CHAPTER 269: COOPERATION!

Half an hour before midnight,

As the beasts were thinned down to only forty king realm spirit beasts, the righteous and demonic tribes looked towards each other warily, waiting for the other to make the first move.

They knew the time to go after the treasure had come; however, the one to move first would be targeted by everyone.

If a single tribe attempted to take the treasure for themselves, their whole group might be annihilated by the combined force of other tribes.

They knew that the other tribes wouldn’t sit still if they went after the treasure so openly; however, they also knew that staying still wasn’t an option.

The righteous tribes were better off in this case. They had already promised to cooperate with each other. At least they won’t allow any of the demonic tribes to take the treasure.

The remaining beasts who guarded the treasure were also wounded and not in full health. They knew that they would need to take advantage of the discourse in the human cultivators.

Each one of them had thoughts running in their heads on how to act.

Being stuck in a stalemate with each other, they didn’t have any other choice but to communicate with their respective righteous or demonic tribes.

Identifying this first was Yedu Wuyan as he yelled, "Princess Mei Xueyao! Lord Qin Feng! Princess Fanrong! What do you think of cooperating once again?"

Mei Xueyao also understood that cooperation was the only way to move forward as she nodded in agreement: "Alright. Let’s cooperate."

Qin Feng and Fanrong agreed too, before Qin Feng asked, "Then how about my group go after the treasure while you protect us from the righteous tribes and spirit beasts’ attacks?"

"Huh?" Yedu Wuyan wasn’t convinced with his suggestion, as he questioned, "Why your group? Do you really want to take advantage of us so openly?"

Of course he wasn’t trusting of Qin Feng.

Why would he act as the meat shield for others?

"Of course my group should go. Blood qi arts are most effective in this situation." Qin Feng explained, trying to convince others. "Your poison takes time to take effect, and you are more suited to deter the enemy from a distance using your poison."

He then glanced towards Mei Xueyao and continued: "Princess Mei Xueyao, you can put the enemies into illusions and create chaos among them. Your skills will be of essence in making way for our group."

Next, he shifted his gaze to Fanrong: "Princess Fanrong, your group has a huge number of enslaved spirit beasts. They can easily defend my group from others."

"Lastly, my blood arts can easily pave a path for us the fastest. Only my group is suited to lead us to the treasure!" He spoke in a righteous tone, his eyes fiery with determination.

Huh? Since when was Qin Feng this smart? Yedu Wuyan was surprised to see Qin Feng analyze the situation so correctly. He analyzed our strengths with a glance and created a perfect plan. Sure, we should utilize our strengths in an optimal manner instead of using them for what they aren’t suited for.

Moreover, I cannot retort to his reasoning. My poison is more suited to deter the enemy, unlike his blood arts.

However, this still doesn’t make me trust him.

"Hmm..." Yedu Wuyan nodded, appreciating his analysis. "Wonderful. Qin Feng, I cannot deny that what you say makes sense. However, the real question is—why should I allow you to get your hands on the treasure? I fail to see how that benefits me in any way."

Even though Yedu Wuyan knew that this method was the most optimal for them to get their hands on the treasure, it still wouldn’t benefit him in any way if Qin Feng was the one to get his hands on it.

He needed some kind of promise from him that would give him the trust and motivation he needed to act.

And as if ready with his answer, Qin Feng replied confidently, "Prince Yedu Wuyan! I, Qin Feng, the deputy lord of the Xue Mo Tribe, hereby promise that if you help me get the Eternal Life Dew today, my tribe will share this treasure with you. I simply ask that you let me use it first!"

He then bowed towards Mei Xueyao and Fanrong, announcing, "I extend the same promise to the Mei Hua tribe and the Zhuji tribe."

Hmm... this can be a beneficial deal. This treasure replenishes once every hundred years, so if each tribe accepts his offer, we will get to use it once every four hundred years.

But is that it? Can’t I gain something else from Qin Feng for this favor?

Yedu Wuyan contemplated internally, rubbing his chin in thought, when he suddenly heard Fanrong’s calm voice:

"We accept. Lord Qin Feng, we shall cooperate with you."

Hearing this, Yedu Wuyan’s pupils shrunk in shock.

She made up her mind this fast? This is unlike her...

Fanrong’s agreement only pressured him into making an early decision.

If Mei Xueyao also agrees, then I will be the last to agree.

Qin Feng might change his mind and refuse to accept me.

Even with the Mei Hua tribe and the Zhuji tribe, he will have a good chance to get his hands on the treasure.

He might feel that he doesn’t need the Yedu tribe’s support.

If we are cast out like this, the righteous tribes might target us, making this my final day alive.

"I too accept! Huh?"

Mei Xueyao and Yedu Wuyan spoke together at the same time, surprised by the coincidence as they looked at each other before Yedu Wuyan hurriedly looked away to not fall under Mei Xueyao’s spell.

"Good. Now that all agree. Should we begin?" Qin Feng spoke with a satisfied smile before glancing towards Ashen for a brief moment, wondering in his mind:

Everything went as he told me.

Before I thought that making the demonic tribes work together was a pipe dream; however, he really made it happen.

Moreover, he even pressured the Yedu and Mei Hua tribes with the Zhuji tribe’s agreement.

It’s nice that he isn’t my enemy and is on my side.

Facing him might be terrifying...
