CHAPTER 247: CHAPTER 247: THE WHITE FAMILY SIBLINGS LOOKING FOR TROUBLE
"Really? Then I’ll tidy up later and go see her. I miss her since it’s been so long," Nina Kerr said, showcasing a look of longing on her delicate face, her big eyes gleaming with brightness.
"I think so too. There aren’t many women in our family, and Skylark is not much of a talker. Now that you’re here, make sure to keep her company when you have time," Old Master White said with a smile.
Nina nodded obediently, "Grandpa, don’t worry, you can leave this to me."
Skylight Villa.
Fiona Dunn was pacing back and forth in the living room, looking like an ant on a hot pan, restless for even a moment.
Seeing how calm Seraphina Sinclair appeared, she couldn’t help but burst out, "Don’t you have any sense of crisis? Nina Kerr’s already back, yet you’re still so calm? She’s gone straight to Old Master White, aren’t you afraid she’ll backstab you?"
"Fiona, have you ever heard this saying?" Jude Sinclair, sitting on the sofa, suddenly spoke up, watching Fiona pacing in circles.
"What saying?" Fiona frowned.
"When soldiers come, deal with them; when water comes, cover it with earth." Jude said, munching on potato chips, his clear eyes looking at Seraphina, "My mom’s not that dumb. If Aunt Nina really wants to stir up trouble, I won’t let her off either."
Fiona rolled her eyes, "What does a little brat like you know? You have no idea how terrifying Nina can be."
"And you do?" Jude asked, puzzled.
"Anyway, she’s not a good person. Don’t be fooled by her gentle lady demeanor; she’s got a black heart," Fiona said, feeling nauseated just thinking about Nina’s pretentious face.
Seraphina finally lifted her head, leisurely looking at Fiona, "You seem to know quite a bit about Nina. As far as I know, she hasn’t offended you. Why do you have such a big bias against her?"
Although Nina indeed was not kind, as Seraphina recalled, they had quite a bit of interaction, yet Nina had never done anything to Fiona. Seraphina couldn’t understand why Fiona disliked her so much.
"It’s a long story. I just hate her. Isn’t there a saying, ’The enemy of my enemy is my friend?’ I’m announcing a temporary truce with you to take on our common enemy." Fiona said, raising her fist to cheer herself up.
Seraphina chuckled, "I never said I wanted to team up with you."
Fiona looked dissatisfied, "Do you have any sense? I’m lowering myself to cooperate with you, and yet you don’t appreciate it."
"Are you sure you’re here to help me? Not to set me up?" Seraphina expressed deep skepticism about Fiona’s inexplicable confidence.
"You’re just ungrateful!" Fiona was fuming, "Fine, if you don’t want to cooperate, let’s see how badly Nina bullies you!"
With that, she stomped her foot and ran out.
Seraphina watched her leave with a helpless smile on her face.
Actually, Fiona really wasn’t annoying.
Jude sat on the sofa swinging his little legs, his round, bun-like face showing an adorable expression, "Mommy, Fiona’s really interesting."
"Hmm," Seraphina didn’t refute.
The thing about people is, you’re always afraid of what you say.
Fiona had just given a heads-up, and Nina was already making a move.
Joel White sent a message, saying that because Nina was back on the island, Old Master White wanted her to bring Jude over for a family meal, and the message seriously mentioned that Nina really wanted to see her.
Claiming to want to see her was false, really wanting to see how she was doing was true.
A hint of contempt flashed across Seraphina’s lips, sneering at Nina’s fake kindness.
"Mommy, since Aunt Nina wants us to come, let’s go see what tricks she’s up to," Jude, with his wits beyond his years, said, his eyes rolling, plotting some idea.
Seraphina shared the same thought; there was no avoiding it eventually. Since they’re all on the island, better to go see what kind of game she wants to play.
Since it was a family feast, Seraphina casually put on a white dress, simple yet elegant.
When arriving at the old White Family residence, everyone was already seated, just waiting for Seraphina and Jude.
Fiona was at the table as Joel’s fiancée.
Though called a family feast, it was just about ten people.
Mostly it was the younger generation, along with Austin’s uncles.
Seraphina’s late arrival naturally drew a wave of taunts.
Reina White, the cousin to the White Brothers, was the most displeased with Seraphina, so with this rare opportunity, how could she pass it up?
So she impatiently said to Seraphina and Jude, "I thought it was some prestigious guest, making us wait for so long, turns out it’s you? Clearly from the countryside, lacking any manners."
"Isn’t that right? I thought it was some royal visit, to make such a fuss when the old man invited us to a meal," Luna White chimed in.
Luna was Reina’s younger sister, young but crafty, like her brother, always disliked Seraphina.
Yet they both adored Nina, each time Nina didn’t even have to speak, they’d jump in defense, this time being no exception.
Seraphina didn’t argue with them, giving Old Master White an apologetic smile, "Grandpa, I’m late."
"Not at all, not at all, we just sat down, come take a seat," Old Master White patted the spot next to him, motioning for Jude to come over.
Jude quickly scampered over to Old Master White’s side, giving him a sweet smile, "Great Grandpa, I haven’t seen you for two days, and you look even younger."
Though Jude’s words were clearly flattery, they were charming coming from his mouth, making Old Master White grin from ear to ear, patting Jude’s head in praise, "Your little mouth is sweet as honey."
"Jude’s just speaking the truth." Jude sat next to Old Master White with a serious expression.
"Good, good, great grandpa’s very happy," Old Master White was amused by Jude’s sincerity.
Luna, seeing this grandfather-grandson duo carrying on, interrupted, "So young and already such a sycophant, truly a little flatterer."
Jude peeked his little head out from beside Old Master White, gazing innocently at Luna with a bit of grievance, "Did I say something wrong? Why is sister Luna so fierce?"
"Luna! Jude is your brother, how can you speak like that?" Luna’s father reprimanded before the old man could.
Luna, unwilling to yield, argued, "What did I say? Did I say anything wrong? So young and already knows how to flatter, grows up to be a useless sycophant."
The one thing Seraphina could never tolerate was anyone insulting Jude.
She could accept insults directed at herself, but she’d never let Jude endure the same.
Her sharp eyes swept over Luna’s face, and she couldn’t help but laugh, "Already seventeen and still in middle school, indeed impressive."
