CHAPTER 319: I CAN LIE, SAY I LIKE IT LIKE THAT [1]
[GREALOR]
"Are we really considering this absurd request? It doesn’t make any sense. If Gabriel doesn’t want to come along, let him be," Zakhar said as he looked at Ciel.
There were lines in friendship that shouldn’t have been crossed and Zakhar’s intervention was their chance to see to it that none was crossed with Gabriel Grealor. The man had been kind to them and loyal despite everything they were all going through.
The fact that Ciel thought this was the right way out of this was just insane because no amount of conceiving would ever make it any better.
They had to be rational despite the challenges they were facing at the moment, no one was coming to save them and if they broke the one link that they had to the Grealors, then they would be fucked.
Was that why they were doing this thought, or was this just the perfect excuse for a bunch of cruel wolves who didn’t know where the stop sign was?
"You people are crazy," Zakhar insisted.
"We are not involving Gabriel. The kid is explosive without having to be introduced to the plans against the man he is still in love with clearly," Zula said and that was also how Zakhar knew they were in for the longest and highest tide.
It was bad enough that they had agreed to go along with the plan. But without the one person brave enough to bring down the intensity of the alpha and his sidekick, they would be doomed.
They had to decide and right now, whatever it was, there had to be a way out.
"I am not going in then. You do what you have to do. If Gabe is not coming, I am not. Excuse me," Zakhar said, surprising everyone he had always been the one the most excited to come along, and now he was the first one to drop out voluntarily.
This right here was not as smart as Ciel had expected.
"Really now? You can’t be serious," Ciel said.
Zakhar scoffed.
"Gabe is my best friend. The only one left since I lost the other because of the choices that this alpha made. I am not ready to lose myself or another best friend after all the chaos because of this same alpha. If you want to continue with them, you do it.
"I won’t stop you. But I am not going anywhere if Gabriel is not going," Zakhar began before continuing;
"Did you ever stop to ask yourself why they relaxed so much after learning that Gabe was against it? Did you try to think of what could be waiting for us on the other side of the battle?
"Why do you think they locked Gabe up, when they knew... hell, the entire realm already knows that the Lycan prince completed his rut with his mate. That is enough to keep Gabriel away from Tamiko for the rest of our lives.
"So why did they insist on chaining him up and leaving him out? What is it that Gabe knows that they didn’t want us to know? Anyway, like I said, this is your choice. You have the right over your lives.
"I am not staying. And if you try to stop me, remember that now that the real alpha of Grealor is indisposed, I am in charge," Zakhar said, adding the last warning to Zulu and alpha Ashton who were not pleased with the outcome of things.
Everything had been going on so well until Gabe just decided that he wouldn’t be joining their shitshow. This was not cool and they had to figure out a way around this because otherwise they were doomed.
No one would come for them and they had to set their plans in motion. It didn’t matter that life was rapidly changing or that there was nothing that would be left after all of this.
Perhaps that was why the alpha stared at Ciel and Maki, watching them and seeking to know what the fuck was happening with h remaining two.
"I’ll go after Zakhar," Maki excused herself. She couldn’t bring herself to betray her mate and if she went and died in the process, Zakhar would be the one left to grieve and that was not fair. They had to do it together or they wouldn’t do it at all. It was that simple.
"You leaving too?" Alpha Ashton asked Ciel who had just sat casually like he didn’t care about what his friends had decided for themselves.
Maybe he was the most insane of them for agreeing to this, but even if he didn’t agree to it, what the fuck was here for him? He was just a lonely wolf who had never once healed.
He was a broken wolf who had already lost everything and frankly, Ciel couldn’t go back to living that life anymore. He needed a distraction and this outrageous plan was it for him.
"I am left with nothing, it is not surprising. Alpha. I live for Sadako’s head. If you can give me that, then I am all in. And if I can’t get the Lycan Lord’s head I hope I get to do the kind of damage that will take them hundreds of thousands of yards to fix;
"... just like my heart will never be fixed because of that mad Lord," Ciel said softly as if he had already tried to kill Lord Sadako over and over in his head. He was not going to stop even if he knew that the duo before him had other things they were interested in.
At the moment, reliving half of that pain and feeling his rage was the only thing that Ciel wanted. He didn’t know how to live a life that didn’t have Judd in it and he was always hurting.
"This is not going to be easy, Ciel. Without your friends to help, you will be alone. And sometimes you might go crazy. Are you sure you want to get into this?" Alpha Ashton asked.
Ciel scoffed.
The man who was known for ruining lives was suddenly acting like all of this would not eventually pay off for them, and it was disgusting, to say the least. They all had their reasons for whatever the fuck had happened and was happening.
But they also needed to understand that no matter what happened, here and beyond, they would still have a war to brace for. The Kawai Lycans were coming for them. They could either wait to be stomped or watched as they struggled to fight back for once.
"Don’t come at me with speeches, alpha. I know what I want. And what I am getting into. But before that, I have a condition," Ceil said.
Zula stared at the wolf keenly.
She had seen him a ruined person and she had studied Ciel and could tell that he truly had nothing left to lose. That made Ciel the worst bomb they had and at the same time, the perfect weapon, given he was a powerful warrior and strong one.
He had the skills needed and all they had to do was ask him and he would get into the tracks if that’s what they desired.
"What is it?" Zula spoke.
"You let Gabe be. No improvement, no mind games, no nothing. That man has had to endure the kind of hair that none of you ever will..."
