CHAPTER 71: CHAPTER 71: A SHOW OF DOMINANCE

As she moved around the hall, Seraphina Sinclair was frowning and observing her.

When did the security at Azure Cloud Shores get so lax, allowing a stranger to come in so easily? It was forgivable last time with Melanie Lloyd but now another one?

Looks like I need to find an opportunity to lodge a proper complaint!

Thinking of this, Seraphina couldn’t help but consider Desmond Fairchild.

Could it be she’s here looking for him? Maybe another one of his financiers. The thought of this ignited a surge of anger within her chest. No matter how many times I’ve emphasized, it seems he hasn’t taken my words to heart, even giving others our home address.

Seraphina closed the book in her hand, stood up from the couch, and asked with a tone that was polite yet firm, "And you are?"

"Me?" Morgan Fairchild’s eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly surprised by Seraphina Sinclair’s question, followed by a strong wave of discontent. "You don’t recognize me?"

"..." Does she really have to know her?

Morgan couldn’t help but glance at the few maids nearby—yes, they were all brought over from the old house.

This should be the place where Desmond just moved into. The thought of this made her more confident.

"New here?" Morgan Fairchild elegantly posed, but her gaze was condescending as she scrutinized Seraphina, this maid seemed attractive?

Reaching out, she lightly tugged the book from Seraphina’s hand, then with a flick of her finger, lazily tossed it to the floor. Seraphina was inexplicably startled and surprised by Morgan’s actions, never expecting such an audacious attitude.

Moreover, what kind of guest behaves so rudely!

Before she could speak, the other fired off a series of sarcastic remarks, leaving her somewhat exasperated.

Morgan Fairchild, arms crossed arrogantly, lifted the corners of her mouth into a haughty and disdainful smile. If she didn’t establish her dominance over a new maid, how could she manage?

Though she had come here with a request, she considered the maid a dime-a-dozen. Surely Desmond won’t trouble himself over this.

"You should act like a maid if you’re working for our Fairchild Family."

Seeing Seraphina’s dumbfounded expression, Morgan assumed she was intimidated by her aura and was finally satisfied. She lazily gestured towards the kitchen, "Go, bring me some tea."

Looking at herself, Seraphina realized she was still wearing a maid’s uniform. Earlier, she had asked the maids for an apron while making a fruit salad in the kitchen to avoid soiling her clothes. Since none was available, they had loaned her a maid uniform.

Seraphina realized that this woman had mistaken her for one of the household maids.

"Excuse me, ma’am, you seem to have misunderstood..."

A maid emerged, overheard their conversation, and hurried over, bowing ninety degrees to Morgan, "You’ve arrived, but Mr.—?"

The maid nearly blurted out but quickly recalled Desmond’s instructions and corrected herself, "Sir, he went out, he’s not home right now."

Morgan, still fuming, didn’t notice the slip in the maid’s address.

"Hmph." Morgan scoffed, pointing at Seraphina, "Who hired this maid? Fire her."

"This—" The maid looked troubled, glanced at Seraphina, and explained, "She’s not the maid, she’s the lady of the house."

"What?" Morgan’s expression turned ugly, not expecting the woman to be the homeowner. Desmond never brought women home before?

A bit at a loss, considering Morgan was used to being domineering in the Fairchild Family, with Old Mrs. Fairchild’s coddling, she feared nothing.

But now Cloudsea Group’s leader was Desmond, known for his decisive measures, and although she was his aunt, she couldn’t help but be wary around him.

Aside from Desmond, nothing could ever restrain her nature. With him away, she naturally felt emboldened.

"So what if you’re the lady here? You’re still spending Desmond’s money, right?" Morgan snorted lightly, "Since you’re using Desmond’s money, aren’t you just like a maid of this house, what’s the difference?"

Seraphina chuckled at that.

First, she hadn’t even criticized this stranger for barging into her home, and then she was belittled. Moreover, how did her maids know this woman?!

Seraphina felt her rights were being violated and immediately felt furious, her expression soured.

"Madam, please get the situation straight. I own this house, and I paid for it. As for your relationship with Desmond, it doesn’t concern me. If you have nothing else, please do not stay in my home."

She unceremoniously had her leave, giving Morgan no face, leaving the latter embarrassed.

"You!"

Morgan was infuriated, never before had anyone treated her so rudely.

"I’m Desmond’s aunt, how dare you be so dismissive of me!" She took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions.

Seraphina was surprised, not expecting this woman to be Desmond’s aunt, and while she was thinking, Morgan spoke again.

"Didn’t I tell you to get me some water? Why aren’t you going yet?"

"I’ll get it for you." The maid, head bowed respectfully, was about to head to the kitchen.

"Did I ask you?" Morgan’s sharp voice tinged with anger, her gaze shifted to Seraphina, "You, go get the water!"

It was obvious Desmond cared a lot about Seraphina, and if she really went, there was no telling how Desmond would react. The maid, shivering, was about to dissuade when Seraphina spoke.

"It’s okay, I’ll go." After all, pouring a glass of water, she and Desmond were nominally husband and wife, and the woman in front of her was Desmond’s aunt, so as a junior, serving water to an elder was quite normal.

So she turned towards the kitchen. After Seraphina left, Morgan glared fiercely at the maid for speaking up?

If she hadn’t been frequenting visits to Old Mrs. Fairchild to figure out Desmond’s whereabouts, she wouldn’t have found this place.

Considering she had a favor to ask, she couldn’t be too excessive, otherwise, she’d have already acted out as was her nature.

The maid, knowing Morgan’s disposition, feared she’d deliberately target Seraphina, so she trembled and kept silent.

As Seraphina passed by the maid, she thoughtfully gave her a few more glances. These maids seemed like the ones she’d asked Desmond to arrange, but she always felt something was off.

She returned with water, handed it to Morgan, who was lounging arrogantly on the couch, and when Seraphina saw Morgan reaching out, she assumed it was to take the cup. Unexpectedly, Morgan flicked her wrist, and with a light sweep, there was a crash, and the cup shattered on the ground.
