CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28: DADDY, SAVE ME

At half-past ten in the evening, Desmond Fairchild returned to Azure Cloud Shores.

Seraphina Sinclair was sitting on the sofa in a silk nightgown dress, while Jude Sinclair was playing with toys on the carpet in his little pajamas. For some unknown reason, Jude suddenly woke up in the middle of his sleep.

He said he missed his dad, and Seraphina gritted her teeth in frustration. Just a few days, and her son’s heart had already been swayed!

Seraphina leaned back and asked casually, "Where did you go, why are you back so late?"

Desmond raised his eyebrow and loosened his tie as he walked towards Seraphina, letting out a simple phrase with his seductive thin lips that left Seraphina at a loss for words: "Overtime."

"Overtime?" Seraphina exclaimed, mouth wide open, "Did you actually go job hunting?"

No wonder, no wonder he went to Cloudsea Group today.

"Yeah." Desmond responded lightly, mixing truth with falsehood, "I asked Quentin to find me a job, and now I’m working at Cloudsea Group."

It’s not exactly lying; he is indeed working at Cloudsea Group.

Seraphina understood that he wasn’t deceiving her. She had been a bit skeptical earlier, but now she was reassured.

"What are you doing?" Seraphina asked curiously.

This question truly stumped Desmond. He pondered for a moment, "Just some simple tasks, like operations management and the sort."

If he had such skills, then why did he engage in those activities earlier? Seraphina was a bit puzzled but still encouraged, "Make sure to do well. I believe that as long as you work hard, you can achieve success. If you don’t understand something, you can always ask me."

"You know these things?"

"Of course, I was really good at sales planning before."

"Yeah, it’s like the business was doing well, scared everyone so much during the promotional period that no one dared to enter the store for half a month." Jude quipped coldly from the side.

"Well, I was also pretty good at operations management!" Seraphina protested, feeling a bit annoyed about being exposed.

"Yeah, ten or so people resigned in a month; if it went on, the company would become an empty shell." Jude nodded, chewing on a chip.

"Alright Jude, seems like you’re getting cheeky lately under your dad’s backing, huh!" Seraphina clenched her fists, getting up from her seat, scaring Jude into tossing away his chips and jumping up to hide behind Desmond.

"Daddy, save me!"

Desmond held a smile at the corner of his mouth, standing in front of Jude: "Come on, come on, I’ve just found a job. How about I treat you both to dinner?"

Seraphina shot Jude a glare, her face saying, "Spare your life," then shrugged with an expression that sympathized with Desmond’s hard-earned money, "Forget it, it’s not easy for you to earn money. Let’s wait for your paycheck to celebrate."

"Tomorrow I want to take Jude out to play, do you want to join us?" Desmond asked.

Seraphina immediately refused, "No, company stuff needs attention this weekend, you two enjoy yourselves."

"Mommy, come with us. We’ve never gone out as a family." The little one rarely showed a pitiful expression, blinking expectantly.

Even though Jude rarely whined, even after seeing it for ten years, Seraphina still couldn’t resist her son’s charming face and couldn’t bear to say no.

Seraphina relented, "Alright, Mommy will come too."

Given that, first things first, work needs to be done.

At two in the morning, Seraphina was still at her desk, furiously typing, with a half-meter high pile of documents in front of her, several of which were opened, with red-pen notes highlighting numerous details.

Focused on her overtime, she did not notice the half-open door, where Desmond stood leaning, watching her for a long time.

He gazed unwaveringly at the working Seraphina, her exquisite, beautiful face bare of any distracting expressions, fully engaged with the computer, her fingers flying over the keyboard. Soon, more annotated documents stacked beside her.
