CHAPTER 331: YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR THE HEAD

[KAWAI]

It was an open dare that would ruin Sanji, and he knew it but had to do this. So, when he leaped in to fight Kosta, he was hoping that perhaps the moon would smile down on him.

That maybe he hadn’t always been a dick for the rest of his life and that nothing would ever matter if he lost. It was a desperate witch, even as he let himself be bested by the kuna chief. But Kosta wasn’t just an opponent.

He was the worst opponent.

The hits Kosta was handing Sanji were deliberate enough to piss off Sanji Lycan. It was something that should have scared the apparent servant himself but he tried so much to hold onto his humanity.

"How pathetic, you look like you are the worst investment that the Kawaii crown ever made. Your Lycan can’t fight. You can’t protect your home.

"Lycans are supposed to belong in Kawai and yours seems so comfortable with leaving home and going to White around. What a pity," Kosta haunted as he threw punches at the expecting Lycan traitor before him.

He could see the internal fight in Sanji’s eyes and Kosta knew that he was so close to winning. This was the moment when everyone knew that Sanji was the traitor and the moment that life was going to be easier for them.

"I know who I am. I won’t let you dictate me just because you want to win," Sanji growled in dissatisfaction. He hated this but he had to hold on. He had to try and make sure that the Lycan chief, regardless of the questions that would be left out there relating to him.

"Am I though?" Kosta laughed and Sanji snickered.

"You love war, barbarian. You love the stench of war and you reign in it. I am not the one you’re supposed to be fighting. I am a Lycan of Kawai, not an enemy of the very homeland I love more than even myself.

"If this is your wish to ruin me then so be it, I—" Sanji began before he saw the one person he was sure would save him for Konstantin. Maybe it was a good idea or maybe it was the worst of ideas ever.

This was more than Sanji had thought but perhaps just salvation was the only thing that he could deal with right now.

"Please save me, my prince. Please," Sanji pleaded as he looked at the young prince who only had eyes for Kosta. Even this far away from the palace, they were on the same page.

It was interesting how much life had built up for them and how shit had gotten but hey, Sanji had to hope that he would be able to get out of this. He had to wait and see what the fuck would happen while hoping that his prince would save him.

"Kosta..." Tamiko said as he looked at his Erasthai who was now covered in Sanji’s blood. For a moment, everyone assumed that Tamiko would truly save Sanjiro but when the prince showed up.

Maybe it was the fiesta good act the man would do because Kosta was bound to win against Sanjiro. He would best him whether this was a fake duel or a real one that demanded they get on with it to the very end.

It wasn’t something that anyone could even think of questioning and yet as they stood there, as Sanji looked at the prince who was focused on the Lycan chief. There were even more questions on what the fuck was going on.

Perhaps it was the kind that no one had quite understood yet and thus the burden of a life that wouldn’t mean so much to people who understood very little of the traitor that they hadn’t been made known to yet.

"I didn’t think you would come to this side, dusha," Kosta smiled, his bloodied self not even a bother to him. He was a beast by nature, a monster who took pride in doing so much for the people of Kawai.

He was a pillar of strength for the kingdom that had been shattered one too many times, which wasn’t even surprising anymore. This right here was a reality that the mates had been forced into.

And perhaps it was a good thing that they found reason in the mess that was.

"Am I interrupting something? Please... by all means, continue," Tamiko said and there were gasps from the crowd. The crown prince may not have understood yet what he had just let continue, but they knew.

This was not normal and anyone could see the silent rage in the eyes of the smiley young prince. The fact that Tamiko stood there, his face so neutral and un-telling of the side he was on was confusing as fuck.

This was madness and they all had to have known it too. It couldn’t be the life they had waited for themselves, right? What if they are wrong?

"Sanji, you heard my baby. Let’s finish this the right way," Kosta said, this time, his motivation so evident. He wasn’t going to relent. He wasn’t going to try and pause. He was going to fight all in like he was fighting an enemy.

And so, he did.

He fought the man who was still trying to act like he was a coward. He fought the am who let him hand the beatings like this was the new arch of their lives. He fought and fought against Sanjiro for the sake of Tamiko.

And by the seventeenth hit that Igor landed on the apparent servant of the realm, the man broke. He quite literally broke as the facade he had put on for a very long time came off, pushing the Kawai warriors into wondering what the fuck had just happened.

"Enough!! You want a fight? A proper fight? Then I will fight that pesky little thing you have for an Erasthai, Konstantin. I will not fight you. If you want this to and well, let it end the right way.

"After all, you brought me to this side of the kingdom because you knew I would probably set myself up, huh? How about you give me a worthy opponent? The subject of all this chaos?

"If the little pet project of yours had not run away from Grealor like some piece of shit hiding under your pants, he wouldn’t have been here. Everything would have to be alright. Everything we did to get to this point wouldn’t have happened and hence the kingdom would have been in better hands.

"You more than anyone know and understand that, even if you choose to be stupid and stay loyal to the family that has given Lycans nothing but pain and endless pain!" Sanji growled out loud and the warriors of Kawai armed themselves.

They were no longer looking at Sanji as the servant who had been sworn to serve the Kawai palace. They were no longer staring at the man like he was just a harmless servant they enjoyed playing with, no.

This time, they were warriors on the battlefield and their leaders were here. This time, they had a target and it was the man who was looking at them so spitefully right now. This man had questions to answer, and he would.

"Seize him!!" Akila growled.
