After hanging up, Julian gave Jude a meaningful look.

Julian then said, “Mr. Halston, I need to go pick someone up.”

Jude’s heart pounded. ording to Julian’s tone, this person must be someone critical!

Kaia, hoping to take the chance to sneak out for some stomach medicine, excused herself to the Graves Group representatives and stepped outside.

Shortly after she left, Lucien walked in, nked by Julian and Jude.

His sharp eyes swept across the room, and he raised an eyebrow.

Where is she?

The Graves Group employees immediately stood up, calling out in unison, “Mr. Graves!”

Holy shit, it was the actual Lucien from the Graves family. bThis /btrip had definitely been worth it!

Julian moved to give up the head seat for Lucien, but Lucien waved him off casually. “I’ll just sit here. Is this seat taken?”

He was pointing to an empty chair.

“Uh, sure!” someone replied.

Julian’s heart jumped. he knew Lucien always kept his distance from women–but right next to that empty chair… sat Kaia.

Two secondster, Julian figured it out. Maybe he had introduced the Vanguard Law Firm members too quickly, and Lucien hadn’t realized that Kaia was a woman.

Kaia grabbed a pill from her purse and swallowed it dry, then asked a server for hot water and gulped it down. Finally, she felt better.

Kaia stared at the only empty chair,pletely spaced out.

Lucien’s lips curved in the faintest hint of a smilei. /i“Ms. Domont, aren’t you going to sit down?”

His tone was utterly casual and indifferent.

Jude had no idea about the rtionship of Lucien and Kaia. He assumed Kaia was too nervous to move after seeing such an important figure.

He gestured with his eyes for Kaia to take her seat.

Everyone was giving her weird looks, so sheughed awkwardly. “Sorry about that. I was just so surprised to see Mr. Graves.”

Lucien drummed his long fingers on the table, finding it strangely amusing to hear her address him so formally.

Jude smiled and raised his ss. “Mr. Graves, Kaia might be a bit nervous today. Please don’t take it personally. Let me toast to you.”

With that, he drained it in one gulp.

Lucien’s eyes dropped to scan the wine sses scattered across the table. Then he said, “Sorry, Mr. Halston. I’m not drinking these days. Shall we switch to water instead?b” /b

“I need a ss of warm water.”

Everyone stared at him in shock.

But no one dared to argue. Within minutes, all the wine sses had been swapped for water.

Then something even more surprising happened.

Lucien slid his ss of warm water over to Kaia–right there, in front of everyone.

Kaia froze.

“You look ufortable. This should help,” he said.

His tone was steady, like it was just a simple act of courtesy.

Kaia blinked and quickly understood. Lucien didn’t know she’d broken off her engagement with Alden yet–he was still

Thinking this, she forced a polite smile.

“Thank you for your consideration, Mr. Graves.”

After that, worried about revealing too much about her connection with Lucien, Kaia withdrew from the conversation and quietly focused on her meal.

Meanwhile, Jude chatted animatedly with Lucien.

Lucien didn’t say much, but Jude could sense he was in a good mood.

The cheerful atmosphere made him feel confident that Vanguard Law Firm had a real shot at winning the contract.

But the next day, after returning from the Graves Group, things suddenly became tricky.

Back at the office, Jude’s serious face appeared as he rapped on Kaia’s desk.

“Come to my office.”
