CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: WHY DID YOU MISS THE APPOINTMENT
Qin Junnan took her to Yuehua Restaurant.
Walking into this restaurant again, Gu Yan couldn’t help but think of the first time she met Tang Yuxiu, those memories were simply unbearable to look back on.
She shook her head; how could she think of Tang Yuxiu, that jinx, when she was alone with her senior?
Wouldn’t that ruin the mood?
At this moment, Tang Yuxiu, who was just about to leave his apartment for a meal, suddenly felt a little itch on his nose.
An ordinary yet serious ringtone rang, and Tang Yuxiu answered. The voice on the other end was a man’s, played not by rules, "General Manager Tang, I’m waiting for you at Yuehua for lunch, hurry up and come over."
Tang Yuxiu didn’t even need to think to know the image of the person on the other end of the phone: legs crossed, leisurely leaning against the chair back, hands sprawled out, and if he had a cigarette, it would definitely be hanging from his lips, though he wouldn’t smoke it.
In fact, Xue Jiarui indeed looked like this typical playboy right now.
After hanging up the phone, Tang Yuxiu went downstairs to drive.
Yuehua.
The restaurant manager personally led Qin Junnan and Gu Yan to an elegantly decorated private room upstairs. Gu Yan felt a bit out of place here, but with Qin Junnan, everything else faded away, leaving just the impression that it was a nice place.
Qin Junnan politely helped her pull out her chair. Gu Yan sat down with an awkward smile, "Thank you."
Qin Junnan smiled faintly and sat across from her, handing her the menu, "Order whatever you like, no need to be polite with me."
"Okay." She nodded, taking the menu.
She had been here twice before with Xue Xianglan, so she knew how expensive the dishes were. When Xue Xianglan was paying, Gu Yan didn’t feel guilty, as she was used to it—Miss Xue never lacked money.
But now that it was Qin Junnan, she felt a bit burdened.
After scanning the menu back and forth several times, Gu Yan reluctantly chose a few moderately priced dishes.
Qin Junnan watched her order with a smile throughout, and after she finished, he added one or two more dishes and handed the menu back to the manager.
After the manager left, a waiter brought a bottle of red wine.
Qin Junnan asked Gu Yan while opening the wine, "Would you like a drink?"
Gu Yan shook her head, "No need, I have to work in the afternoon and I don’t really like drinking." She paused and added, "You shouldn’t drink either, you have to drive."
Upon hearing this, Qin Junnan was slightly stunned, and for a moment, an indescribable light flashed in his eyes as he looked at her. He nodded and put down the wine bottle, "Okay, I won’t drink either."
Gu Yan didn’t think anything was wrong and smiled at him.
The dishes were served one after the other, and for the first time, Gu Yan was reserved while eating the exquisite dishes.
When she usually dined with Xue Xianglan, she would gobble it up as if afraid someone would snatch it from her, but now, she was truly eating with the slow grace of a well-bred lady.
"How’s the taste?"
"Not bad, delicious."
Even if it wasn’t good, she would say it was delicious.
Qin Junnan gazed at her with warm eyes, "Gu Yan, there’s a question that’s been bothering me for a long time, can you answer it?"
"What question?"
"Five years ago, when I graduated, I asked you to meet, why did you miss the appointment?" he asked slowly.
Gu Yan’s hand paused as she picked up a dish—could it be that the reason he always remembered her was because she once stood him up?
Indeed, he was so outstanding and with so many people chasing him, he was probably used to being the one standing others up. That one time she stood him up, it left a deep impression on him.
Gu Yan suddenly felt a bit bitter in her heart.
