CHAPTER 117: CHAPTER 117: SEE YOU TONIGHT, MRS. SINCLAIR

Blake Sinclair followed her dazed gaze and looked down.

It seemed he misunderstood something.

He chuckled lightly, suddenly knelt on one knee onto the mattress, leaned over, and wrapped her in his arms, teasing ambiguously, "Just woke up, didn’t you say you were tired yesterday? Could it be that I wasn’t putting in enough effort?"

"But now’s not the time, I have a meeting later, tonight... how about that?"

He spoke with a deliberately exaggerated sigh.

Holly Crowe was pulled back to reality by his words, realizing her gaze had led to a misunderstanding.

She was immediately embarrassed and annoyed, grabbed a pillow next to her and covered her face, mumbling angrily while pushing him, "That’s not what I meant! You... you better leave, or you’ll be late! I have to go out after breakfast too!"

Blake Sinclair’s chest shook with laughter.

Looking at this little ostrich, he ruffled the top of her head, speaking with affection, "Alright, I’m leaving. See you tonight, Mrs. Sinclair."

Only after hearing the door close and ensuring he left, did Holly remove the pillow.

Her heart was still beating wildly.

That dream...

And that voice, so similar...

And the tenderness he occasionally showed that felt so familiar...

But quickly, Holly brushed away the absurd guess from her mind.

The demeanor and personality of that wheelchair brother were completely different from Blake Sinclair; she must still be half-asleep.

.....

When she arrived at the hospital, Holly’s thoughts were still somewhat scattered.

That seemingly real dream lingered at the forefront of her mind, refusing to fade.

Celia Stiles called her name several times before she snapped out of it.

"Senior, senior?" Celia waved her hand in front of her, "Did President Sinclair steal your soul?"

Holly blinked, hiding her distraction by grabbing an orange, lowering her head to peel it.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

She put two slices of orange in her mouth, the sweet and tangy juice bursting on her tongue, sobering her a bit.

"I’m the one who’s injured, but your face looks worse than mine."

Celia bit into an apple, mumbling through a full mouth.

"Oh? Does it?" Holly touched her face with her hand.

She steady herself, looking at Celia’s barely suppressed smile, and retorted teasingly, "You still dare to make fun of me? Who would believe it? Who crosses a zebra crossing and gets clipped by an electric scooter, doesn’t end up with a fracture, but instead finds out they have appendicitis in the hospital? That’s unheard of."

Celia wagged a finger in front of her, "You don’t understand! This is called a blessing in disguise, an early warning! The doctor said it was a good thing we found it in time; another two weeks, and it might have ruptured."

The two chatted and laughed until almost noon, when Holly said goodbye to Celia and prepared to head back.

She fetched a pot of hot water for Celia, placing it by the bed, "So, how about it? I come to pick you up when you’re discharged tomorrow?"

"No, no need."

Celia quickly waved her hands in refusal.

"Senior, don’t you still have to prepare your admission documents tomorrow?" Celia scratched her head, her tone quickening, "I’ll manage, a...a friend is picking me up."

Her eyes flickered, but Holly was too busy packing to notice.

"Alright then, I’m heading back. Call me if you need anything."

"Got it, senior, take care, bye-bye."

Leaving the ward, Holly took the elevator down.

Just as she reached the first floor, the sound of rain was deafening; a sudden downpour had arrived.

Holly’s car was parked in the opposite parking lot of the outpatient department, so she had no choice but to take the corridor inside the in-patient department.

The corridor was empty and silent, with only the sound of the torrential rain outside and her footsteps audible.

She was looking down, texting Blake Sinclair, when she heard a suppressed, intense struggle coming from behind a column ahead.

A familiar female voice, mixed with sobs and anger: "Daniel, let me go! This is my child, what does it have to do with you?"

The man anxiously tried to persuade her, "Mia! The doctor said the baby’s condition is very unstable right now. Having surgery for the repair is risking the baby’s life. I won’t agree to it!"

"What does it have to do with you?"

"Because I’m the baby’s father."

"Then you’re just forcing me to die!" The woman’s voice suddenly grew louder, filled with despair.

Amid their struggle, a suited man stumbled out from behind the column.

Holly had intended to quickly leave, but as luck would have it, the man staggered a few steps and stopped right in front of her.

It was Daniel Alden.

Zion Pence’s assistant.

After steadying himself, he looked up and met Holly’s eyes, his face immediately filled with shock and panic.

And from behind the column, a woman wearing a loose maternity dress and a mask walked out.

It was Mia Chapelle.

Mia followed Daniel’s gaze, and upon seeing Holly, she froze in place.

The hand supporting her belly trembled, her eyes full of shock and guilt.

Looking at this absurd scene before her, Holly glanced at Mia’s belly, and the words she had just overheard floated back to her mind with an absurd guess.

It seemed Zion Pence was not beyond being cuckolded after all.

She frowned, genuinely not intending to eavesdrop on this mess.

Just passing through!

She didn’t want to be the fox guarding the melon patch.

Just wanted to leave quickly.

Just as Holly was about to look away and pretend she hadn’t seen anything, ready to walk away.

Mia, as if suddenly awakening, hurried towards her, clutching her large belly, and grabbed her wrist tightly, with a strength not like that of a pregnant woman.

"You can’t leave! Holly... what did you hear?" Mia’s voice trembled, her mask-clad eyes staring hard at Holly.

Holly looked at her in this pointless show, trying to pull her hand back but wary of using too much force, as Mia was pregnant.

"I didn’t hear anything, let go of me!"

"You’re lying! You definitely heard it!"

Mia didn’t release her grip, instead holding on even tighter, her nails nearly digging into Holly’s flesh.

"You definitely heard it, you can’t leave, you can’t tell Zion Pence!"

Mia was in a panic.

She only knew she couldn’t let Holly leave.

Zion Pence was already very displeased with her because of the online incident before and hadn’t been home for almost half a month.

If he found out the child wasn’t his... she didn’t dare think about it!

Zion Pence would definitely throw her out of the Pence family...

No way!

She couldn’t lose her current life; she was about to become Mrs. Pence!

Mia quickly signaled to Daniel nearby.

There was a hint of struggle in Daniel’s eyes, but seeing Mia in such a panicked state, he gritted his teeth.

He stepped forward, attempting to grab Holly’s other hand, trying to control her.

Noticing their little movements, Holly sneered, "Let me say this again, let go! I’m not interested in your mess, nor am I free enough to gossip with Zion Pence."

Mia stubbornly retorted, "You’re lying! If you don’t plan to tell Zion Pence, why don’t you dare to look at me?"

Holly was speechless.

Girl, wasn’t I just trying to pretend I hadn’t seen you, to minimize a major issue to a minor one and quietly leave?

Why can’t you just act like you didn’t see me, pretend it’s a dream, is that so hard?

Do you have to pull this stunt?

I obviously can’t admit I heard it, I’m not that stupid.

Seeing Daniel about to grab her hand, Holly quickly took out her phone and flashed it in front of them, "I just sent a message to Blake Sinclair, he’ll be at the hospital entrance any moment. If you want to make a scene here, I’m not against calling him over to straighten things out."

Her gaze was chilling, staring at Daniel, "Dare to touch me and see whose hand is quicker, yours or the Sinclair Family who arrives first?"

Daniel didn’t dare move forward, frozen in place.

Holly then looked at Mia, warning her, "If you want to drag me into your scandal, you better think twice about the consequences. I’m not interested in whose kid you’re carrying, and I have no desire to get involved in your sordid affairs, but if you keep pushing this, I won’t let myself get into unnecessary trouble."

Holly’s words instantly extinguished Mia’s rash impulse.

Both of their faces turned pale, devoid of color, and dare not take any further action.

They’ve all experienced Blake Sinclair’s ways.

Mia gradually released Holly’s hand, her eyes full of unwillingness and fear.

Holly took the chance to pull her hand back, rubbing her reddened wrist, without giving them another glance, turned and left, her pace uninterrupted.

It wasn’t until Holly’s figure disappeared entirely down the corridor that Mia felt as though all her strength had left her, nearly collapsing to the ground, only being caught by Daniel.

She leaned against Daniel, sobbing, "The way she looked... she must have figured it all out! She’ll definitely tell Zion Pence... what should I do?"
