Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse
Chapter 64: The Might Alpha Roran
CHAPTER 64: THE MIGHT ALPHA RORAN
The next morning, Alpha Roran rose from his slumber in a foul mood. After last night’s discussion, he finally made up his mind to do something. He got up to leave the camp they had made, but to his surprise, his sister was already awake.
Her eyes were baggy as if she hadn’t slept the whole night. She didn’t even notice him; instead, her eyes were locked deep inside the forest as if searching for something longingly.
"What’s wrong?" he asked, his words startling her a bit, and she quickly turned in his direction.
"Oh, Roran, you’re awake."
Seeing the sad look on his sister’s face, he couldn’t help but feel a bit worried.
"Is something the matter?" he questioned once again.
She looked at him with teary eyes but then quickly wiped her tears away.
"It’s my son. He didn’t return from when he left last night. I went out to look for him, but I couldn’t find him. I even asked Nyra if she knew where he went, since the two of them have been getting close, but she doesn’t know anything. I don’t know what else to do."
Her son... That young man struck Roran as a bit of a weakling. He remembered how Kaelen described how Liam watched like a coward as his family was in danger and made his sisters fight on his behalf. Roran wouldn’t be surprised if one of the Nyx pack members got to him. He was probably dead, he thought, but didn’t utter a word of this to his sister, Lisa.
He knew how much she loved her family, and just the thought of one of her sons being dead would be enough to break her. Instead, he decided to play the supportive younger brother.
"I’m sure he’s fine. You know how kids are at his age, always running off. Just make sure to discipline him when he returns," he said, tapping her on the shoulder.
"Thank you for saying that; I will," Lisa nodded. "But, what are you doing up so early?" Lisa asked, eyeing him inquisitively.
"I’ve decided on something last night during our discussion. I’m going back to speak to Danzo about the marriage proposal."
"You can’t; he’ll kill you!" Lisa blurted out after hearing what her brother said. "That man is always looking for a reason to shed blood. Going back will only give him more reason to shed yours."
"I know the kind of man Danzo is. He is ambitious. All he cares about is ruling over the largest pack in the territory. That’s why he waged war on us. But if I can find a way to give him what he wants without any bloodshed, then it will be worth it."
Lisa understood her brother’s logic, but still, allowing him to put himself in danger like this felt wrong. She cared a lot for her younger brother and didn’t want anything to happen to him.
"I’ll come with you then," she said, grabbing hold of his hand.
"I won’t allow it," Roran said firmly. "I’ll go by myself. Your job now is to stay here and watch over my son."
Seeing the stern look on her brother’s face, Lisa knew she couldn’t refuse.
"Okay, I’ll watch over everyone while you’re gone."
Roran put on a faint smile and caressed his older sister’s cheeks.
"I’ll be back soon; don’t worry. If anything happens or if I’m not back by the end of the day, I want you to take everyone and leave."
That was the last thing he said before he parted ways with her and left. The moment he stepped into the Nyx pack territory, he was surrounded by wolves, all of them staring at him with glowing yellow eyes, but none dared step close to him.
He didn’t even spare them a glance as he continued to walk past them, making his way deeper into their territory. Though werewolves were very territorial, an alpha was still an alpha, and none of them wanted to challenge him.
Roran walked through the Nyx pack territory without a care in the world. He was surrounded by over a 100 werewolves who were all keeping their distance from him. They all waited for the moon princess, thinking that she would be able to stop the alpha’s approach, but in their time of need, she was nowhere to be seen.
Soon, he arrived at the entrance to the cave where they had entered yesterday. That was when he met his first opposition.
It was the same guard that had allowed him to enter yesterday. Only he stood up to the mighty Alpha Roran! The man who had slain over a dozen werewolves in battle. The man who for years kept all the werewolves pack in this region in line. They all feared him. Not his pack. But the mighty alpha himself.
They all knew that he could kill them all within a second without breaking a sweat. They also knew that the only person who could stand up to his might was their own alpha Danzo. Even the moon princess would pale in comparison to him.
"I told you if you didn’t leave our territory, you would be killed on the spot," the guard said, his eyes glowing yellow.
"I came here to speak with Danzo," Roran stated flatly.
The guard glared at him before waving his hand. It seemed to be some sort of signal, as the werewolf behind him immediately ran off. A few minutes later, the werewolf returned and whispered something to the guard. The guard nodded, satisfied, before turning back to Roran.
"You’re in luck. Our alpha is in a generous mood today; he asked to see you." With that, the guard turned on his heel. "Follow me."
Just like the day before, he guided Roran through the vast cave system into the large section of the cave where Danzo was.
Danzo was still seated on his throne; only his daughter wasn’t anywhere to be seen. For some reason, he seemed to be in a grumpy mood.
"Why did you come back?" Danzo asked, his voice hoarse and thick. "I told you what would happen if you did, did I not?"
"I wanted to speak with you further."
"There is nothing more to discuss. Unless you came here to surrender your pack to me."
Roran grunted. Danzo’s arrogance was tempting him to act, but he steeled himself.
"I’ve rethought the terms of our deal," Roran said.
"You mean the marriage proposal?"
"Yes. I’ve thought about it and have finally come to a decision." Roran clenched his fist tightly. The next words out of his mouth were something he thought he would never say. A part of him felt disgusted by it, and another part felt proud that he was mature enough to make this decision. "If you agree to the marriage between our children, then I’ll surrender my pack over to you. You will be the alpha."
"Hmm?"
"That is until the firstborn son from my son and your daughter is old enough to succeed you."
Danzo’s eyes sharpened. He too never thought that a deal like this would ever be made. He couldn’t help but feel a bit of excitement stirring in him. Not only would he claim the famous and powerful Lycann pack, but his own daughter would be mated to the alpha’s son. The same son that inherited the powerful curse of their pack.
His blood began to stir as he thought about what his future bloodline would look like. With a wide grin on his face, Danzo answered.
"I accept your proposal."
