CHAPTER 52: CHAPTER 52: THE PINK DIAMOND BELONGS TO SERAPHINA SINCLAIR
"Did you donate this pink diamond?" Shirley Lynch looked at Seraphina Sinclair and then at Desmond Fairchild in the distance, seemingly realizing something. She stepped back two paces, pointed at Seraphina, and then pointed at Desmond below the stage, "You two, working together to set me up!"
The media nearby witnessed this scene and frantically pressed their camera shutters.
Although they were unaware of Seraphina Sinclair’s identity, someone who would give away a pink diamond worth tens of millions couldn’t be a simple person.
After tonight, the dynamics in Bayside City were sure to change.
"Pay up, and I’ll hand it over. I need the money to donate too, and Miss Lynch, surely you understand the auction rules?" Seraphina’s eyes narrowed slightly, and her tone turned a bit more dangerous.
She originally had no intention of competing with Shirley Lynch, but Shirley’s sharp words were pushing her limits. Seraphina had tried to ignore her, but Shirley kept provoking her, so it was out of her hands now.
Shirley Lynch was about to explode with anger, her voice becoming shrill, "Seraphina Sinclair! Where did you get the pink diamond? Did Desmond buy even this for you? And you still donated it?!"
"Such things, I have plenty at home!" Seraphina said nonchalantly, "Isn’t it a good thing to do some charity? Besides, it’s funny to see someone like you walked into the trap; Miss Lynch’s ’charity’ spirit is so strong you donated an entire month’s revenue of the Lynch Group, didn’t you?" Seraphina chuckled, but her words hit all of Shirley Lynch’s sore spots.
The hatred in Shirley Lynch’s eyes grew stronger, as if she wished to tear Seraphina Sinclair apart.
Seraphina took a step back and blinked, "In front of everyone, you wouldn’t actually, in a fit of shame, try to hit me, would you, Miss Lynch?"
The host also sensed the tension and quickly intervened, saying loudly, "Miss Sinclair, Miss Lynch, your awards have been prepared. Thank you both for your contributions to the charity!"
The reporters took several photos from the side. Shirley Lynch’s face looked unpleasant, but with so many people and media present, she couldn’t lose her temper, so she pulled out a bank card.
"Take it, the password is the last six digits of the card number!" Shirley Lynch said reluctantly.
"Would you two like to take a photo together? The pink diamond Miss Lynch bid on will be delivered to your home by someone afterwards."
Shirley Lynch had no interest in taking a photo, and she firmly left behind three words, "No need."
Desmond Fairchild was below the stage, watching as Seraphina Sinclair looked amusedly at Shirley Lynch’s departing figure, then turned her head to wink at him, her mouth slightly open, lip-syncing "Am I great or what?"
Desmond nodded, a smile playing on his lips, though his curiosity deepened. This woman never ceased to surprise him.
As the two of them exited the auction venue, many people approached Seraphina Sinclair, asking for her contact details. After all, someone beautiful and wealthy naturally attracts a lot of interest. However, Desmond Fairchild intercepted every one of them.
Once they were in the car, Desmond’s face didn’t look too cheerful.
"What’s wrong?"
"Don’t attend these kinds of banquets anymore," Desmond said sullenly.
"Why?" Seraphina asked, curious.
Desmond held Seraphina’s hand, turning his head away, "Because I say no, that’s why."
"Pfft!" Seraphina burst out laughing, "Desmond Fairchild, don’t tell me you’re jealous!"
Desmond’s expression stiffened at being called out, and he didn’t say anything.
For some reason, Seraphina felt a sweetness rising in her heart, and she squeezed Desmond’s hand gently, softening her voice, "I’m hungry, I want some late-night snacks."
