Wandering Meteor
Chapter 396 - 395 Black Hole and White Hole
CHAPTER 396: CHAPTER 395 BLACK HOLE AND WHITE HOLE
After a system-wide revelry, the Wandering Alliance sobered up.
Constant Star Lu Chen convened a post-war summary meeting, primarily to summarize some lessons learned during the war, and to agree on the use of the spoils.
Regarding the lessons learned, there is no need for elaboration. Constant Star Lu Chen mainly praised the performance of the White Dwarf Battle Star in the war and officially announced the deployment of the White Dwarf Battle Star, marking the successful completion of the fourth phase of the New Star Project.
What’s actually important is the use of the spoils. In the war with the Dense Civilization, the Wandering Alliance’s spoils included some materials previously plundered by the Dense Civilization. These materials, due to their distance, were not devoured by the Black Hole Black Star and were thus preserved; the second spoils are the Black Hole Black Stars themselves. However, currently, it should be noted that the term "Black Star" should be dropped, as the intentions of the Black Star have been obliterated by the information shock, leaving only the black hole itself, which has swallowed a massive amount of mass from the Dense Civilization and turned into a gigantic black hole.
Scientists have calculated that this black hole is almost comparable to the one at the center of the Galaxy Nebula.
As for the utilization of these two types of materials, the first type is rather straightforward. Constant Star Lu Chen absorbed all materials, which had been broken down into atomic states, into the Heliosphere, including the remnants of the destroyed Dense Battle Star, ultimately increasing the Wandering Star System by more than three thousand Constant Star Masses.
While this may seem like a lot of mass, it is merely a drop in the ocean compared to the total mass of over one million and five hundred thousand Constant Star Masses of the Wandering Star System.
The use of the second type of materials is more controversial. Weapons experts believe that the black hole should be made into a unique defense line for the Wandering Star System. Although this plan has not yet been created, scientists believe a feasible solution will soon be proposed. However, experts studying black holes argue that the Celestial Body Capture Device should be used to capture the black hole; firstly, to facilitate the Wandering Star System’s navigation, and secondly, to enable continuous research on the black hole. They believe that studying the black hole and uncovering its true nature is much more important than using it as a defensive weapon.
After all, black holes have always been one of the most mysterious entities in the Universe.
Even now, as a Level 4 Civilization, the Wandering Alliance is still unable to venture into a black hole.
After taking both viewpoints into consideration, Constant Star Lu Chen feels that studying the black hole is indeed more crucial, and that there might be secrets of the Universe within the black hole that they are unaware of. Although the defensive forces of the Wandering Star System are also crucial, given the current technological level of the Wandering Alliance and the number of Battle Stars, self-defense should be no issue. Hence, Constant Star Lu Chen ultimately decided to direct the use of the black hole towards research.
However, what the Wandering Alliance did not anticipate was an unexpected setback in the execution process.
That is, the Wandering Alliance failed unexpectedly when using the Celestial Body Capture Device to capture the black hole. Each time, just as they were about to cut off the space surrounding the black hole, they failed at the critical moment.
This drew high attention from Constant Star Lu Chen, who immediately communicated with the science team responsible for the project to find out the reasons for the failure.
To Constant Star Lu Chen’s surprise, even these knowledgeable scientists did not know the cause.
Generally speaking, when a Celestial Body Capture Device fails during operation, the system would indicate the cause of the failure. However, this time, while attempting to slice the space around the black hole, the device emitted an overload warning and then malfunctioned.
The science team tried six times, and six Celestial Body Capture Devices were scrapped.
Originally, the scientists wanted to find differences through multiple tests to identify the cause of the failures, but unfortunately, the results were the same each time, with no new information.
In the end, with no other options, the science team asked the relevant factory to produce a more powerful Celestial Body Capture Device. After all, the damage to the former six devices was due to overload; thus, they decided to start by solving the power issue. Although there are many reasons a device might issue an overload warning, power is usually the most significant factor.
Thanks to the technological level of a Level 4 Civilization and modern manufacturing, the specially approved ultra-powerful Celestial Body Capture Device was produced in just three days. This newly manufactured ultra-powerful Celestial Body Capture Device, due to its increased power, was also significantly larger, typically Celestial Body Capture Devices are the size of a basketball with a power of about 90,000W; but this ultra-powerful device was twenty meters long and nine meters wide, with a super high power of 900,000W. It could not be operated by a single person and required large machinery for operation, indicating its tremendous power.
However, even this tenfold increase in power resulted in the same situation during the capture of the black hole—the device emitted an overload warning and was subsequently damaged amid flashes of fire and electricity.
This left the scientists in awe—they had already increased the power of the Celestial Body Capture Device by tenfold, but overload still occurred? This seemed improbable, leading scientists to realize that perhaps the problem was not with the power, and they had been studying in the wrong direction.
At this point, a scientist proposed a new analytical direction.
That is to consider the function of the Celestial Body Capture Device itself; the principle of the device is to cut space and capture the celestial bodies within that space. However, since the cutting has repeatedly failed, excluding a malfunction in the device itself, there remain two possibilities—either there is something wrong with the space, or there is an unknown mystery concerning the black hole that is causing the repeated failures.
Strictly speaking, these two possibilities might be one and the same.
That is, the mystery of the black hole itself relates to space, which might explain the inexplicable failures.
After discussions and analysis by several scientists, everyone concluded a likelihood, though still without direct evidence, but currently, it seems quite probable.
This possibility is based on a hypothesis in black hole theory: since a black hole is a bottomless pit devouring matter, where does the material go after being consumed by a black hole?
Current scientific observations only show a black hole consuming matter without releasing it.
According to the theory, if a black hole continuously consumes matter and reaches its pressure limit, it should eventually explode, but no such phenomena have been observed so far. Therefore, one theory in black hole research suggests that the opposite side of a black hole might have an outlet emitting matter, completely opposite to the nature of a black hole absorbing and devouring, which would maintain the stability of the black hole—scientists refer to this opposite outlet as a white hole.
If the other side of the black hole is indeed connected to a white hole, and if the white hole does not exist in this Universe or dimension, then it indeed could explain the failures of the Celestial Body Capture Device’s operations.
