Chapter 289 Divorce Demands

Kaia teased him on purpose, grinning slyly.

“Oh, just some cute guy I ran into in the elevator. Insisted on carrying my stuff. No idea whichpany he’s from. Crazy I never noticed him before.”

“You wouldn’t dare!” Lucien growled, yanking her into his

    arms.

“Don’t you dare ask around! That guy’s a walking skeleton in sses. What’s cute about that? Cuter than your husband?”

Kaia burst outughing. Since when did Lucien start handing out nicknames?

“Oh, please. You used to love wearing sses when you were trying ito /iwin me over!”

She hooked her arms around his neck, leaning in to blow a soft breath into his ear. “Wait… now I remember. You wore sses on purpose back then, didn’t you?”

She’d figured him out. Lucien wasn’t even nearsighted. He’d faked dropping those sses to get her attention.

Lugien cleared his throat awkwardly. “My eyes were.chy 5:44 back then.”

“And don’t change the subject!” Lucien huffed. “We’re not done talking about that guy.”

    “Alright, alright,” Kaia said,ughing now.

“He’s my new assistant, okay? I bought too much stuff, and he saw me struggling–you know, big belly and all—so he helped carry it. I was just messing with you.”

Lucien frowned. “Can’t they get you a female assistant instead?”

Kaia blinked at him yfully. “Wow, Mr. Graves. Getting a little possessive, aren’t we?”

Lucien pressed his lips together, trying not to let his jealousy show–but his sulky expression gave him away.

That night, Lucien’s bath towel slipped off at some point. Careful not to press on her belly, he lifted Kaia onto hisp, showering her with kisses.

A cascade of kisses rained down, warm and insistent.

    Desire red, spreading like wildfire.

Since her pregnancy, Lucien’s kisses had always been restrained, but tonight was different.

    “Lucien…” Kaia murmured.

He didn’t seem to hear, his fervent kisses trailing lower.

Kaia, mindful of her pregnancy, fumbled to push him back. “Lucien, the babies–we can’t hurt the babies.”

Breathing heavily, he rasped, “It won’t hurt them. I’m not… going there.”

Kaia’s face burned at his words.

    “Lucien…”

Her body trembled under his kisses, her voice tinged with a whimper.

Only when she was exhausted from it all did Lucien finally let her go.

After all that effort, he figured she wouldn’t be calling her male assistant cute anymore.

Nothing had really happened, yet it felt like everything had.

Not just her back, her arms were sore too.

She shot Lucien a resentful re.

Allen, noticing, assumed Lucien had upset her again.

“Kaia, did Lucien make you mad? Tell me, and I’ll set him straight.”

Kaia forced a smile. “No, Allen, it’s fine. I’m just annoyed he was snoringst night! Kept me up.”

Lucien’s lips twitched, but he didn’t argue. “My bad. It won’t happen again. I’m sorry.”

Allen thought it was an easy fix. “Lucien, since when do you snore? Watch your heart. Don’t end up like Zane with heart issues. Kaia, if he’s too loud at night, make him sleep in the guest room. You’re pregnant; you need your rest.”

“No need for that,” Lucien said quickly. “I’ll see a doctor today. Starting tonight, no more snoring, I swear.”

Kaia stifled augh. “Allen, let’s give him one more night to prove himself.b” /b

She suddenly realized having Allen on her side was a handy way to keep Lucien in check.

After breakfast, as Lucien drove Kaia to work, Joanne showed olli/li/ol

Her face was icy as she sat in the Graves Manor, a chill settling over her.

“Zane, is this how you treat me?” she demanded.

Zane, knowing he was in no position to argue, kept his tone calm.

“Joanne, I’m sorry. This is the best I can offer. Our families still have business ties. And don’t worry–even if we divorce, Alden’s still our son. We’ll stay in contact.”

Joanne could hardly stand hearing it. At her age, being dragged into a divorce scandal felt like social ruin.

“Rest assured,” Zane added, “the Graves family’s assets will go to Alden. My shares won’t go to anyone else.”

He paused, then said quietly, “What happened with her was a mistake. I’m not making excuses. It happened. And I’m trying to make it right.”

But Joanne wasn’t having it. Her face hardened.
