CHAPTER 239: NI YAN!

Two hours ago, Beast King Sect, Disciple’s gathering hall,

One of the peak masters standing on the stage just finished his announcement as he swept his gaze through the gathering of the disciples below: "You all can leave!" He said before taking flight.

The reason behind this gathering was to announce the Conqueror’s Battlefield’s rules and time of occurrence, along with the appearance of the inheritor of the Beast Sovereign’s inheritance.

The peak master relayed the important information to the disciples just to allow them the free will to offer their services to the prince or princess of their choice, if they desired to participate and seek benefits from such a historical event.

Moreover, the announcement regarding the Beast Sovereign’s successor took precedence over other matters. The disciples of the Beast King Sect were the top fighting force of the tribe. The sect couldn’t hide such an important matter from them.

This also made it clear as to why the Prince and Princess were visiting the sect together on the same day.

"Huan Tian... Huan Tian... Why does this name sounds familiar?" A female disciple mumbled under her breath.

This female disciple, named Ni Yan, was from the same village as Huan Tian, joining the Beast King Sect 15 years ago. Her short, chestnut-brown hair framed a delicate face with bright, lively eyes that seemed to hold a quiet intelligence.

"Ni Yan, what’s the matter? Why do you look so lost in thought?"

The one to ask this question was another female disciple of a similar age and her best friend, Yu Li. Her long, dark hair framed a fair, luminous face, while her bright eyes gleamed with warmth and vitality.

Jolted awake by her question, Ni Yan looked at her before replying calmly:

"It’s nothing. I just found the name of the Beast Sovereign’s successor a bit familiar, so I was wondering if I knew him."

"Hmm... It could be possible since his village was also massacred, similar to yours. Maybe he is from your village?" Yu Li guessed. "Why don’t you try to remember someone with a tiger spirit? There are not many with that cursed spirit!"

"Huan Tian... Tiger Spirit..." As she mumbled, trying to jog her memory, a face flashed in her mind of a boy who had awakened a tiger spirit at the spirit awakening ceremony.

Soon, the memories of him became clear to her; however, even now, she couldn’t remember correctly if his name was Huan Tian or not. That wasn’t important.

The only thing that was important was the fact that this boy was head over heels for her. He had even proposed to her, along with many other boys of the village, promising to join the Beast King Sect and become worthy of her.

Her eyes suddenly lit with joy as she hurriedly held Yu Li’s hand, taking her away from the gathering and informing her of the good news.

"What??!! The Beast Sovereign’s successor was in love with you??!!" Yu Li couldn’t hide her shock, yelling loudly.

"Yu Li, Calm down!!" Ni Yan whispered to her friend.

"Oh, sorry..." Yu Li calmed down before talking in a low voice: "He even proposed to you??"

Ni Yan nodded with a blushed smile, biting her lips in embarrassment.

"WOW!! So does that mean Lord Huan Tian is here for you? Doesn’t that mean you will get to be his wife?" Yu Li joyously expressed her doubts about the future: "Wait! Wouldn’t that make you equal to Princess Fanrong’s status? You could even rise above her in the future!"

Hearing her words, Ni Yan couldn’t help but imagine her bright future with Huan Tian; however, Yu Li’s next words crushed her hopes:

"But... would Lord Huan Tian still love you? Isn’t he a lot higher in status now than the boy who loved you? Moreover, he is accompanying Princess Fanrong, giving his full support to her. Her beauty is renowned throughout the northern Verdant Plains. Don’t you think he could fall for her now?" Yu Li raised her concerns.

Ni Yan instantly refused to believe this as she expressed her trust in Huan Tian:

"No! Huan Tian isn’t like that! How can you talk about your future Brother-in-law like that? Moreover, it has only been a few days since he returned and is accompanying the princess. Do you really believe he would fall for her in these few days? He has been in love with me for his whole life. I’m his first love, but even then, I should hurry to his side, right?!"

Yu Li nodded in agreement to her reasoning: "Yes, we should hurry!"

Back To The Present,

Ashen was stopped by Ni Yan, looking at him in disbelief.

"Huan Tian... It is you..." She muttered with a soft gaze, approaching him with small steps.

Ashen remained silent, trying to understand the situation. This disciple had suddenly approached him when he was about to take his leave from the sect.

It appeared she knew the original Huan Tian; therefore, Ashen couldn’t act recklessly here. She might find out he wasn’t the original Huan Tian.

Of course, he could just say that he didn’t remember her, evading all this hassle; however, that would give rise to suspicions.

He only had his cultivation and age vouching for his identity; however, other than that, his origins were suspicious.

If he could gain a witness that belonged to the most valuable sect of the tribe, wouldn’t that be enough to justify his identity?

No one would doubt his identity then. Even if he failed, there wasn’t much loss, so he decided to play along with her.

"I thought you died when our village was massacred two years ago..." She gently held his hand, feeling relieved as she continued: "Thank the heavens, you are alright!"

"Huan Tian, you remember me, right?" She asked, looking at him with an expectant gaze.

Yu Li stood at a distance, keeping an eye on both of them.

Ashen, who had no idea about her identity, gave a vague reply:

"Of Course, how can I forget someone from my village?"
