Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 66: Looking for a Girlfriend
CHAPTER 66: CHAPTER 66: LOOKING FOR A GIRLFRIEND
"What’s wrong? Why the long face? Did Joel White rub off on you?" Seraphina Sinclair found his expression somewhat amusing and walked over to sit beside him.
"Godmother, I discovered some things earlier, things that might not be pleasant for you." Austin White hesitated before glancing at Seraphina Sinclair.
"What kind of things?"
"Godmother, have you ever thought that perhaps your father’s death might have had another cause?"
Seraphina Sinclair felt as if she had been struck by lightning, frozen in place. Could there be another reason for her father’s death?
If not due to illness, what could it be?
Seraphina Sinclair frowned. After her father passed away, the Sinclair Corp merged with the Lloyd Group. Ethan Lloyd had vowed at her father’s deathbed to take good care of her. However, after Ethan’s father passed away, she was framed and confined to a mental institution...
These incidents transformed into demons in countless dark nights, almost dragging her into the abyss as she lay in bed.
She had thought at that time that if her father were still alive, he would certainly protect her. At least Ethan Lloyd wouldn’t have dared to be so reckless.
Thinking it over, if Melanie Lloyd had already hooked up with Ethan, then with her father’s death, the main beneficiaries would undoubtedly be the two of them.
"After the Lloyd Group swallowed up the Sinclair Corp, they sold it off within a few years. Through some connections, I managed to find some of the old Sinclair employees and uncovered some vague information." Austin paused, then continued.
"However, they don’t know much, only bits and pieces. I haven’t got more details yet."
Seraphina Sinclair remained silent for a long time. Remembering how Ethan said her father killed Melanie Lloyd’s child, she suddenly felt a chill.
Even though she had long seen that man’s true colors, she still couldn’t help feeling a bit cold listening to what Austin had revealed.
That man, appearing gentle on the surface, was secretly engaging in unspeakable dirty deeds.
Perhaps the things he did behind her back were far more than she currently knew.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her slightly reddened eyes and tightly clenched hands revealed the storm raging inside her.
"I have evidence of the Lloyd Group cooking the books, but this is far from enough. We’ll wait until the time is right to act." After a long time, Seraphina Sinclair exhaled deeply and then spoke.
Austin White opened his mouth but finally nodded in agreement.
Returning to his bedroom, Austin’s previously warm and sunny face turned cold immediately. He took out his phone, the cold light reflecting off his indifferent and sinister expression, quite different from the cheerful person in Seraphina’s presence.
He dialed a number, which connected instantly. In a lazy tone, he said softly, "Keep investigating."
If they dare to push Seraphina and Jude Sinclair to the brink, there will be retribution; let them see who faces the end first.
Desmond Fairchild didn’t return all night, and Seraphina didn’t ask what he was doing. The information Austin provided today was overwhelming, and she needed time alone to digest it.
Recently, with the Kevin Group cooperating with Cloudsea Group on the new product launch, Seraphina got busy and planned to check the preparation progress at the release venue early in the morning.
Austin, feeling bored, pestered her until she finally couldn’t resist and took him along.
The venue was bustling, with Irene Rowe hurrying around to greet people, arrange the venue, and check the security, busy as a bee.
"I thought you’d forgotten all about this." Irene Rowe spotted Seraphina Sinclair and Austin from afar and approached with a resigned expression.
"See, here I am. A guest came over, so I had to play host for a while, didn’t I?" Seraphina chuckled and pulled Austin in front as a shield.
Irene glanced at Austin and suddenly smiled, her red lips curving slightly, and let out a loud whistle with a seductive charm.
Teasingly, she remarked, "President Sinclair, your little brother is quite handsome, isn’t he?"
"Not a brother, a godson, so he should call you ’Auntie’ I suppose," Seraphina replied unceremoniously.
Irene: "..."
Austin, caught unexpectedly, simply smiled, watching the two of them jest at each other.
"Why isn’t anyone from Cloudsea Group here today?" Seraphina glanced around, noticing only their company’s people, which seemed odd.
"Cloudsea Group ran into some issues yesterday. I heard their security system got breached by hackers, and they lost a lot of important data. They’re probably all busy back at their company today." Irene shrugged as she explained.
Seraphina was a bit surprised, hacked? Normally, Cloudsea Group should have pretty robust security systems.
"Do you know any specific details?" Seraphina asked.
For some reason, it just felt off, could it have something to do with what Austin mentioned about the people from continent Y yesterday?
"I’m not sure either, let’s just hope it won’t affect the weekend’s launch." Irene said.
After a moment’s thought, Seraphina decided to call Desmond Fairchild to find out what happened.
After all, her prosperity was now tied with Cloudsea Group, any losses there might affect Kevin too.
With a nod towards the door, Seraphina stepped outside with her phone in hand.
Irene raised an eyebrow, looking at Austin who was left behind, and said with a smile, "Hey handsome, since you’re free, why not lend a hand?"
"Just call me Austin, happy to help. What needs doing?" Austin felt a rare moment of embarrassment under Irene’s gaze.
"Just setting up the place. By the way, ever had a girlfriend, young man?" Irene lifted a box from the floor, placing it in Austin’s hands, grabbed another for herself, and walked briskly in heels towards the backstage, teasing him along the way.
"No, Miss Irene, would you like to introduce one to me?" Austin responded earnestly, showing no signs of awkwardness.
Irene turned to see his bright eyes full of expectation, once again marveling at how Seraphina surrounded herself with striking people.
Shame he’s a bit young, or she’d snatch him up herself!
"Without a girlfriend, how does President Sinclair act as a godmother? Shouldn’t she be setting you up with someone?" Irene shook her head.
Austin pondered for a moment, looking at Irene: "Perhaps my godmother believes I wouldn’t have trouble finding girlfriends, but no worries; if I find someone I like, I’ll take the initiative..."
Irene’s lips curved slightly, "Oh? Are kids your age that proactive? Are you even of age?"
When Seraphina returned, unable to get through to Desmond, she was momentarily taken aback by how engrossed Irene and Austin were in conversation, but she didn’t join in and instead went up on stage to check how the setup looked.
"Move that flower pot over this way." She instructed the staff on adjustments while scanning the setup with concentration.
Unexpectedly, as she focused intently on potential discrepancies, the overhead fixture gave way and toppled towards her, drawing a shrill scream from the employees.
"President Sinclair!" A cry went up among the crowd, and Austin’s face went rigid as he glanced up.
Sensing something was off, but too late to react, Seraphina’s legs felt like they were cemented to the ground.
In a critical moment, she was pushed forward a step, and amidst the shouting and a muffled groan in her ear, she fell.
