Water Mage in the Flame Realm
Chapter 277 - 267: The Dead (Part 1)
CHAPTER 277: CHAPTER 267: THE DEAD (PART 1)
Yes, the third time.
The first assassination attempt on Andrew was by the female assassin of the Shield of Flowing Fire.
The second time was not long ago in Yorkshire.
However, in both those instances, the Magic Guild considered Andrew a "backline talent."
Now—after Andrew directly defeated Yorkshire—Madame Dragon Taming completely views Andrew as a frontline talent, just like Orleans.
If possible, Madame Dragon Taming really wanted to call the First Saint Son, but since he was at the Outer Battlefield and couldn’t come, she had to settle for second best—summoning the Second Saint Son, Tiago.
"Tiago?" Capella turned her head, looking as if she still hadn’t quite come out of the snowy scenery. After entering the Royal Court, this Saintess seemed to have begun daydreaming again. Who knows if she was thinking about the king she was to marry.
Madame Dragon Taming frowned. To be honest, even with her own peculiar personality, she often found Capella’s eccentric character and behavior quite troubling.
But she still asked patiently, "Yes, Tiago, has he replied to you?"
"Ah..." Capella seemed to finally snap out of it, patting her smooth, full forehead, and then said lightly, "Sorry, I forgot to contact him."
Madame Dragon Taming: "?"
Even though she was fairly familiar with Capella’s unreliability, at this moment, Madame Dragon Taming still felt her blood pressure soaring uncontrollably.
Unable to contain herself, she shouted sternly, "What did you say? What do you mean you forgot?"
Hearing Madame Dragon Taming’s stern questioning, Flame Turtle instinctively shrank its neck, eyes down, not daring to get involved, appearing as if to avoid any trouble.
Capella, however, seemed completely unafraid, shrugged, and said, "After all, you both just said that once the king exits seclusion, it would be easy to get Yorkshire back, right?"
Flame Turtle thought to itself that this girl seemed absent-minded all the time and even forgot to contact Tiago, yet she managed to overhear our conversation about "getting Yorkshire back" just now?
Capella paused for a moment before continuing, "Since it’s a hundred percent certain that Yorkshire can be retrieved, there’s no need to summon Tiago, right?"
Hearing Capella dare to talk back, Madame Dragon Taming’s short brows immediately stood up, and a storm quickly gathered between them as she angrily said, "What do you know? What I said was the most ideal situation! Yorkshire has already fallen into the enemy’s hands, after all. Even if the Warm Fire Commerce Association eventually returns Yorkshire, they’ll definitely use it as leverage to gain more advantages! That’s why Tiago should be summoned just in case, shouldn’t he?"
As she spoke, anger grew, and Madame Dragon Taming felt her emotions, which had been calmed after being subdued by Catherine, again becoming a bit agitated by Capella.
Especially seeing Capella’s indifferent attitude, Madame Dragon Taming felt like punching into cotton: "What kind of attitude is this? Do you really plan to face both Barbara and Andrew at the same time?
Or do you think the Warm Fire Commerce Association would be kind enough to voluntarily return Yorkshire to us?!"
"I’m back." A voice called out.
The room’s door was pushed from the outside, and the wind and snow immediately blew in.
A figure, draped in snow, entered through the door.
Madame Dragon Taming, who was angrily reprimanding Capella, looked at the figure in astonishment, almost doubting her eyes for a moment.
Not only Madame Dragon Taming, but Flame Turtle also wore a face full of surprise and shock.
Because the person who arrived was none other than Yorkshire, the Third Saint Son, just recently "released" by Andrew!
Yorkshire had returned.
Just as Andrew had planned.
On the way back, Yorkshire was quite certain that after reunifying with Madame Dragon Taming and the others, he would understand why he had been released.
However, at this moment, looking at Madame Dragon Taming and Flame Turtle’s expressions as though they’d seen a ghost, Yorkshire couldn’t help but feel... bewildered once again.
Anyone could see: The two esteemed figures, Madame Dragon Taming and Flame Turtle, didn’t know why he had been released either!
They absolutely wouldn’t have these expressions otherwise!
Indeed, Madame Dragon Taming’s voice rang out: "Yo... Yorkshire?! How... how did you return?" Before Yorkshire could reply, Madame Dragon Taming suddenly seemed to realize something, her face changed, and she stepped quickly to Yorkshire’s side, looking outside the door, vigilant in expression.
She had already calculated everything, including the strategy after the king exits seclusion and various possible variables, believing it to be foolproof.
But just as predicted in Andrew’s plan, Madame Dragon Taming didn’t expect Yorkshire to voluntarily return before the king exited seclusion.
Seeing Yorkshire return at a completely unexpected time, Madame Dragon Taming was shocked, then quickly reacted, instinctively thinking Yorkshire had escaped.
If he escaped, there couldn’t be an exclusion of the possibility of pursuing soldiers coming along!
Her gaze icily swept past outside the Stone Tower, with magic power silently circulating within her, carrying a hint of Dragon’s Roar around her.
However, after glancing for a moment, nothing was outside except a vast expanse of white. As far as the eye could see, the Royal Court’s predominantly white buildings and the likewise white snow blended together, everything looking normal, with no sign of pursuing soldiers anywhere.
"So... should I still contact Tiago?" Capella’s voice came over.
Madame Dragon Taming trembled, slowly turned her head, glaring at Capella, and enunciated slowly, "What did you say?" Her blood pressure was on the verge of exploding.
Seeing the situation about to go awry, Flame Turtle could no longer pretend to be uninvolved. He quickly stood up and shouted, "Capella, say less!" Then he tugged on Madame Dragon Taming and looked at Yorkshire, asking, "What happened? How did you return suddenly? How did you come back?"
Yorkshire hesitated slightly and truthfully recounted what had happened.
However, unwilling to mention his defeat at Andrew’s hands again, he vaguely said that the Warm Fire Commerce Association had released him, without stating that it was Andrew who released him.
Madame Dragon Taming and Flame Turtle didn’t doubt him, mainly because they wouldn’t think Andrew had the authority to release Yorkshire on behalf of the Warm Fire Commerce Association. They just frowned and asked, "So... you were released, not... didn’t escape back?"
Yorkshire nodded, his face filled with shame.
Without speaking, Madame Dragon Taming directly grabbed Yorkshire’s hand, beginning to inspect whether he had been tampered with in any way.
A mocking sneer crept onto her face.
So, it’s come to this strategy? thought Madame Dragon Taming.
This kind of releasing prisoners on the battlefield has happened as early as in history.
It seems to release prisoners, but actually, it’s a piece placed behind enemy lines!
Madame Dragon Taming had no doubt regarding Yorkshire’s loyalty, believing firmly that Yorkshire wouldn’t do anything betraying the Magic Guild.
But Dean Charlie, a master in magic under Falk, certainly could release Yorkshire while secretly planting something in his body!
"How’s it?" asked Flame Turtle softly after waiting quietly for a while.
Capella finally stepped away from the window and walked over.
They saw Madame Dragon Taming slowly release Yorkshire, shaking her head: "No traces of tampering. Absolutely none."
"..." Flame Turtle frowned, "Not any trace at all?"
He well understood his professional partner’s skills and could see that the spell used by Madame Dragon Taming just now, "Hunting Style," from the Hellfire Series, was specifically for dispelling all sorts of latent magic runes, formations, and imprints.
The Tier Nine "Hunting Style" not detecting any issues implied there should be none.
From Flame Turtle’s point of view, even if Catherine made a move to manipulate Yorkshire, it wouldn’t be without a trace. Unless it was of the Realm of Magic Beyond Tier Nine.
The problem remains...
If no tampering was done, then why were they released?
