Water Mage in the Flame Realm
Chapter 62 - 59: Taking Over Wildfire Town
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 59: TAKING OVER WILDFIRE TOWN
"Little Sophie is fine." Aunt Sofia’s voice came over, sounding somewhat discontent yet seemingly helpless, "She said you told her to stay inside some circle, and no matter how I persuaded her, she refused to come out. Now she’s exhausted and fell asleep."
"Uh, this..." Andrew felt apologetic and deeply moved at the same time. He thought the little girl really took his words to heart. Let her sleep now.
The battle had started at night and continued until now; it was indeed quite late.
But some things must be done now.
"Taking down Hubert only means overthrowing Wildfire Town’s old rules.
The new order hasn’t been established yet..."
A particular light flickered in Andrew’s eyes as he constantly motivated himself internally, "I can do it, absolutely! The things I need and must do next, I’ll do them well! Now, I’m already a Water Mage!"
Becoming a Water Mage isn’t an end but rather a real beginning.
Looking at Ivan, he asked again: "Uncle Ivan, where is that helper friend of yours now?"
It’s not just a concern for Andrew but also everyone’s worry.
Everyone turned to Ivan following Andrew’s words.
What Andrew wanted to ask was what everyone wanted to know: "Why would a Desert Hunter bring back a Desolate Beast?
Is that Desolate Beast dangerous?"
Ivan said expressionlessly, "You don’t need to worry; that’s not a Desolate Beast, it’s my dog. I’m afraid it might scare you all, so I let it temporarily stay in the desert area near the town."
Though it sounds incredible, it’s really the truth.
It was indeed not a Desolate Beast, but a hunting dog Ivan raised before his lungs were injured.
Perhaps because Ivan always fed his pet dog with Desolate Beast meat, gradually, the dog underwent some mutation and could grow larger as long as it kept eating Desolate Beast meat.
This is how it turned into its current size and appearance.
Due to its massive size, Ivan couldn’t keep it by his side, so he simply let it go to the desert area near Wildfire Town to hunt and live by itself.
But Ivan himself couldn’t really explain why such a mutation occurred.
At this moment, Ivan didn’t say much, only mentioning it’s not a Desolate Beast but his dog.
Though everyone found it quite unbelievable, since Ivan said so, most people still believed him.
Those familiar with Ivan knew he had a bad temper but was known for being straightforward, so they let out a sigh of relief, "Luckily, luckily, it’s not a Desolate Beast..."
As residents of the Inner Sea Desert, besides the dry weather and frequent fires, undoubtedly the most fearsome are the Desolate Beasts. Each year, there would be at least one "Desolate Beast Sand Tide," a trial none of Wildfire Town’s residents wish to face.
Then Ivan added, "My dog has a name, it’s called Little Ha; please refer to it as such in the future."
Others felt indifferent upon hearing this, only nodding and saying okay.
Andrew almost choked on his saliva, "Looks like a husky, truly called Little Ha."
Seeing Ivan was unwilling to disclose more in public, Andrew refrained from questioning further.
"I’ll ask more when there’s a chance to chat privately," he thought.
After confirming Little Sophie was safe and understanding Little Ha’s whereabouts,
Andrew finally responded to Ivan’s previous question: "These captured Magic Apprentices, let’s just keep them under guard."
Although upgrading the fire extinguishing is possible, Andrew isn’t a murder enthusiast.
In fact, Andrew had some particular arrangements and thoughts for these apprentices who weren’t taken down in the battle.
For now, just detaining them will do!
His gaze swept across, landing on the elderly gentleman from Living People Cemetery with a spade: "May I ask your name?"
"Alpha." The man smiled broadly, "Andrew, you’re our savior; feel free to call me Alpha."
Andrew shook his head with a smile, "I wouldn’t dare. Alpha, sir, could you help oversee these captives?"
From the previous battle, it seemed Alpha’s strength was, aside from Ivan, the strongest among their allies, making him the most suitable candidate for the role of ’Prison Guard’ at the moment.
As for the detention site... Andrew recalled there’s an abandoned underground warehouse on the town, suitable as a temporary holding point.
"Alright. No problem!" Alpha pounded his chest audibly.
Then Ivan interjected: "Others have been tied up, shouldn’t pose much threat anymore. But these two..."
Pointing at Cook and Sally, "They might be difficult to guard."
Andrew acknowledged with a nod and raised his hand, two "Long-range Water Needles" directly punctured Cook and Sally’s limbs. The injuries were controlled to restrict their movement ability while remaining at a level Andrew could manage to heal.
Though he didn’t intend to kill these prisoners, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t take drastic measures. These people aided Hubert earlier! Andrew wasn’t soft-hearted; instead, after continuous fire extinguishing upgrades, he realized he had to intentionally restrain his murderous aura.
Andrew’s actions made everyone’s eyes twitch. The Andrew who previously roared that not a single civilian could be harmed treated the enemies with utter ruthlessness.
Ivan shrugged, saying nothing further. Knowing that like this, Cook and Sally, no matter how skilled, couldn’t pull off anything tricky.
Andrew continued, "Regarding the captives, let’s deal with them like this.
As for everyone, take a good rest after this.
Except for the injured. Later, I will treat everyone who was hurt in the battle. Especially you, Uncle Ivan!"
Looking solemnly at Ivan, "Your lung burn still has a deeply hidden injury not fully healed. According to our agreement, I’ll heal it completely for you later. Otherwise, if left untreated and it worsens by combining with the injuries you sustained from Hubert’s attack, it won’t be easy to manage.
Ivan: "..."
He was aware of his injuries.
What he didn’t expect was Andrew decisively wanted to heal him entirely without leveraging the injury for demands or negotiations.
Having encountered some incidents years ago, Ivan’s confidence in trust between people was shaken.
While his lungs suffered from daily scorching pain, his heart seemingly started forming a fortress of ice.
At this moment, this Desert Hunter gazed into Andrew’s eyes, held the stare for a moment, then nodded and said deeply, "Alright."
Henceforth, everyone’s gazes toward Andrew began to change rather intriguingly.
The oldest Mister Delin hesitated a bit and asked in a low voice, "Andrew, what are you planning to do?"
Initially assuming there was a personal feud between Andrew and Hubert.
Having taken down Hubert, there should be no follow-up.
Many of the older folk worried that without Hubert, Wildfire Town might plunge into chaos.
But now it seems Andrew is arranging the captives’ detention and supervision, helping heal everyone, and what next?
Is this a plan to replace Grand Mage Hubert and take over Wildfire Town?!
