoughts, Desmond’s lips curled into a barely noticeable smile, "I just don’t like sleeping with another man."
"..."
After all that was said, Seraphina fully understood. Desmond wasn’t worried about having nowhere to sleep; he was clearly teasing her.
She frowned in displeasure and, inadvertently meeting his deep gaze, felt her heart skip a beat as she pushed him out the door, "I’m going to sleep. Figure out where to sleep on your own."
She wore a modest yet enticing black nightgown that highlighted her snow-white skin, with her dark hair cascading loosely down her back. Even in the most conservative attire, her alluring and sexy mien was enough to make any man crave.
Hadn’t Ethan Lloyd already tasted her body?
The more he thought about it, the darker Desmond’s eyes became, his facial features growing tense.
In the bedroom, Seraphina angrily climbed into bed, mentally calculating. It should have been five million, now it’s seven million.
Having been busy all day, Seraphina fell asleep as soon as she lay down.
Morning sunlight flooded the room, waking Seraphina. Stretching comfortably, she recalled sleeping incredibly well the previous night, with no nightmares.
Suddenly, as she turned over, an impeccably handsome face appeared right before her eyes.
Shocked, Seraphina sat up abruptly, fuming, "Desmond Fairchild! Why are you in my bed again."
Desmond, woken up by her yelling, struggled to open his eyes, heavy with dark circles, and replied slowly after a while, full of gloom, "This is my room."
"How can that be, I..." Seraphina laughed in anger, turning her head to follow Desmond’s gaze, suddenly dumbstruck.
The elegant decor, the simple white sheets, and the room devoid of any clutter were clearly set up temporarily and definitely not her style.
How did she end up in Desmond’s room?
Just as she was about to ask for an explanation, Desmond’s originally half-closed eyes suddenly widened, giving her a playful look, "Who knows who sleepwalked into my room last night and wouldn’t leave. Miss Sinclair, I might have to charge you extra for this."
Seraphina touched her chin, doubtful, but since she already ended up in someone else’s bed, she couldn’t say much and reluctantly agreed, "Alright, name your price."
After all, Desmond was already hers; even if something had happened last night, there wasn’t much to be embarrassed about. But did she really sleepwalk? Why didn’t she have this condition before?
Yet Desmond shook his head slightly, "I don’t want money."
"Then what do you want? A gift? A car? A house?" Seraphina probed.
But Desmond said, "I want a promise from you."
Staring into those black eyes, Seraphina couldn’t help but lose her focus a bit. But she wasn’t stupid; promises couldn’t be given lightly, so she reflexively wanted to refuse.
Before the words of refusal came out, a deep voice entered her ears, "If you find out I’ve lied to you, don’t take our son away from me."
"That’s it?" Seraphina breathed a sigh of relief, thinking it was something more serious.
She originally didn’t plan to meddle much in Desmond’s affairs. As long as he didn’t go back to his old ways, even if he deceived her in another way, she could turn a blind eye and not mind.
Even though Jude never said it, she knew he always wanted a father. Now with his biological father around, even if his past wasn’t that honorable, she wouldn’t let Jude lose his father again.
After thinking for a moment, she slowly said, "As long as you don’t lead Jude astray, I can forgive anything else."
"Alright." Seeing her agree, Desmond nodded slightly, "I have some business to take care of these days, I’ll be back in two days."
It was rare for him to report his whereabouts to a woman.
Upon hearing he was leaving, Seraphina’s delicate face promptly changed color, "I’ve told you to cut ties with those people from the past. Now, as Jude’s father, you should act like one. Don’t make things too difficult for me."
She instinctively thought Desmond was planning to leave her and their son to accompany someone else, naturally feeling displeased.
Desmond’s handsome face immediately darkened at her words, "I told you, I know what I’m doing."
Feeling his displeasure, Seraphina realized she had said something wrong, but she couldn’t bring herself to apologize, coldly saying, "Come back early."
Then she turned and patted her chest fearfully, "Ah, this damn wild man, so fierce!"
