Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 217: Act According to Circumstances
CHAPTER 217: CHAPTER 217: ACT ACCORDING TO CIRCUMSTANCES
The Azure Cloud Shores originally had quite a few servants, but after Seraphina Sinclair and Desmond Fairchild had a falling out and moved away, they were all sent back. Desmond felt now that their relationship was becoming more stable, it was time to send a few more people to take care of Seraphina.
Feeling prompted to act, Desmond immediately made some phone calls to arrange this.
Not long after, Seraphina saw a group of maids dressed in pastoral uniforms arrive at her home.
Tall and graceful, each one of them more like beauty pageant contestants than maids.
Seraphina looked at the dozen or so maids and couldn’t help but exclaim, "Isn’t this a bit too much?"
"There could never be too many people taking care of you," Desmond said, wrapping his arm around Seraphina, his eyes scanning each maid as his voice turned icy, "From today on, you are the maids here, specifically to take care of the young mistress and the young master. In the future, whatever the young mistress says is your command, do you understand?"
The well-trained maids stood at attention, their voices clear and bright: "Understood."
Seraphina couldn’t help but clap her hands in appreciation. The previous batch of servants had bit of a crush on Desmond, stealing glances at him as they worked. This new batch was entirely different.
Facing such a handsome man like Desmond without even a sidelong glance, they were like they came from the military.
Seraphina wasn’t aware that what she thought casually had indeed become reality.
This group of maids standing before her could also double as bodyguards. All had undergone military service and received rigorous training, proficient in all aspects.
Desmond, concerned about Seraphina’s safety, had Ace specifically transfer this maid squad over to protect her and Jude.
If Seraphina found out, she’d likely say Desmond was making a mountain out of a molehill.
However, having these maids really did make things easier. In such a big house, Seraphina would only tidy up when she had time. When both she and Desmond got busy, they’d hire someone to clean.
With maids cleaning up, Seraphina and Desmond naturally found time to do things a married couple should.
However, with so many people at night, they just shared a bed and slept. Nothing else happened.
The next day at noon, when Seraphina woke up, she noticed for the first time how lively the house was.
Stepping into the living room, a group of people were already there having fun—some playing games, others playing cards. No one was idle.
Actually, this feeling wasn’t bad at all.
Unlike before, when she would wake up to an empty room every day.
She looked around but couldn’t spot Desmond. Unable to resist, she asked, "Where is Desmond?"
Rosalie replied, "Your husband and Quentin Jennings said they had something to take care of at the company and left early. Why, do you miss him?"
"Not really." Seraphina rolled her eyes at Rosalie, watching her cross-legged on the sofa playing games, full of disdain. "You’re a girl, can’t you be a bit more mindful of your image? Look at how you are now. If Mr. Quinn and Mrs. Quinn saw you, you’d definitely get scolded."
Rosalie was indifferent: "It’s not like they can see me anyway. Besides, it’s a secret between us. As long as you don’t tell, how would my parents know?"
Just as she finished speaking, she felt eyes on her. Among them were Austin White and Camille White, along with Irene Rowe and Simon Finch.
What was going on? Were they not treating them as people?
"What are you looking at? You don’t know my parents, Simon wouldn’t tattle." Rosalie huffed, turning back to continue her game.
Faced with the headstrong Rosalie, all anyone could do was smile apologetically. Simon chuckled, "My Rosalie is just a bit childish, don’t mind her."
Everyone present knew Rosalie’s temperament and wouldn’t really take it to heart.
"Where’s Marcus Vance? Did he go back too?" Seraphina asked, noticing everyone was here except Marcus.
Speaking of Marcus, Camille, who shared a room with him last night, furrowed her brow and said, "He’s still sleeping."
Reflecting on how Marcus spent the whole night throwing up, Camille felt a headache. Luckily, being a doctor, she gave Marcus some hangover medicine, otherwise, he probably wouldn’t wake up for another couple of days.
Seeing everyone’s stare, Seraphina felt a bit guilty: "I didn’t do it on purpose, I didn’t know it would turn out like this."
"You didn’t smell the jealousy radiating from President Fairchild? Really?" Rosalie burst out laughing, "I honestly didn’t expect Desmond to be so possessive. I thought a man as aloof as him wouldn’t get jealous. Guess I overestimated. A man’s desire for control is truly frightening."
She had to admit, Desmond was the most possessive man she’d ever seen, at least towards Seraphina.
Seraphina knew Rosalie loved to tease and didn’t want to argue, so she took out her phone to text Desmond.
Given that everyone was around, they definitely had to have lunch together. After lunch, maybe they could visit Grandma Fairchild, as it had been a while since her last visit.
Thinking this, Seraphina voiced it out loud.
Hearing she was about to go out, Rosalie reacted the most, quickly stopping her: "It’s so cold, why go out? Isn’t it nice to stay home and relax?"
"Jude and I haven’t visited Grandma in a long time, we should go." Seraphina calculated, realizing it had been over half a month.
"Grandma Fairchild isn’t unreasonable. Plus, isn’t New Year’s Day coming up? That would be the perfect time to visit her." Irene Rowe chimed in.
Everyone nodded, agreeing with Irene.
Feeling something was off, Seraphina looked at them suspiciously but couldn’t put her finger on it.
Faced with everyone’s strong opposition, Seraphina reluctantly decided to stay home instead.
But why? For two consecutive days, she’d tried to go out and was stopped each time. She wasn’t dense and realized something was amiss.
All these people preventing her from leaving wasn’t without reason. Just what was going on outside that had them so on edge?
Could it be some new scandal or gossip about her?
Those occurrences had become commonplace, and Seraphina thought it couldn’t be just that. If it were merely scandals, with how much she’d been smeared, her tolerance should be better by now.
She couldn’t think of anything that would make everyone stop her from going out.
If she couldn’t go out, Seraphina could only return to her study and open her computer.
After searching the latest news and finding nothing, just a few celebrity gossip pieces that had nothing to do with her.
"Austin, come here, your godmother has something to ask you." Seraphina came out of the study, calling Austin over.
Austin exchanged a glance with Irene, hesitating, but Irene pushed him. "Go, see what you can find out."
