Way of Overlord
Chapter 51: Unexpected Guest
Chapter 51: Unexpected GuestHe checks the points he has and he check the point he needed to use and a smile form on the corner of his mouth
"Just the right point. Or maybe, this is the way the system screwed me over" The points that he needed to rank up [Unbreakable] to Apprentice rank is four points.
But he could not complain and he could only accept it
"Rank it up"
The skill points turn zero. And Aeryon quickly opens up his [Unbreakable] skill window
"There is also a change]

[Unbreakable]
It is a skill derived from the Strength attribute. With this Unbreakable skill, the host body becomes tougher and more resilient.
The host body can withstand more physical damage than other people, allowing the host to stay in the fight longer and to survive encounters that might otherwise prove fatal.
The Unbreakable skill can be upgraded as the host increase the proficiency of this skill, increasing the host resistance to damage even further.
With this skill, the host can become a nearly indestructible force on the battlefield.
[Your body now could turn to steel for 5 second. The effect of this change could not be seen by others unless they posses some kind of observational power]
[This skill is related to strength attribute. The higher the level of the strength, the more powerful this skill becomes]

"Turn to steel?"
Aeryon look at this and he could not help but feel like this skill is more overpowered than he thought
"It is basically a mini-invincibility buff" he thought to himself
With this kind of ability, he does not have to worry about being stabbed. Unless someone have a powerful enough strike to pierce steel, this could be a considered a lifesaving skill.
"Open the status window"
He thought in his mind

Aeryon nodded seeing his status window. Then he look toward the distance. The sun is slowly going up
It would not be long now before the sun will reach above his head. Sear?h the N??eFire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
"I should return to the tribe now" he wanted to check on the storage and he wanted to check on his army.
No one knows but he is fighting against time here. And he is fighting against uncertainty. In the book he reads, the Steppe was never united.
If it did, it would have been mentioned in the book. What it did mention however was that Nurshira would one day be taken over by one of the warlords.
One of these warlords then slaughtered all of the foreign races. They did unspeakable thing and then move the people of Yan there.
Aeryon short term goal has always been to unify the Southern Great Steppe. And then his long-term goal is to unify at least half of the Great Steppe
At first he wanted to unify all of the Great Steppe but when he consulted with Mayeux, he now found out that the Great Steppe is so large that some of it have a different climate altogether.
If he could unite even half, controls all of these tribes under his rule, a million men army is not a dream but a reality
At that time, he could sweep the world simply relying on the numbers. He had another target after he have enough soldiers
There is another goal he wanted to achieve. And that is to take Nurshira and from there pierce through the Central Plains and bring down the Yan Empire.
There is Empires on all side of the Great Steppe. It is ironic however that they did not even think of trying to conquer the Great Steppe.
From what Mayeux told him, most of these empires only subjugated a few tribes near their border
They did not find the lands of the Great Steppe to be something they wanted.
And they disdain the people of the Steppe calling them barbarians.
Roma is too far.
And the other one that Mayeux told him is unknown
What he means by unknown is the military strength, the terrain of that empire, the military, nothing. Unless he went to the North and see it for himself, he would not be stratified.
So, the most suitable target is Yan.
And what is have to do with time. It had a lot to do with time.
There will be a time when the warlords, the princes of the Yan empire, the opportunist, all would converge in the Central Plains.
They would fight each other there and that is the perfect opportunity to take the North.
Because of that he is in a race against time. He needs to create a powerful enough force that could occupy the North and then from there he would use the strategy of appeasement.
He would insert a thorn into this large Empire and then at the same time uses the resources that he could gain from the North of Yan Empire to bolster his army.
His army would then unify the Steppe. Of course, this is the best-case scenario. There is many things that could go wrong with this. He has his plans and he bets that other people also have their plans.
That is his goals. But he also know that it is not easy.
"I could only try to take it step by step" he mutters to himself
He consider many things before putting Yan into his plans.
One of the reasons is because of the need for talents. Aeryon has a big plan in his mind. And for this plan to be realized, he needs many people
But not just any people. People with talent. Talent like administrating cities, training armies, leading soldiers, governing and building
And that is not something that he could get in the Great Steppe.
Talent like that bloom rarely in the Steppe. This is because of the culture and environment of the Great Steppe.
These kind of talents about governing, administration talent, building structures requires certain knowledge.
But the culture and environment of the Great Steppe rarely could produce such a person.
Mayeux is the exception not the norm
After all, to the people of the Great Steppe, could you eat arithmetic?
Could you eat philosophy? Could a pen block a sword?
No. You could eat, and your sword could cut through anything.
Then there is no need for the pen and there is no need for philosophy. The people of the Great Steppe did not waste their time singing or trading poems with each other
Each man, each person in the tribe have a task to ensure that the tribe could survive another year.
This is the difference in culture and environment that created different kinds of people.
He could try to reform the tribes but education is not cultivated in a day. Unless the system gives him pill to make people smarter all of a sudden, he needed talent.
And even though the warriors of the Steppe is all over the Great Steppe, millions of them, separated by tribes, what they lack is education.
Usually with that many people, it would be easy to solve certain vacancy in certain role. But, the talent that Aeryon needed to materialize his dreams requires a different kind of talent
The kind of talent that is rare in the Great Steppe.
In battle, they are unrivalled.
In bravery and in horsemanship, compared that to any young man of the Yan empire, and Aeryon is confident that the people of the Steppe would excel in all of these categories.
But in innovation, they lack the patience of the settled communities.
Aeryon understand that sometimes geography determine the fate of the people living there.
And there is difference between the settled people and roaming people like the people of the Great Steppe.
He wanted to imitate a tried and tested method.
Conquer and take the talent of that place. Right now, he is also doing the same thing.
For the conquered tribes, all of their young warriors is now being absorbed to his military. What the tribes of the Great Steppe have is not an army but merely horse riders.
They lack control and organizational structure. Aeryon however did not yet impose any organization structure. First, because the current method works
Second, it is because the time. The time for them to familiarize with each other is still low. It is only a few days after that victory.
It is unreasonable to want them to suddenly become a trained military in just a few days.
" I need to give them time" Aeryon always had to remind himself to not be rash in making any moves.
"It’s time to go back. Mayeux might be looking for me by now"
Aeryon let out a sharp whistle, piercing through the air and echoing across the vast expanse of the Great Steppe.
He chuckles a bit
"I don’t know if this one is my skill or his skill" he thought to himself
In response, his horse in the distance perked up its ears and swiftly galloped towards him.
Aeryon laughed
He did not have a pet
But he thinks that this is the kind of feeling he would have if he have a pet
The rhythmic sound of hooves pounding against the earth grew louder with each passing moment.
As Aeryon prepared to greet his horse, a peculiar sensation tingled at the back of his mind. Something was amiss.
His keen senses heightened, he scanned the horizon, and there, emerging from the distance, he spotted another figure on horseback.
A sense of unease crept over him, causing his brows to furrow in concern.
Before he could react, a chilling sound pierced the air, a horse’s distressed neigh carried by the wind.
"Who is that?" he thought to himself.
This area is near his tribe. There should not be any threat
But even as he wanted to convince himself, he felt more and more that something is wrong
Aeryon gaze narrowed as he observed the stranger swift and unexpected movements.
In an instant, the unknown rider drew a bow with practiced ease and notched an arrow, aiming it directly at him.
"Shit!" he cursed
