CHAPTER 325: CHAPTER-325

It reminded her, ironically, of her earlier days with the wolf tribe. Back then, too, the nights had been filled with cries—but at least those wolves had a limit. This place? This was limitless.

By the time the moon sank lower, Kaya had given up on sleeping.

Being a light sleeper was already a curse—but when she wasn’t utterly exhausted or drugged by poison, sleep never came easy.

And this noise made it impossible.

Finally, with an irritated huff, she turned to the man clinging to her like a vine.

Veer was sprawled halfway across her, one leg hooked over her stomach like a possessive cat.

"Move," she muttered.

He didn’t even twitch.

Kaya narrowed her eyes, then gave him a solid kick.

Thud!

Veer rolled off the bed and hit the floor with a heavy sound, his hair falling over his face.

Still asleep.

Kaya just stared at him, deadpan. Then she rolled her eyes and muttered,

"Unbelievable. He could probably sleep through an earthquake."

Sighing, she sat up, running a hand through her hair. "Looks like I’m the only one suffering tonight," she murmured under her breath.

Kaya didn’t sleep peacefully the entire night.

By the time the first light of dawn began to peek through the bamboo gaps, exhaustion finally dragged her into a shallow slumber.

But apparently, even God didn’t want her to rest.

Because just when her mind began to drift into a faint dream—

Caw!

Caw!

Caw-caw-caw-caw-caw!

Not one.

Not two.

But eight roosters decided to scream their lungs out right outside her window.

Kaya’s eyes snapped open.

Her face flushed red in sheer disbelief and irritation.

Her head throbbed like a drum, her temples pulsing with the kind of fury that could melt iron.

She sat up slowly, breathing heavily through her nose, muttering under her breath, "You’ve got to be kidding me..."

Then, without a second thought, she swung her legs off the bed—and promptly stepped on Veer, who was still sprawled on the floor like a dead log.

Her foot pressed down on his stomach as she climbed over him to reach the window.

Veer let out a strangled groan, his eyes snapping open just in time to see Kaya, hair wild and eyes blazing, march toward the window like a sleep-deprived demon.

Kaya threw the shutters open and shouted at the top of her lungs,

"Shut up before I roast you, you damn bastards!"

Her voice carried across the courtyard like thunder.

And, strangely enough... it worked.

The roosters went silent.

Not a single caw after that.

For a moment, the world was blessedly quiet again.

Kaya exhaled sharply, muttering something that sounded dangerously close to a threat, then shut the window halfway.

Without even glancing at Veer—who was now clutching both his chest and stomach, trying to remember how to breathe—she climbed back over him, crawled into her bed, yanked the hide over herself, and closed her eyes as if nothing had happened.

Veer lay there, staring blankly at the ceiling, completely stunned.

In a low whisper, he muttered to himself,

"...Remind me never to wake her before noon."

That day—maybe because Kaya had stayed awake the entire night—she ended up sleeping straight through the day. Literally. She didn’t wake even once.

Cutie and Veer didn’t even dare to disturb her. They still remembered the way she had shouted that morning, and they were one hundred percent sure—she hadn’t just been warning the roosters. That was a message meant for them.

If they even thought about waking her up, she’d probably kill them without a second thought.

So, that day, all three of them quietly stayed inside the house, not daring to step out or make a sound.

Literally, Kaya woke up just as dawn broke. Sitting up on the bed, she blinked around the room, still half-asleep. Veer was lying on the floor—just like yesterday—but this time, he was a bit farther away, right beside Cutie.

Seeing that, Kaya frowned in confusion. Wasn’t he sleeping over here last night? How did he end up there? Maybe he had rolled over in his sleep. With a soft sigh, she decided to ignore it.

She pushed open the window, letting the cool air of dawn rush into the room. Taking a deep breath, Kaya whispered, "Thank God."

But soon, a small crease appeared on her forehead. Wait... it’s still dawn? Did I only sleep for a few hours? She rubbed her eyes, disbelief flickering in them. Somehow, despite barely sleeping, she didn’t feel tired at all. Her whole body felt... refreshed, almost energized.

The sound of rustling woke Veer and Cutie. Both stirred, blinking toward the window where Kaya stood, gazing outside. As Veer sat up, rubbing his eyes, Cutie shifted back into his human form.

Kaya turned toward them with a soft smile. "Good morning. It’s still so early, huh?"

Cutie and Veer exchanged wide-eyed glances, utterly dumbfounded. Neither of them could believe it—Kaya didn’t even realize it was the next day. They looked like someone had just told them the sun revolved around the moon.

But... they were so scared of Kaya that not a single one of them dared to argue or step outside. They just froze in place, silent as statues, silently begging the universe that Kaya wouldn’t notice their sheer panic.

"Um... it’s the next day," Veer finally muttered, his voice trembling like a leaf in a storm.

Kaya blinked at him, one eyebrow raised. "Yeah, it’s the next day. Of course. What else? Should I consult a calendar too?"

Veer gulped loudly. "Um... sweetheart... you slept yesterday... and just woke up now."

Kaya’s lips twitched, half-amused, half-exasperated. "Ohhh... THAT’S what you were trying to say! Could’ve just said it straight instead of turning it into a math problem!"

Kaya stretched her arms lazily, letting out a long yawn that made the room echo. "Anyway," she said, flopping back onto the bed, "what’s for breakfast? And don’t tell me... nothing."

Veer and Cutie glanced at each other, their faces pale. "Uh... we can... uh... make something?" Veer stammered, still terrified of accidentally saying the wrong thing.
