Chapter 208 - 207: An Amusing Spectacle
CHAPTER 208: CHAPTER 207: AN AMUSING SPECTACLE
Rex stepped out into the hallway, the soft click of his shoes against the marble floor echoing faintly. He glanced down at his polished shoes and adjusted his cufflinks, feeling slightly self-conscious despite how effortlessly sharp he looked. With a calm breath, he walked toward the hotel entrance, where the Regalia Ravelle stood parked like a silent beast waiting to be unleashed.
Of course, stunned look along the way were indispensable, but he didn’t have time to take care of that, he was running late. It was already 8:20 and he had to reach party venue as soon as possible.
Kaelan and Victor were already waiting beside the car, with Kaelan standing near the driver’s side door, arms crossed, exuding calm readiness. Victor leaned casually against the hood, checking his phone now and then. They’d been there for a bit, figuring it was about the time Rex would be done and ready to leave.
As Rex approached, both men stared.
Victor let out a low whistle. "Boss... is that really you?"
Kaelan didn’t speak but his brows shot up.
Rex shrugged, trying to act cool. "Guess the magic hands of professionals are good for more than just horror scenes."
Victor circled around him once. "This isn’t makeover. This is evolution. You went from handsome to dangerously handsome."
Kaelan nodded slowly, still stunned. "We might need to install bulletproof glass. Not for enemies. For fangirls."
Rex chuckled and opened the back door. "Drive, chauffeur. We’ve got places to be."
"Yes, your royal hotness," Kaelan said with mock formality, but with his signature serious expression, saluting before slipping behind the wheel.
As Rex slid into the back seat, the plush interior of the Regalia Ravelle welcomed him like it had been waiting all its life for someone worthy. The deep red and obsidian black leather gleamed under the ambient lighting, and the soft purr of the engine whispered wealth.
Victor twisted around from the front seat. "So what’s the plan now?
Rex smirked, leaning back into the plush leather. "Obviously, we head straight to the party."
As they pulled out of the hotel driveway and onto the glowing streets of Beverly Hills, the car turned heads instantly. Even without Rex, the Regalia Ravelle was an attention magnet. Phones came up, people paused mid-conversation, and murmurs followed them like whispers in the wind.
But it didn’t last long as they soon neared the party venue—a breathtaking, palatial mansion perched at the highest point of Beverly Hills. It stood like a crown on the hillside, glittering under strategically placed warm lights that bathed its pristine white façade in a golden glow. Towering gates guarded the entrance, manned by uniformed staff with earpieces and tablets in hand, checking names against an exclusive guest list.
The road leading up to it was a winding ribbon of cobblestone, flanked by meticulously trimmed hedges and trees adorned with fairy lights. Expensive cars lined the driveway—Ferano, Lambrave, Brayleigh—even among them, the Regalia Ravelle stood out like a king among nobles.
Just as Rex was admiring the lineup of luxury cars and the grandeur of the mansion ahead, something peculiar caught his eye. A girl—or rather, a young woman who barely looked out of her teens—was behaving suspiciously near the security checkpoint. Her eyes darted left and right like a thief casing a jewelry store, her body tense with anticipation.
"Kaelan, slow down," Rex murmured, lowering the window slightly.
From his vantage point, he had a clearer view. The girl was clearly trying to sneak in. She made a move to blend with a group entering the venue, walking with exaggerated confidence like she belonged there. But the two guards posted—black-suited, buff, and clearly not just decorative pieces—spotted her immediately and stepped in to stop her.
Rex raised an eyebrow as he watched her retreat with exaggerated frustration. But she didn’t give up. She pulled off her ponytail, shook her hair loose like a scene straight out of a spy movie, and waited a few beats. Then she spotted another group and attempted to slip in again, pretending like she knew someone among them.
Her acting was actually pretty good, Rex had to admit. If he wasn’t watching closely, he might’ve believed it. But the guards? They were seasoned. Clearly, this wasn’t their first encounter with her—or with others like her. They intercepted her again, this time more firmly
"She’s got guts, I’ll give her that," Victor said, pushing his sunglasses up. "She’s not giving up easy."
Rex leaned slightly toward the window. "Either she really wants to be at this party... or she’s got some hidden agenda."
He chuckled under his breath, watching as the girl tried to argue her way past security again. Rex couldn’t help but be entertained—and maybe a little intrigued.
As the girl was being lightly escorted away by the guards, Rex shook his head, amused. Just as he stepped out of the car and straightened his suit and was about to head toward the entrance, from the corner of his eye he noticed her again.
Only this time, instead of sneaking around security, she was walking straight toward him, purposeful yet hesitant, like she had made a split-second decision and wasn’t entirely sure if she’d regret it.
He paused, curious, and turned to get a proper look. And well—he had to admit—she really was beautiful. Her soft, medium brown hair fell naturally in loose waves now that it was out of the ponytail. Her skin had a fresh, almost youthful glow, like she was no older than nineteen or twenty. Big, expressive eyes scanned the area as if calculating her next move, and her slender figure moved with a strange mix of confidence and awkwardness. Her features were delicate but lively, like a painting that decided to step into the real world and cause chaos.
She approached him cautiously, her steps slow and unsure, clearly deliberating whether or not to speak. When her eyes finally landed on Rex, she froze. Her already large eyes widened even further, and her mouth parted slightly as if words had failed her.
Rex raised an eyebrow and waved a hand in front of her face. "Uh, hello?"
That broke the spell. The girl blinked rapidly and stumbled over her words, a blush exploding across her cheeks, neck, and even the tips of her ears. "I—I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to stare. I’m Lena." She fidgeted with the hem of her sleeve, her gaze darting to the ground before quickly flickering back to him. "Um... were you going in?" she asked, motioning vaguely toward the mansion.
Rex let out a low chuckle, amused by her flustered state. "Of course. It’s not like I dressed up in a suit and boots to go hiking."
Lena’s face somehow turned redder, her expression twisting into one of pure mortification. Her fingers clenched tighter around the strap of her small purse, and she seemed ready to melt into the pavement. Her eyes darted away, then back to Rex, and for a second she looked like she was going to run for it. Instead, she forced a tight-lipped smile and stood awkwardly, toes pointing inward as she shifted from foot to foot.
Internally, she was already scolding herself. ’ "God, what am I even saying? Get a grip, Lena! Stop acting like some desperate nympho! Pull yourself together, you’ve handled worse situations—don’t turn into a puddle just because some ridiculously handsome guy looked at you.’
