CHAPTER 308: 305. IMMORTAL FOX SPIRIT

Back at the camp in Saint Petersburg, Dexter was outside along with a couple of key figures.

Dian was looking with a bored expression while Collins floated above the ground. There was also dragon prince Quan who stood nearby. For some reason he seemed nervous.

What was everyone watching, and why were they all silent?

In the middle of the group of people were two figures, Hannah—having a confident posture on her, with her crop jacket having the golden sun logo of the sun walkers. Her flexible pants hugged her graceful figure nicely, and the sun gave her ebony skin a slight glow.

On the other side was Kami, the leader of the Kaminari fox clan. Her white kimono was still eye catching and she seemed less bothered by the fact that she was facing a witch.

"Don’t go easy on me now?" Kami teased.

Hannah couldn’t help but put in a devilish smile, her strange gold eyes had a murderous glint in them.

"I’m not planning to."

*BLAZEE!*

A torrent of flames erupted on the spot where Hannah stood, enveloping her completely.

Kami frowned looking at the girl in surprise, her mouth hanging open.

"Just what type of creature have you made? You bastard!" She cursed, looking at Dian.

The stoic general only shrugged, making her nod.

’Whatever, she’s still a kid—’ Kami’s eyes flew open as she saw a large ball of flame coming towards her.

Gasps filled the crowd as they saw Kami enveloped by the bright flames.

Hannah stood straight, six dragon wings spread out behind her. Her skin was bright purple and as if she wasn’t already beautiful enough, she looked like a demonic temptess now.

The flames the covered Kami dispersed and her eyes glowed a bright blue.

Two long fluffy fox ears were over her head, a beautiful set of nine white tails were laid out behind her. She shook her head, looking at Hannah.

"Let’s do this shall we." Hannah said, flying j to the sky with a flap of her wings.

Kami was speechless, the girl she was facing seemed like a completely different person from the one who she met before.

’She oozes of demonic aura.’ She thought, glancing around.

’Is this normal?’

The expressions of the people were quite neutral. Some of them had eyes filled with something skin to reverence.

"Well then, let me show you the difference between us." Kami smiled, raising a hand.

A large formation made of shapes and symbols appeared over the skies. The array of symbols and shapes covered the skies completely, making the world dye blue.

Chains shot downwards, meeting Hannah midway in her fight. Hannah clashed with the chains with her claws. The one she missed was deflected by the spirit guard.

’She still has that totem?’ Dexter smiled, watching Hannah fly up with great speed.

The golden shield was as stellar as ever, defending her. Despite it being a heavenly totem of the lower class it still held despite the fury of attacks.

Hannah’s body blurred through the skies, if Dexter was to compare her speed to before, she was comparable to fifth or even fourth class. She vanished, reappearing behind Kami with a swipe of her claws. The strike ripped through the air, sparks igniting from the sheer heat.

"I thought you were a mage?"

Kami pivoted gracefully, nine tails swishing with elegance and menace. Her hands drew a circle in the air, creating a circle mid air with spirit energy. A bright blue flame bloomed from the circle, firing towards Hannah.

Hannah deployed a magic shield and detonated into a shockwave that shook the camp.

The onlookers braced themselves against the backlash. Collins had to throw up an invisible gravity barrier to keep the younger soldiers from being burned alive.

"Monsters..." the Quan muttered under his breath, his scaled hand tightening on his sword hilt.

Since he got personally connected to Dexter, more and more strange things happened.

The guy that he almost destroyed in heaven’s tower for being arrogant, turned out to be one of Earth’s strongest warriors.

The fight between Hannah and Tracy riled him up also, catching Bai’s eyes.

"Calm yourself, we can go at it later." The bald monk said, still keeping his eyes on the fight.

He floated gracefully on his white cloud, looking down.

Hannah landed, her talons carving furrows into the stone ground. "You’re fast," she admitted, lips curling into a smile too predatory to be human.

"You’re reckless," Kami replied, her ears twitching as her tails spread wide like a peacock’s feathers. "That power will consume you if you don’t know restraint."

"..."

"What?" Kami asked Hannah who looked confused at her statement.

"The fuck are you on about. Also, you would like to look behind you." Hannah smirked.

Kami instantly senses a large burst of spirit energy behind her and she created a shield around herself. Instantly, a blue transparent barrier erupted around her.

Countless ice shards fell from the sky, clashing into the barrier.

With a flap of her wings, Hannah ascended higher, flames coiling around her like serpents. They burst forward as a storm of fiery meteors, each one hot enough to melt steel.

Kami raised both arms. The blue array in the heavens shimmered brighter, pulling chains of spirit fire down. Each meteor was caught, bound, and crushed by the glowing chains. The sky became a battlefield of fire and spirit, of destruction and restraint.

The clash shook the foundations of the camp. Soldiers dropped to their knees from the sheer weight of the two auras pressing down on them.

Kami exhaled sharply. "Enough playing."

One of her tails flicked, releasing a shimmering light into the air—a slate carved with countless runes, glowing faintly silver.

"I would’ve never used this ability, but I just have to let you know the difference between us!"

The world shifted instantly.

The foxes that were watching by the sides instantly scurried offz hiding inside the buildings.

All sound vanished, drowned. The flames lost their color. The sky turned to shades of gray. The world instantly turned into a shade of black and white, all sound and abilities were muted.

Even the soldiers gasped without sound, clutching their ears in horror.

Hannah froze mid-air, her flames flickering weakly in this muted void. Her wings beat, but no thunder followed.

’What is this...?’ she thought, panic creeping in.

Kami walked forward across the battlefield as if stepping on water, tails trailing like banners of pale fire. Her lips curved in triumph.

"Are you perhaps angry that I might go after... HIM?" Kami whispered in Hannah’s ear, looking at Dexter who wore a frown on his face.

Seeing Hannah’s frown, Kami nodded.

For a moment, it seemed Hannah would be devoured by the suffocating silence.

Then—

CRACK.

The oppressive world shattered like glass. Sound returned in a roaring wave—the howls of wind, the crackle of flames, the gasps of soldiers. Colors burst back into the world, vivid and alive.

At the edge of the camp, a figure had appeared. A young man with dark blue hair and cyan eyes walked silently into the camp.

Jude.

"What is this power?" Kami frowned, instantly appearing at the camp’s entrance.

Hannah let out a ragged breath, her wings folding as she descended to the ground. Her flames extinguished reluctantly.

Dexter crossed his arms. "Finally. Took you long enough."

But that was when Dexter noticed that Jude was face to face with Kami.

Dian’s expression didn’t change, though his fingers tightened around his spear. Rameses and Tracy exchanged knowing glances, Quan only descended with Bai and Natasha.

"How did it go?" Dexter asked, looking at Jude.

Jude looked away from Kami and walked passed her.

"Seems like this place is not so boring." Kami smirkedz walking towards the gathering humans.

Jude proceeded to tell them how he gathered the army of Atlantis to hold off the creature, the rest would be up to them.

"We’ll have to lure them out of the water at least." Dexter said, looking at Kami.

"I’ll handle it." Jude said.

They all concluded their plans in that moment, and then Rameses walked away to brief the humans.

"Kami, do you remember what I asked?" Dexter walked towards her, looking at her in the eyes. "We’ll need your help with this."

Kami tilted her head, a faint smirk playing at her lips. "And what makes you so sure you can order me around?"

Dexter’s voice cut through like a knife. "You owe me."

Kami’s gaze snapped toward him, his mocking smile getting to her.

"You remember, don’t you? When your son was taken. Who was it that saved him?" Dexter pressed, his eyes glinting.

Her jaw clenched, but she didn’t deny it.

"You should be grateful," Dexter finished.

Her tails lashed angrily, flames flickering dangerously around her. "Grateful? Don’t mistake me for one of your soldiers. I don’t take commands."

In a blur of motion, Kami lunged toward Jude, her claws poised to strike.

But before she could even blink, she was on the ground.

Dexter hadn’t moved more than a step. One hand pressed her shoulder into the dirt, holding her effortlessly. His gaze remained calm, almost disinterested.

The camp went utterly silent.

Kami’s eyes widened in disbelief. Her heart thundered as she looked up at him, dazed.

’How did he overpower me so easily?’ she gritted her teeth.

She felt a flush of heat flow into her cheeks before she quickly turned her face away. She was blushing?

Dexter released her and stood tall again, his voice steady. "Will you help us, or not?"

For a moment, Kami was silent. Then, grudgingly, she nodded. "I will."

Her thoughts, however, betrayed her composure. ’Idefinitely want him.’

But when she glanced up again, she felt a murderous gaze on her. She turned around to see Dian glaring at her with his dragon eyes, as if warning her.

She sighed, forcing herself to look away. "Tch. This is going to be troublesome."
