CHAPTER 219: CHAPTER 219: ONCE A MENTAL PATIENT

Seraphina Sinclair was no longer interested in listening to what Ethan Lloyd was saying; her mind was filled with the miserable scenes from her past. She didn’t even dare to think about how she managed to get through that period.

Whenever she thought about it, she almost suffocated.

At some point, her phone slipped from her hand, and her chest ached as if it would split open. She felt as though the air around her was being sucked away, leaving her in agony.

"Godmother!" The closest person, Austin White, quickly embraced Seraphina as she was about to collapse, urgently calling out to Camille White: "Third Brother, come quickly."

The noisy sounds around were already inaudible to Seraphina, her mind overwhelmed with painful memories. Did Desmond Fairchild already know? About her unspeakable past.

She wanted to die.

Why, why was fate so unfair to her? What had she done wrong to deserve such punishment?

Gradually detaching from her body, Seraphina’s gaze slowly faded, and in the next moment, she fainted directly.

Everyone panicked, fearing to see such a scene was why they’d been keeping Seraphina from stepping out, yet they hadn’t anticipated Ethan Lloyd’s nuisance.

The situation for Seraphina this time was significantly worse than before. She had never mentioned the mental hospital to anyone, because this matter was harder to accept than anything.

Now, revisiting the old issue was undoubtedly a fatal blow to her.

Already severely depressed, she was unlikely to recover from this incident for a long time.

Upon receiving the message about Seraphina’s sudden fainting, Desmond Fairchild immediately set aside his work and hurried back to Azure Cloud Shores.

When he arrived, Seraphina was already covered in tubes, her breath extremely unstable, and any carelessness might plunge her into inescapable grief.

Camille White had never looked so serious, dismissing everyone but leaving Desmond Fairchild and Jude Sinclair.

"You are godmother’s closest people, I say these things only to you." Camille spoke with a hint of choke in his voice, heartbroken seeing Seraphina lying lifelessly on the bed.

Desmond Fairchild clenched his fist, his celestial-like handsome face expressionless, yet those familiar with him could clearly see the sorrow in his eyes.

"Godmother’s situation is severe this time; she is trapped in her own thoughts, unwilling to wake up. The mental hospital matter hit her too hard, and unless she overcomes her internal demons, she is likely to remain asleep."

Camille did not want to believe such facts, but the truth was already in front of them, leaving no room for disbelief.

Desmond Fairchild gripped Camille’s shoulder, forceful enough to crush his bones: "Save her."

Camille shook his head, tears in his eyes: "If possible, I naturally want to save godmother. Her illness has been rooted in her heart since six years ago; this is her inner nightmare, now aside from herself waking up, only one method is viable."

"What method?" Desmond trembled tensely, unwilling to give up on Seraphina if there was any glimmer of hope.

"Godmother now lacks the desire to live; if you can find something to give her the hope to live, to break free from the nightmare, there might be a chance." Camille believed this was the only way.

He left Desmond and Jude behind only because they were the most important people to Seraphina; perhaps their efforts could awaken her.

Desmond disregarded all else, humbly pleading, his voice reaching Camille: "Tell me how, what can I do to save her."

Jude’s watery eyes were fixed on Camille, with a sobbing voice he said: "Third Brother, if anything can awaken mommy, dad and I are willing to do anything."

Camille sighed: "Truly, I have no better solution, now it only depends if you can pull godmother back. She is mentally shattered, her consciousness is back to years ago. You must talk to her daily, let her thoughts return to the present, let her feel safety and new hope, maybe she will wake."

"What’s the success rate?" Desmond’s heart was in turmoil, needing the answer yet fearing to know.

"Thirty percent success rate, but if not attempted, godmother staying eternally asleep is a hundred percent." Camille didn’t want to accept such an outcome either, but now all lives depended on it.

Thirty percent? Desmond staggered back by two steps hearing this, his brightness dimming.

Only thirty percent chance; failure would mean Seraphina becoming a permanent vegetal state, never to awaken.

Jude, who had managed to hold back, burst into tears upon hearing Camille’s calculated data.

He sobbed, throwing himself onto Camille’s chest, pleading: "Third Brother, I beg you, save mommy, please save her."

He didn’t want a dormant mommy, he wanted a living mommy.

Tears sparkled at Desmond’s eye corners, he aged ten years in an instant.

He hadn’t anticipated the severity of Seraphina’s condition; if he had known, he should not have kept Ethan Lloyd and Melanie Lloyd, the deceitful duo.

"Jude, rest assured, Third Brother will exert all efforts to awaken godmother." Camille choked, assuring Jude.

"Right." Jude wailed.

No one wanted the situation to escalate to this extent; Rosalie Quinn and the others wept bitterly upon learning the result.

She broke down, got to her feet, crying out to kill Ethan Lloyd.

Simon Finch stopped her again, but she struggled out of Simon’s embrace and directly rushed outside.

Seeing this, Simon quickly followed.

Rosalie stormed into Ethan Lloyd’s company, ignoring everyone’s hindrance, barging in with a baseball bat.

It was uncertain if it was due to Lloyd Group’s impending collapse or some reason else, but unexpectedly no guards came forward to stop her.

She smoothly walked into Ethan Lloyd’s office.

When she arrived at the office, Ethan was hiding under the table, shivering in fear. Now, he was mentally disturbed by various death threats and didn’t notice Rosalie Quinn rushing in.

"Ethan Lloyd, get out here!" Rosalie kicked the sofa hard, swinging a baseball bat and smashing things around.

"Ethan Lloyd, if you don’t come out, I’m going to wreck your office!" Rosalie said while smashing. In an instant, Ethan’s office was in shambles, leaving a scene of devastation.

There seemed to be some noise from under the office desk,

Rosalie followed the sound and saw Ethan hiding over the desk, not daring to come out.

Upon seeing Ethan’s face, anger welled up inside her, and she forcefully dragged him out from under the table. Seeing him in such a disheveled state only made her more furious.

"Scumbag, go to hell!" Rosalie swung the bat at Ethan with all her might.

Although Ethan was scared, he wasn’t stupid, and immediately raised his hand to shield his head.

The weight of the bat struck him fiercely, causing him to grimace in pain.

Rosalie was, of course, still not satisfied; thinking of Seraphina Sinclair potentially becoming a coma patient made her wish she had a knife to kill him.

"It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, Seraphina wouldn’t be suffering so much. Why don’t you die? How do you still dare to call Seraphina for help? You should just die right now! You dog!" Rosalie was so angry that tears welled up in her eyes. The more she thought of Seraphina’s situation, the sadder she felt, and the deeper her hatred for Ethan grew, resulting in her strikes getting heavier.

When Simon Finch arrived, Ethan had already been beaten by Rosalie to the point where he was barely breathing.

She was still not satisfied, and if Simon hadn’t intervened, she might have beaten Ethan to death.

After being held back by Simon, Rosalie glared at him with blood-red eyes: "Let go, or I’ll beat you too."

"Rosalie, he’s almost dead." Simon tightly gripped the baseball bat, his eyes filled with regret and compassion, "For such a person, killing him would only dirty your own hands; he’s done countless evil deeds and will naturally be punished by the law."

How could Rosalie be reconciled? She cried, "If the law would punish him, he wouldn’t be able to roam free till now. Seraphina wouldn’t be unconscious because of him. He deserves to die, you know? He deserves to die."

"I know he deserves to die, but he can’t die by your hand." Simon tightly gripped Rosalie’s hand and coaxingly embraced her, "You have to believe in Seraphina’s strong spirit; she’ll be fine and will wake up soon. When she wakes up, let her take revenge herself."

"You’re right, Seraphina is blessed and destined to wake up." Rosalie was convinced that Seraphina would certainly wake up.

She kicked Ethan hard once more, spat at him: "Rotten jerk, I’ll leave you alive; when Seraphina wakes, you won’t have a good time."

After being persuaded by Simon, Rosalie left.

Ethan thought he had escaped a catastrophe, having survived by playing dead, he was ready to dial for emergency help. Unexpectedly, before he could touch his phone, a foot in a black leather shoe stomped it onto the ground.

A devilish voice sounded above his head: "Trying to save yourself?"

"Who are you..." Ethan was in so much pain he could barely think straight, looking up toward the man against the light, unable to see his face clearly.

"The one sending you to hell." A bloodthirsty voice carried a chilling coldness.

Before Ethan could resist, a heavy blow landed on the back of his head, causing him to lose consciousness instantly.

The next day.

Due to tax evasion and fraud amounting to several billion, the Lloyd Group was shut down by the police and consequently removed from Bayside City.

Rumors spread saying Ethan Lloyd of the Lloyd Group mysteriously disappeared yesterday, along with Melanie Lloyd, his wife.

The couple vanished from the public eye, leaving no trace.

No one knew where the Lloyd couple went.

Some guessed they fled overnight to escape numerous crimes, others speculated they committed suicide, while some thought they were kidnapped.

With theories abounding, no concrete truth existed.

At Azure Cloud Shores.

Seraphina Sinclair had been in a coma for over a week. Outside, stories about Ethan Lloyd and his wife’s disappearance were circulating, yet Seraphina’s past events were no longer mentioned.

Meanwhile, out of nowhere, a slew of scandals involving Ethan and Melanie were exposed, flooding Bayside City with Ethan Lloyd’s gossip.

No one attended to Seraphina’s situation, nor did anyone know that Kevin’s president was still in a coma, not yet awakened.

Upon learning that Seraphina had collapsed, Old Mrs. Fairchild hurried from the Fairchild Family to care for her.

She had read the previous news, and now felt even more sympathetic toward Seraphina. Such a good girl, ruined by that beast Ethan Lloyd into this state.

"Seraphina, if you don’t wake up soon, Jude’s tears will dry from crying." Old Mrs. Fairchild sat by her bedside, looking at the pallid face of Seraphina, her eyes moistening.

Jude Sinclair curled up beside Seraphina, like a little squirrel always by her side. Previously, he was not much of a talker, but now, he was transformed into a chatterbox, buzzing around Seraphina nonstop.

Regarding Desmond Fairchild, he truly spent day and night guarding her side; a man usually so silent, at Seraphina’s side he could speak from morning till night.

At this moment, he held Seraphina’s cold little hand, continuously warming it, "Seraphina, are you choosing to sleep now because you want to hibernate? Although winter is cold, if you don’t wake up soon, you’ll miss the New Year’s dinner."
