Wedding My Ex’s Uncle
Chapter 28 See you tonight
Kaia never really expected to get the shares. She smirked a little. “So who’s actually paying for the nursing home?”
Sally’s face turned dark. “I am.”
She said it slowly, through gritted teeth. “I’ll pay for it.”
Finally, the whole mess was over.
Kaia didn’t push the shares any further.
She helped ire pack with a big smile on her face.
Then she grabbed the card with 500 thousand from Sally’s hand and drove ire back herself.
Sally just stood there on the curb, fuming, as they drove off.
She took it out on Tobias. “Tobias! Howe you never told me your mom still owns five percent of thepany?!”
She would’ve never found out if it wasn’t for today.
Tobias took a second before answering. “Dad gave it to her. What did you want me to dob, /bsteal it?”
“Then what about that 15 percent bKaia /bwas talking aboutb?/bb” /b

Tobias took a second before answering. “Dad gave it to her. What did you want me to do, steal it?”
“Then what about that 15 percent Kaia was talking about?”

So she married into this family, gave him all these years, and didn’t get a single piece of the pic.
Tobias looked away. “We’re family. No point fighting over bwho /bowns what. Everything I have goes to Kimberly anyway.”
What really ate at him was not having a son.
Two daughters meant everything he built would eventuallynd in some outsider’s hands.
That thought made his stomach turn.
But Sally was done ying nice. She’d just dropped half a million and got doused like a dog.
Hell no!
“Then buy Kimberly a vi. This ce is old, we should move.”
Tobias‘ expression tightened. “Thepany needs cash. Just give it time. I made a promise to Kimberly, and I’ll keep it.
“Right nowb, /bwe just need to make sure Kaia marries Alden without any more drama.”
He knew he wouldn’t get any real sleep until that wedding happened.
Once the Graves and Domont families were officially connected,

bthat’s /bwhen he’d finally feel secure.
Kimberly had stayed out all night partying with her friends. She didn’te back until noon.
“Mom? Where’s Grandma? Didn’t you bring her homest night?” she asked.
Sally was still fuming. “She went back already.”
Kimberly looked totally lost. “What? Why?! I saw Kaia at Redblossom Restaurantst night and told her Grandma was here. Why’d you send her back?”
Sally just red at her.

Sally sighed. “Whatever. Your dad said after Kaia’s wedding. he’s getting you a vi as your wedding gift.”
“For real?!” Kimberly’s eyes lit up.
One of her girlfriends had mocked her yesterday, saying her family was broke. Once she got that vi, she’d rub that girl’s face in it.
Then she frowned. “Wait… Kaia’s really marrying Alden?”

Sally gave her a cold smile. “Kimberlyb, /blet that boy go. He’s bnot /bright for you. Sure, he’s the eldest grandson of Sir Graves, but he’s not running the show.
“He’s just heading up some side branch, and you know full well what’s going on between him and Luna.”
When Kaia got married, it wasn’t going to be some perfect love
story.
Sally never thought this marriage was worth being jealous over.
“But…” Kimberly pouted.
It still stung. That was the Graves family.
Sally patted her hand. “Think bigger. Alden’s not the only bachelor in that family.”
Kimberly blinked, and then something clicked.
“Mom… are you saying…?”
Sally gave a slow, knowing smile. “Yeah. He’s the real power in that house. If you catch his eye, Kaia won’t be the one who marries rich. You will.”

After making sure ire was settled. Kaia headed to the firm that afternoon.
Jude’s office was empty. It felt weird not seeing him there.
“Where’s Jude?” she asked.
Warren leaned in. “Mr. Miller’s office. Mr. Lambert is in there,
too.”
Kaia raised an eyebrow. Everyone knew Alex Miller had two top deputies and they couldn’t stand each other.
Warren lowered his voice. “It’s about the Graves contract. Jude went in to fight for it.”
“They were about to give it to Jude, but right before signing. Mr. Lambert called them and said he’d sh his rate by five percent. So they ghosted Jude.”
Kaia’s eyes widened. “What? That’s just stealing!”
Warren gave a bitter smile. “Exactly. I’ve never seen Jude this pissed. He almost chewed Mr. Lambert out right there.”
Kaia sat down and thought it through.
This contract was really important to her. It would give her a serious edge in the next round of promotions.

But this was their firm’s internal fight. She couldn’t drag bLucien /binto it.
It wouldn’t be fair, and it definitely wasn’t her style.
She stared at the chat box, then deleted the words she’d just typed.
A message soon popped up.
Lucien: [Got something to say? You’ve been camped out in my chat box for half an hour.]
With a tter, Kaia’s phone fell to the ground.
Warren leaned in. “Kaia? Are you okay? Still upset about Jude and Milespeting?
“Don’t worry. Miles shed his rates maliciously just to steal Graves Group’s agency contract from us. Once Alex knows the whole story, he won’t take Miles‘ side.”
Vanessa chimed in. “Not necessarily. I heard someone has connections with Graves Group.”
“Who?” Kaia and Warren asked in unison.
“Her!” Vanessa lowered her voice. “Jude’s ex–wife!”
Kaia’s eyes widened.

Kaia felt like her world was crashing down.
Her hands shook as she held the phone to her ear. “Mr. Graves, I’m so sorry… Would you believe me if I said this was all just a weird ident?”
Lucien smirked. “An ident? You mean you randomly opened my chat, spaced out for thirty minutes, identally called me, and let me listen to your whole office gossip?”
Kaia wanted to crawl into a hole and just die.
Finally, she squeaked out, “Yes!”
Lucien kept pushing. “That’s quite a story. But here’s something crazier–I’m heading near your officeter. Dinner to discuss these ‘idents“?”
Kaia let out a defeated sigh.
Could she say no?
Not a chance.

“Sure, Mr. Graves.” She forced it out.
