CHAPTER 213: CHAPTER 213: EATING HOTPOT

The way they get along now is especially like a couple who has been married for a long time, very natural.

Seraphina Sinclair is still the shy little wife, her face visibly blushing at his words: "Since when did you get so eloquent?"

"What do you want to eat tonight?" Desmond Fairchild, noticing Seraphina had no unusual reactions, felt even more at ease, pinching her somewhat thin arm, it seemed like he needed to really nourish her properly.

Seraphina Sinclair had gotten used to being taken care of by Desmond. Hooking her arm through his, she started to order: "It’s snowing today, I want something spicy."

Jude Sinclair raised both hands in agreement: "I want some too."

But Seraphina squinted and refused: "You can’t eat spicy, I’ll have your dad make something else for you."

"Just a meal, is it okay?" Jude pouted.

He had the same spicy food palate as his mother; food without chili was genuinely unsatisfying. But Jude knew well that he couldn’t eat anything too greasy.

Yet, after a while, he still couldn’t help his cravings.

Desmond Fairchild went over and rubbed his head, and seeing his pitiful look, he couldn’t help softening, turning to Seraphina to plead, "It’s been a long time since Jude had something spicy, just this once, please?"

Jude quickly hugged Seraphina’s leg, looking at her with longing eyes.

Facing these two identical faces, Seraphina softened, "Alright, just this once today."

"Thanks, Mommy!" Jude was so happy he nearly jumped up.

"He really does love spicy food," Desmond Fairchild rarely saw Jude act so childishly, he couldn’t help but smile.

Seraphina felt a little heartache: "If it wasn’t for my poor health during pregnancy, and not having much money then, Jude wouldn’t be like this."

She blamed herself for not being a good mother.

Desmond held her tightly in his arms, comforting her: "It’s not your fault, it’s mine."

"What’s it got to do with you?" Seraphina found it funny, "You’re not thinking that if you had found us mother and son sooner, we wouldn’t have suffered, are you?"

Desmond didn’t deny it.

His expression amused Seraphina, she giggled, "How could you have known what happened between us at that time, you didn’t expect I’d get pregnant, did you? So it’s not your fault, just my bad luck."

If it wasn’t for bad timing and meeting a jerk, her life wouldn’t have been so rough.

But all that’s in the past now, and their little family of three is doing well. They have to learn to let go of the past.

"Come on, let’s cook, I’m already hungry." With that, Seraphina pushed Desmond toward the kitchen, muttering, "I’ll give you a hand, and learn a bit of cooking too, or else when you’re not around, my son and I will have to order takeout."

Her cooking skills weren’t bad, but they were only at the level of making food edible, not tasty.

Whenever Rosalie Quinn mentioned her lack of cooking skills, she’d always say that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and cooking was her weak point. Previously she couldn’t believe someone could excel at everything, until she met Desmond, and then realized such people do exist.

In that way, comparing people can drive one mad. Once Seraphina accepted Desmond’s all-rounder talent, she just comfortably became a useless wife.

After all, since her husband could do everything, if she could too, it wouldn’t highlight Desmond’s excellence, would it?

Thinking of this, the corners of Seraphina’s mouth slowly lifted, her small hands unconsciously held Desmond’s arm even tighter.

Desmond felt the grip on his arm, laughed silently, and in a voice as gentle as a breeze, said to Seraphina, "Holding me like this, how am I going to cook?"

Realizing it, Seraphina pouted awkwardly and quickly let go of Desmond’s arm: "Oh, sorry, I forgot."

"Didn’t you say you’d help? Wash the vegetables then," Desmond raised an eyebrow, signaling her.

Seraphina reluctantly walked to the fridge and looked up to ask him, "What should I take out? What are we making today?"

"On such a cold day, we’ll have hotpot, something you like to eat." Desmond had long noticed that Seraphina just liked greasy and spicy food like hotpot and barbecue.

It’s perfect because hotpot is convenient to make, and it’s ideal for winter.

Talking about making hotpot, Seraphina’s eyes brightened: "Then I need to wash more vegetables, the green vegetables cooked in hotpot are the best."

The oily vegetables were so delicious.

Saying that, she took out all the vegetables from the fridge, but upon opening the freezer, she realized there wasn’t much meat.

Desmond’s brows furrowed slightly, and he said lightly, "I’ll order takeout."

"No rush, I have an idea, wait for me a moment." Seraphina grinned slyly, wiped her hands on Desmond’s apron, and ran out.

Just when he wondered what she was up to, to his surprise, Seraphina took out her phone and made calls to all her good friends and Desmond’s brothers.

"Rosalie, come to my place for hotpot, there’s a big supermarket by your place, right? We don’t have much meat at home, buy more and bring it over."

"Austin, bring your two younger brothers for hotpot at my place. Kids can’t have alcohol, get Jude some milk at the supermarket on your way."

"By the way, Quentin, I remember you said you have a good bottle of wine, want to sell it to me?"

After calling everyone, Seraphina smiled in satisfaction.

She jogged back to the kitchen with a look asking for praise from Desmond: "How is it? Isn’t my strategy awesome?"

Jude silently gave a thumbs up: "No wonder you’re my mommy, you must spend a lot of time online."

Seraphina raised an eyebrow proudly: "Doesn’t matter if I learned it online or not, as long as it works."

In this freezing weather, ordering takeout takes time and might not even get good stuff, it’s better to have them buy it themselves. Simon Finch, being someone who can cook, would know exactly what to get.

The others could bring what they wanted to eat, wouldn’t that be more convenient?

Everyone who received a call had been in a bad mood the whole day because of Seraphina’s news. Knowing that she wasn’t affected, they all felt relieved.

As for Quentin, although he was a bit heartbroken over his good bottle of wine, he didn’t mind giving it to Seraphina to bring her some luck.

Thinking of that, Quentin grabbed several good bottles of wine and headed straight for Azure Cloud Shores.

No doubt, food lovers gather together.

When it came to having hotpot, everyone came quickly.

Especially Rosalie, the food lover. Even though she was supposed to be out buying meat with Simon Finch, she was the first to arrive.

Rosalie entered and tossed a big bag of meat onto the dining table, giving Seraphina a cheeky wink: "How’s that? Fast, right? I almost bought everything: beef, lamb, ox tripe, you name it."

"Great, giving you a thumbs up," Seraphina raised her chin, giving her a look of appreciation.

Praised, Rosalie was instantly overjoyed, her smile so wide it hid her eyes. She looked around and noticed apart from Seraphina’s family, there was no one else, so she asked, "What’s up? The others aren’t here yet?"
