CHAPTER 549: BEGINNING OF SUMMER

Aeryon sat in his palace today and sighed

"By now, the news has been spread. I hope this would redirect them"

Aeryon is in the palace today. After a week, most part of his inner palace has been completed.

The area of the Steppe that he is in is not as barren as some other parts of the Steppe.

There is rivers and there is lakes, so one did not have to worry about water.

There is also large boulders full of stones and swampy area so one could mine the stones and bake the mud

There is forest near the Wall so one could get wood.

This is also the reason why the Southern Great Steppe has more established clans and tribes that stay in one place and create settlements.

They are not as monadic as the other part of the Great Steppe.

Fertile land is not in abundance but that did not mean they did not have fertile land.

But compared to Yan which have a lot of fertile lands or Yindu which is protected in many sides with mountains and also have a lot of fertile land, it is no wonder why people of those two lands refers the Great Steppe as a harsh and unforgiving places

It is because of this feature of the land that Aeryon could create such a city and create such a palace that is as grand as the one in Yan or Yindu.

Of course, the size of his city is not as big as Chang’an or Luoyang. Aeryon would be an idiot to build such a large city from the get go.

It would take ten years or more to create such a large city.

Instead, Aeryon combined the architecture of the Roma and the Steppe design and create a city that could grow as the population grew.

What he truly wanted to create was not a city but a symbol of his power that would make the warriors of the Steppe turns their hearts towards him.

Today was supposed to be a good day.

But for a week now, Aeryon could not concentrate.

Why? Because since the battle between her and Ayera, Ayera had some complications that made Aeryon heart feel heavy.

He had send all kinds of Ashana and tabibs, medicine man and none of them could tell him what is wrong with her. Even though he goes to the barracks and goes to supervise the soldiers, his heart is not in the training.

And he also neglected in studying the martial arts or strengthening his body.

Is it because he loves her so much that he forgot and neglected all of these things?

He just feel a little bit guilty. If he had intended to really kill her and put her in such position, Aeryon would never be softhearted.

But he had never from the very beginning wanted to harm her.

At least not to this extent. He already knows how pitiful she is and he understand her frustrations

Hence, he wanted to tame her.

But he did not want to put her into a coma.

From all the words of the Ashana, Tabib and medical man that had examine Ayera, she is fine. There is nothing wrong with her internal organ, and there is nothing wrong with her energy

In a way, her body is fine. But for some reason, she is unconscious.

Aeryon taps his finger on the low table and drink a sip of water from the porcelain cup. The warmness of the water is not register in his mind

And then he sighed

"Was Ashana Angah was right?"

Angah told him that he knows someone who could heal Ayera. But this person, this strange person from distant land must always stays with her.

Of course, from what Ashana Angah implies to him, this person is not a common person.

Hence, why Aeryon is calling him strange person in his mind

And considering of the things he had deduced, Ashana Angah is also not a normal Ashana.

What he means by this was that when dealing with other Ashana, Aeryon did not feel that these Ashana possesses any great wisdom

Wisdom here does not refer to worldly wisdom. But to a more abstract and subtle art of magic.

From what Aeryon understand, magic was never subtle but, in this era, those who could use magic has always been hard to found

As for innate born people, there is still that kind of people running around all over the world.

But magic?

This power to control the heaven and earth and to use the power of the heaven itself is rare and it is like tale of immortals which is hard to find.

But Ashana Angah gives him that feeling. There is more to the eyes. And he is always wary of Ashana Angah.

Precisely because of that feeling

Things he couldn’t really control, things he couldn’t really understand. Nothing is more terrifying than the things that is unknown and something you could not understand

And because he doesn’t know if he should allow the person that Ashana Angah recommended to really stay with Ayera.

It is the aura that person emanate. In his world, he would hardly believe things like aura. But in this world, aura is quite real.

"that person....doesn’t feel like a person at all"

Aeryon had met this person that Ashana Anagh try to recommend to him.

He wears a mask.

And he would not take it off.

The mask itself is terrifying. It reminds him of an Oni mask. But the design is more terrifying, there is fangs and horns and there is a certain ominous aura that sometimes emanated from him

But if that is the only thing about this mask, Aeryon would not describe it to be terrifying.

It is the fact that the mask seems to be melded with his face. Like it is burn and seared into the skin.

A part of the face itself. Just this weirdness alone deters him.

Aeryon really could not describe it in any other way, other than ominous.

And he seems to possess certain aura that is quite similar to Ashana Angah.

Feeling like a mysterious person.

Aeryon had been hesitating.

Because he doesn’t know what that person wanted. This person wanted to save Ayera?

Why?

And that person simply said it is a favor for a friend. Angah assure him that he is not lying. But even if he speaks the truth, this reason alone is hard for him to accept.

It is this why that make him unbale to trust this person.

Angah on the other hand just said that he would tell all of the truth if Aeryon agrees to it. Aeryon ask, is Angah threatening him

That old man on the other hand shook his head. He just said these words because he believes that Aeryon should know some things

But these things relates to her wife secrets. Hence, only after her wife is conscious, Ashana Angah would feel at ease sharing the matter.

Certain things had to be done first. Angah even told him, that time is on his side. Angah told him that his wife is not experiencing physical pain and she is not in any danger

Other than exercising her muscle a few times a week, Ayera would not have danger even if she sleeps for a year

Instead, he ask him a question

Would you like her to be unconscious for a long time or do you want her to wake her up?

Ashana Angah was not informed of the battle and he should not have known about what happens in the pavilion.

Of the many people that inquire about that matter, Ashana Angah is not one of them. Yet, he seems to knows everything without ever appearing in the scene and without ever inquiring.

This is why he is always wary of Ashana Angah

But his question made Aeryon thinks.

There is even a whisper in his own heart thinking and feeling that this might be for the best.

After all, she is unconscious and certain things could be done without worry but the moment these thoughts enter his mind, he shook it away

Doing the right thing does not always gain you the biggest benefit.

Most of the time, doing the right thing always put you in danger.

Aeryon is not Genghis Khan who did not care at all of the woman in his harem and treated people and his wife nothing as tools.

There are always discrepancies between him and this era

Because he lives in an era where great things and good things is possible. His era was also not a peaceful era.

But he knows that the ideals could be realized. Because he had seen it happen. And with the systems he had, he could even made many ideals come true.

One mistake could be an eternal regret.

So, he had been hesitating for almost a week.

Just the fact that there is this kind of secrecy made Aeryon feel a little bit wrong with this situation.

At that time, it was two days after Ayera fell unconscious.

Two days of Ayera just sleeping and not getting up

It was then that Angah introduced this person to him.
