CHAPTER 199: CHAPTER 199: DELIBERATE DESTRUCTION OF ANOTHER’S FAMILY

"Hello, Ms. Crowe, I’m Lawyer Felix from Aethelred Law. I just returned from Vesperia half a month ago."

Felix was very formal, handing over a business card with both hands.

Out of the corner of her eye, Holly noticed Blake Sinclair on the diagonally opposite seat, giving her a look that said, "Dare you take it and see what happens."

Her hand clenched into a fist under the table.

Fortunately, Felix wasn’t bothered by these subtleties. When he saw Holly didn’t reach out, he naturally placed the business card on the table and gently pushed it towards her.

"Could you tell me about your current situation?"

"Huh?"

Holly was taken aback by his straightforwardness.

Felix explained, "Even though Auntie Lennon already gave me a brief on your situation over the phone, I would still like to hear your perspective in person. This is very important for our future proceedings."

Future...proceedings?

A chill shot through Holly’s heart. It was over!

Director Lennon was determined about this,

She grabbed the glass in front of her and chugged half of it.

She drank too quickly and choked.

"Cough! Cough cough..."

Seeing this, Felix quickly handed her a tissue, "Are you alright, Ms. Crowe?"

"No... I’m fine, thank you." Holly took the tissue, wiped her tear-filled eyes, and thanked him softly.

Meanwhile, opposite her, when Blake Sinclair saw Holly accept a tissue from a stranger, his eyes almost erupted in flames!

The knuckles of the hand holding the glass turned slightly white from the pressure.

Holly knew she couldn’t let this misunderstanding continue any longer.

She had to cut the knot quickly!

She deliberately raised her voice a bit to ensure a certain someone could hear: "Mr. Fuller, I’m really sorry, but I think you might not be fully aware of my situation. I’m not divorced; I’m still married."

As she said this, she could feel the intense glare from across the table soften a bit.

Felix, hearing this, wasn’t surprised, instead, he nodded understandingly.

"I know. Auntie Lennon mentioned this, and that’s perfectly normal, I can understand."

".....???"

Holly was completely stunned.

He knows?

And he understands?

Is he really that accepting?

Are the people from Vesperia this open-minded?

"Don’t you think this is absurd and ridiculous?"

Holly asked incredulously, gesturing at the environment around them.

"The two of us, me, a married woman, talking with you about future developments in such an obviously romantic restaurant, does that make sense?"

Felix looked around the restaurant calmly in the direction she pointed, nodding: "Indeed, such a location for a meeting is rather unusual. It’s my first time meeting in such a setting. However, I choose to understand and respect it."

Holly: "..."

She was completely at a loss for words.

He can understand even this?

Felix, seemingly unaware of Holly’s devastated expression, bowed his head and began searching for something in his briefcase.

"I also prepared something relevant for this meeting, Ms. Crowe, you can take a look first."

Diagonally across, having listened to the whole exchange, Blake Sinclair could no longer bear it.

Stealing his woman right under his nose?

Talking about future developments?

Preparations even?

He stood up directly and walked over to Holly’s table, sitting next to her.

Felix looked at this suddenly appearing, powerful man, puzzled: "And you are?"

Blake Sinclair clasped Holly’s hand, intertwining their fingers, then raised them, "I’m Holly Crowe’s husband, Blake Sinclair."

He thought this clear declaration of identity would make the other back off.

However, Felix was only briefly surprised before quickly regaining his composure.

He nodded slightly, politely greeting, "Hello, Mr. Sinclair."

His gaze lingered on Blake and Holly’s tightly clasped hands for a few seconds, "It seems your relationship is better than I imagined."

Having just returned from Vesperia, busy with relocating the law office and adapting to the local environment, Felix didn’t pay much attention to the local business circle and online gossip, so he wasn’t familiar with Blake Sinclair and Holly Crowe.

"Naturally, our relationship is good." Blake Sinclair almost gritted these words out.

Yet Felix remained as nonchalant as ever.

This guy, doesn’t he understand people?

A lawyer who’s this oblivious?

Blake Sinclair squinted, sneering: "Mr. Fuller, you’re a lawyer? Great. I’d like to ask, is deliberately sabotaging someone else’s family a behavior that can be reported to the police?"

Felix: "Mr. Sinclair, there are no clear legal provisions regarding that. However, such behavior, as you mentioned, is indeed frowned upon morally."

"So you know it’s immoral, Lawyer Fuller?" Blake Sinclair sneered coldly.

Seeing this, Holly felt utterly awkward and hurriedly tried to mediate, "Lawyer Fuller, I’m sorry, this might be a misunderstanding."

"I understand now."

Felix raised his hand, interrupting Holly, a look of realization on his face, "It seems like the situation between you two is somewhat different from the information I previously received."

As he said this, he pulled out a document and placed it on the table, gently pushing it towards Holly.

The cover of the document read ’Divorce Agreement.’

"Since you two are in a harmonious relationship and have no intention of separating, the matter of divorce and this agreement certainly requires reconsideration." Felix calmly declared.

"Huh? A divorce agreement?"

Holly looked at the document, her mind momentarily unable to process.

Yet, Blake Sinclair realized the moment he saw the document title.

"You’re a divorce lawyer?"

"Yes. I specialize in family and marriage cases, especially divorce cases."

Felix admitted openly, "My spouse’s aunt is classmates with Ms. Crowe’s mother at the Senior University. Auntie Lennon heard I returned to the country and am adept at handling such cases, so she asked me to meet with Ms. Crowe to understand the situation in detail and see if I could help."

After hearing this convoluted web of connections, Holly’s mind finally started to piece together the cause and effect.

Another mix-up!

"So Lawyer Fuller, you weren’t here for a blind date?" Holly’s voice grew smaller and smaller with embarrassment.

"A blind date?"

Felix was momentarily stunned, then recalled the reactions of the two across earlier, finally understanding the reason.

"I’m sorry, Ms. Crowe, it seems my way of appearing and this setting led you to misunderstand. I’m not here for a blind date, I’m here to help you with the divorce case."

He gestured at the roses placed at the corner of the table, "As for the flowers, they were thrust into my hands by a young elementary school student promoting courage entrepreneurship at the elevator entrance. I didn’t have the convenience to refuse, so I brought them over. Sorry for the misunderstanding."

The truth was revealed!

Holly wished she could find a hole to hide in, hurriedly waving her hands, "No, no, I’m the one who should apologize, Lawyer Fuller. I thought my mom set me up again. I’m so sorry for this mix-up and wasting your time."

With the misunderstanding cleared, Felix bid them a polite farewell.

Holly and Blake Sinclair also left the restaurant shortly after.

In the underground parking lot of the mall, Holly was still immersed in the earlier embarrassment.

Blake Sinclair sat in the driver’s seat, didn’t start the car, but turned to look at Holly, "Holly."

"Yeah?"

"Earlier, you said ’set me up again’? Why use ’again’?"

"Huh?"
