The insect landed on the ground, looking up to see the dragon king. It stood like a person, with four clawed arms and clawed feet.

Its skin was a dark carapace that absorbed the light surrounding them. Gazan landed on the ground, looking at the creature with a calm expression.

The creature didn't do anything, staring at him first. Gazan blinked, not knowing what was going on.

"I thought creatures are always hungry for flesh," he mumbled, frowning. "Well, if you're not looking to eat me, then you should recognize a threat when you see one!"

Gazan lunged forth with his sword, which was now back to normal. The black insect, that now resembled a cockroach, spread out six wings from its back, resembling the ones Gazan had.

The dragon king was already close to it when a black aura surged out of its body.

Black shadowy hands rose out of the ground like omens of death, reaching for the dragon king.

Gazan flew upwards in that moment, dodging all of the hands. His sword turned into a hurricane of blades as he turned it into a whip, slashing everything around him.

"Aha, so that's why you were standing still. You created a realm for me?" Gazan mumbled, and then he looked at his sword.

'They were hard to cut... Those... shadows.'

It had been quite a long time since he had met a creature that would make him bring out his own weapon.

He was only using it because the creatures he was going to face today were going to be his rank. But he encountered a small resistance when cutting the shadows.

Resistance is resistance.

"A dragon fights fair, with honor. But you know nothing about honor." Gazan flapped his wings, flying higher into the air.

"I won't hold back anymore. I'll finish you at once!" A pillar of flames rose up from the ground, enveloping the dragon king and surrounding him.

The light seemed to not chase the rogue shadows away, and the creature stood cackling softly at the situation.

Boom!

The fires burst outwards, revealing a large dragon in the middle.

The dragon was over twenty meters tall, having beautiful golden scales and wings to match.

The king had beautiful green eyes that held one target in them. The four horns on his head curled backwards, having a beautiful shade of obsidian.

The dragon roared, making a torrent of fire surround its body, lighting it in flames.

Crieeeeee!!!!

With a loud shriek, the cockroach jumped up into the air, and all the shadows moved up, surrounding its own body.

In a moment, a dragon identical to Gazan appeared in the field. The darkness that covered the area because of the darker skies made it seem even darker than usual.

Gazan looked over to where a cloud of bats flew in the battlefield, and then he looked up.

'There's only one person I know who can manipulate the weather. Is that kid like that crazy vampire?' Gazan thought, spreading his six wings.

Only the vampire king had been able to manifest these abilities as a vampire, but it wasn't out of question for a new vampire to be able to use this ability too.

The golden dragon opened its maw, revealing a bright light.

A stream of flames blasted out of its mouth with a roar. The flames shot downwards, almost like liquid.

A wall of shadows rose around the shadow dragon, blocking out the flames.

"Get out of the way!" Kila shouted as she noticed the flames coming down.

Lily turned into a blur as she ran away from there. People that went further to fight the fourth class were all powerful figures, so they were able to escape.

Henry had already retreated to the back, where the weaker people were, to protect them in case a titan was to slip past the main attacking force.

As they retreated past him, he raised his hand, forming an invisible barrier covering all of them.

His gaze was cold and focused.

"You've really grown stronger, boy."

Henry looked to the side to see Alexander there.

"Why talk about that now?" Henry gnashed his teeth, trying to focus.

"Why not? When we first started, you couldn't even control your contracted spirit. Now you can create a barrier to cover a battlefield." Alexander nodded his head with a smile.

He hadn't been there for the young man when he needed him, a father. Instead, he was obsessed with killing the people that caused the accident which took away his wife.

'I don't regret it. But it must have been sad for him after I left.' The old man put a hand on Henry's shoulder.

The heat of the flame distorted the air around the barrier. Even if the flames collided with the shadow dragon, the heat was already melting the ice around them rapidly.

The golden dragon finally calmed its flames, closing its maw.

The dragon's eyes widened as it saw a crumbling wall of shadows, revealing a black dragon that oozed with a dark aura.

Gazan frowned. He knew now not to underestimate the domain of the creature before him. Get full chapters from novelfire(.)net

In a flash, the creature flapped its wings, flying towards him. The golden dragon wasn't able to retaliate when a paw struck it in the chin, sending it flying backwards.

The black dragon didn't stop there, elongating its claws even further.

Gazan regained his balance, turning around with a frown. He closed his wings as he noticed an unnaturally long claw reaching for him.

The two dragons were over twenty meters long, moving like a hurricane as both of them were a blur.

Gazan attacked with equal ferocity, striking the black dragon with his tail, claw, wings, teeth—anything.

The black dragon was also changing the more they fought. It grew scales on its wings, adapting to Gazan's.

It was like the more they fought, the more it resembled a real dragon.

But there was going to be an obvious difference in the two of them. Gazan had been a dragon for hundreds of years; he wouldn't likely lose to a newborn dragon that had the ferocity of an insect.

He wouldn't lose to an insect overall.
