CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: FATHER AND SON GAMES

Seraphina Sinclair recalled last night’s events and couldn’t meet Desmond Fairchild’s eyes. Seeing him approach with something in hand, she instinctively turned her head away, avoiding looking at his face.

"Just put it down, I’ll eat it later."

"It’s hangover soup, drink it." He was never a man of many words; if it had been any other woman, her life and death would have been none of his concern. But facing Seraphina now, he couldn’t remain indifferent.

Seraphina bit her red lip, unsure how to face Desmond. Her temples were still painfully throbbing, and as she reached out to rub them, the bowl of pitch-black hangover soup was already at her lips.

She turned her head to meet Desmond’s serious and solemn gaze. He looked at her steadily, his tone carrying a touch of firmness, "Drink it."

"I’ll drink it, no need to be so fierce," Seraphina, indeed suffering from a bad headache, swallowed her pride and opened her mouth, taking the spoon in.

It tasted awful, and Seraphina winced at the taste, but seeing Desmond’s gaze, she didn’t have the heart to pour it out.

She had no choice but to hold her breath and drink it all down at once.

Desmond probably knew the hangover soup tasted bad, so he seamlessly followed with a bowl of hot porridge.

Millet porridge is a whole grain; eating whole grains for breakfast is indeed good for the stomach.

Seraphina quickly grabbed the bowl from Desmond’s hand and finished the porridge in just a few gulps.

After having the hot porridge, her stomach felt warm, and the nausea significantly subsided.

Despite that, she still felt somewhat weak and snuggled back into the blanket, revealing only her clear, large eyes.

Desmond showed no intention of leaving. He quietly sat by the bed, saying nothing, just watching her in a way that made her feel uneasy.

Not knowing how much time had passed, Seraphina couldn’t take the strange atmosphere any longer and spoke in a muffled voice, "Thank you for bringing me home last night and for taking care of me all night."

"In the future, if I’m not around, don’t drink that much," Desmond lowered his gaze, his tone not exactly gentle.

Last night, in Seraphina’s condition, if it hadn’t been him, any other man could have taken her away.

The thought that such a scenario was possible made Desmond’s eyes darken, his demeanor radiating a chilling aura.

Seraphina was not the type to act recklessly. Being warned by him like this warmed her heart slightly, and she coughed gently before replying quietly, "I understand."

After resting for a day, Seraphina felt much better and officially took over Kevin Group. Thinking about how Jude Sinclair didn’t have any classes today and that Desmond didn’t adhere to the contract obligations, living a lavish life outside, it would be better for him to stay home and watch the child.

She trusted the security here, but there are always unexpected events.

Seraphina looked up and glared at him, speaking in a harsh tone, "Desmond Fairchild, I have to go to work, and I don’t feel safe with my son home alone. You should go back and take care of him."

The son was so well-behaved and thoughtful that he would give her a kiss to reassure her when she went to work.

"Alright."

Half an hour after Seraphina left, Quentin Jennings showed up uninvited at Azure Cloud Shores No. 88, eagerly pressing the doorbell, "Desmond, Desmond, open the door, I’m here to see your son."

Jude glanced at his dad, "Is the silly uncle outside your friend?"

Desmond got up with a look of disdain and went to open the door.

"Little fellow?" Quentin was the first to rush in, directly ignoring Desmond behind him.

Jude looked at him expressionlessly, his features a spitting image of Desmond’s.

Quentin’s eyes lit up, circling around little Jude several times, "What’s your name, little guy?"

"Jude Sinclair."

"You’re actually not surnamed Fairchild?" Quentin was surprised. Desmond, such a ’straight-male cancer’ guy, could stand this?

Turning around, he saw Desmond’s gaze, looking on with a seemingly amused, yet ominous intent.

Jude didn’t expect this man’s emotional intelligence to be so low and couldn’t help but curl his lips, "Uncle, if you know how to talk, say a few more words."

Quentin awkwardly chuckled, secretly thinking that he’s indeed just like his dad and would surely remain single until thirty!

Two grown men taking care of a child, Desmond was filled with fatherly love, wanting to make it up to Jude.

He took them down to the basement home theater, where there was a game room.

A boy who doesn’t play games as a kid has no spirit.

Upon seeing the game console, Quentin’s eyes sparkled. He was quite the skilled player.

Yet, he didn’t expect to be utterly defeated in several rounds of shooting games with Jude. Staring at the blackened screen before him, Quentin couldn’t help but doubt himself. Are kids so formidable these days, or has his skill regressed?

"Not challenging at all. Son, are you playing against a bot?" Desmond patted his son’s head; his son was just that outstanding!

"If you’re good, you play." Quentin moved aside, provocatively looking at him. Desmond sat down, only to defeat Quentin, who had beaten Jude with ease, in no time at all.

"Little guy, you weren’t going easy on me?" Quentin made a final effort to struggle.

Jude was already displeased, and hearing this, his face darkened further, directly returning Quentin’s own words to him, "If you’re good, you play."

Quentin: "..." No, no, what kind of monsters is this family?

Meanwhile, at Kevin Group

Seraphina Sinclair, newly appointed, immediately initiated an internal and external company reorganization, swiftly dismissing the unsatisfied top management within a few days with her thunderous tactics. Those higher-ups waited to see how the company would operate without them.

However, the next moment, replacements with strong abilities stepped up, stunning everyone with their rich resumes.

Big finance moguls from Aurelia Financial Street had actually come here to take on subservient director roles, along with professional managers coveted by elite companies, coming here to take on modest managerial roles.

What kind of capital force did the big boss have behind them?

After witnessing her terrifying connections, they all turned from skeptics to fans, wholeheartedly working for her.

Seraphina took the documents, turning to the collaboration proposal sent by Lloyd Group. Upon seeing those three familiar characters, a flash of hatred crossed her clear eyes, and a bloodthirsty smile appeared on her lips.

After the Lloyd Group had married into the Sinclair Family a few years ago, they indeed rose quickly in Bayside City.

Unfortunately, over the years, due to Ethan’s mismanagement, the company was no longer what it once was.

Plus, his vicious nature had offended many people, and now the Lloyd Group was no longer what it used to be.

On the surface, it still appeared as a flourishing giant corporation, but internally, economic crises, project fund shortfalls, and various issues were gradually surfacing.

Ethan Lloyd was desperate to latch onto Kevin Company to enter the highly profitable raw pearls industry and quickly recoup funds.

Thus, he frantically sought to contact Kevin’s key person.

In recent days, calls and messages came in non-stop. Seraphina watched the Lloyd Group’s stock flirting with suspension but remained unmoved.

Seraphina handed the document to Irene Rowe, "Schedule the meeting with the Lloyd Group last."

Let them stew anxiously like ants on a hot pan.

After work, driving home, Seraphina, who had been fine while focused on work, was now consumed by worry all the way home about whether Jude was okay, and whether Desmond had gotten home in time to care for their son.

However, upon arriving home and seeing the scene, Seraphina’s face instantly darkened like a stormy cloud, "Desmond Fairchild! What on earth have you bought?"

Look at this place, filled with snacks, toys, Transformers. Did they bring the whole supermarket home?

Taking her three hundred thousand and spending it so recklessly?

Jude swiftly hid behind Desmond, blinking his large eyes, "Dad bought these, is Mama upset?"

Seeing Seraphina scold their son so fiercely, Desmond, feeling distressed, picked up Jude, frowned, and said, "Do you usually scold my son like this? How can a kid have no toys? I, Desmond Fairchild’s son, can have any toys he wants!"
