What is an immortal?
Chapter 787 - 758: One Punch Determines the Universe
On Spiritual Ape Island, within a cool pavilion.
A middle-aged Taoist with black hair and a white beard, alongside a beautifully dressed woman in palace attire, were sitting next to a stone table savouring Spirit Fruits and sipping Spiritual Tea while chatting merrily.
Suddenly, a rolling voice came, causing both of their expressions to subtly change as they stood up.
"Silver Dragon Daoist, what is this..." the colorfully dressed woman, slightly furrowing her brows, looked towards the middle-aged Taoist.
"Fairy Yun Luo, don't worry, it's an elder from Dongji Palace. I'll go and take a look," the middle-aged Taoist quickly composed himself and said.
"I will come and see too," declared the colorful dressed woman, known as Fairy Yun Luo, immediately.
Silver Dragon Taoist nodded and was the first to move, soaring swiftly, easily bypassing the island's protective Array, and flew out to the island's exterior.
Fairy Yun Luo followed closely behind, also flying out with incredible lightness.
"We've seen Elder Mo." Once they recognized the visitor, neither paid much attention to Yuan Ming and greeted Elder Mo Sanqi with a bow and a fist clench.
"Elder Mo, what kind of wind has blown you my way? Come, come, please step onto the island for a while; we have Spirit Tea and Immortal Fruit ready over there," Silver Dragon Taoist invited warmly with a smile, his eyes, slightly triangular, flicking carelessly over Yuan Ming.
"Silver Dragon Daoist, let's skip the tea. I'm here on official business. This Fellow Daoist Yuan Ming just purchased a Challenge Order at Liuyun Palace and intends to challenge you for the island," Elder Mo Sanqi smiled slightly and spoke bluntly.
Upon hearing this, Silver Dragon Taoist's eyes twitched slightly, and his gaze then turned to Yuan Ming, scrutinizing him closely.
However, he soon made his judgement, at most a mid-stage Nascent Soul, nothing to fear.
"Ha ha, I've waited decades, and finally, someone is interested in my Spiritual Ape Island," Silver Dragon Taoist laughed heartily as if he wasn't facing a challenge but celebrating a great joy.
Having said that, he went forward, extended his hand, and grasped Yuan Ming's palm, looking as if he had met a long-lost friend.
"I have been impolite. I hope you won't take offense, Silver Dragon Daoist," Yuan Ming, though slightly mystified, responded politely.
"Where are you speaking from? Fellow Daoist Yuan, right? You're just following the rules, nothing wrong there. I only hope you can hold back a bit during our bout, and not strike too hard," Silver Dragon Taoist said with a smile.
"It's rare to see Silver Dragon Daoist take action; this trip wasn't in vain," Fairy Yun Luo observed and laughed as well.
"Well, as they say, no fight, no acquaintance. I hope both of you, no matter who wins or loses, can still sit down for a cup of tea afterward," Elder Mo Sanqi waved his hand and spoke.
"Well said, well said," Silver Dragon Daoist's face was full of smiles.
Yuan Ming did not speak, simply nodding silently.
"Shall we get started then?" Silver Dragon Daoist looked at Yuan Ming and said.
Yuan Ming nodded, then immediately positioned himself for the confrontation. Love this story? Show support at *.
"We can't fight here; if it affects the island, that would be bad. Let's go to the sea," Silver Dragon Taoist said.
"Fine," Yuan Ming said indifferently.
Silver Dragon Daoist merely grinned, a hint of scheming flashing in his eyes.
Thus, the group of four quickly arrived at an open sea area with no islands nearby, and formally began their duel.
"Fellow Daoist Yuan, I'm skilled in poisoning, you should be careful," Silver Dragon Daoist warned as he took the initiative.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Ming arched an eyebrow but did not say anything that might reveal his strength.
Silver Dragon Daoist saluted from a distance, his hand reaching into the void. Light gathered in his palm, soon revealing a dark green spear wrapped with a silver flood dragon.
"Fellow Daoist Yuan, be careful."
With a low shout, his figure suddenly turned into a dark green mist, vanishing instantly.
The next instant, he silently appeared right in front of Yuan Ming. His spear spun at high speed, thrusting directly at Yuan Ming's throat like a drill.
Yuan Ming furrowed his brow and, in the instant of his approach, his figure abruptly flashed, skillfully evading and instantly thrusting a fist toward the ribs of Silver Dragon Taoist in a deceptively gentle yet fast blow.
Silver Dragon Daoist could not avoid it and was struck squarely by Yuan Ming's punch.
With a loud "bang," the moment Silver Dragon Taoist was struck by Yuan Ming, he deflated like a punctured ball, his form swiftly shrinking as a large amount of dark green gas escaped his body, instantly submerging the surrounding area in a cloud of mist.
Elder Mo Sanqi and Fairy Yun Luo, originally more than a hundred yards away from where Yuan Ming stood, saw this and swiftly moved back, pulling away as far as possible, evidently aware of the potency of the dark green gas.
At that moment, outside the dark green gas, another silhouette of Silver Dragon Taoist appeared.
"Fellow Daoist Yuan, this poison mist isn't so easy to contend with. If you can't handle it, it might be better to concede early," Silver Dragon Daoist, holding the Ink Dragon Spear, called out with a smile.
"I think, it's still manageable," Yuan Ming's voice came from within the dark green poison mist, calm and steady.
Immediately, he stepped on the void, walked calmly out of the poison mist, fanning his hand a few times in front of his nose and mouth to disperse the mist a little. There was not a hint of anomaly in his whole body, as if the poison mist was just ordinary smoke.
Seeing this, Silver Dragon Taoist's expression slightly tightened, evidently a bit taken aback.
Yun Luo Fairy's eyebrows raised slightly, and her gaze toward Yuan Ming grew more interested.
Mo Sanqi, on the other hand, nodded almost imperceptibly, seemingly pleased that his judgment had been validated, realizing that the cultivator named Yuan Ming was not as simple as he appeared.
"Silver Dragon Daoist, your methods are somewhat too showy," Yuan Ming said, lifting his hands as he spoke.
As the sleeves slid down, his palms and a section of his arms were revealed, where there were dark marks slowly fading, evidently signs of poisoning.
Just now, Silver Dragon Taoist had seemed warmly to shake his hand as if greeting him, but in reality, he had stealthily smeared some kind of plant sap on his hand.
This sap itself was not poisonous and was even colorless and odorless, hardly noticeable, but when it came into contact with the dark green poisonous gas, it reacted violently.
If it hadn't been for Yuan Ming's powerful body comparable to a high-level magical treasure due to his Body of Wanxiang, his arms would have been reduced to mere bones by now.
"Heh, I really didn't expect, Fellow Daoist Yuan, that you are a high-level Body Cultivator," seeing that his trick had failed, Silver Dragon Taoist's lips twitched, and he forced a smile.
Yuan Ming, however, could not be bothered to speak with him any longer.
He stepped forward, quickly activating the Demon Image Prison Suppression Skill. A layer of red steam emanated around him, his aura skyrocketing, giving the illusion of confronting a primeval Fierce Beast.
Silver Dragon Taoist's eyes sharpened, a hint of wariness flashing in them.
He then raised his hand and threw something into the air. The ink dragon spear he was holding flew high up, then flipped and dived into the sea.
Immediately, a fierce wind and enormous waves rose on the water's surface while deep, dragon-like roars echoed from beneath it.
Looking down, Yuan Ming saw the shadow of a massive flood dragon swirling in the waters below, stirring giant whirlpools on the surface.
"Rise!" Silver Dragon Taoist's robe billowed as his hair and beard fluttered. He bellowed a command and lifted both hands.
"Ao..."
Accompanied by a loud dragon roar, a massive, dark green flood dragon burst out from the seabed, its jaws wide open, clawing and trying to swallow Yuan Ming.
Its head bore a silver horn, and its body was covered with armour thick like metal, body bristling with a massive water vapor, the aura it emitted was even more formidable than its master, Silver Dragon Taoist.
Seeing the ink dragon charging fiercely, Yuan Ming remained unafraid. He stepped forward into the void, raising his fist and smashing it toward the ink dragon.
The front end of his fist condensed red steam into a tremendous elephant head.
"Boom" was the sound of a massive explosion!
The elephant head enveloped fist smashed heavily onto the silver horn on the ink dragon's forehead.
Under everyone's astonished gaze, the ink dragon could not withstand even for a moment, and it began to collapse from the silver horn and head, breaking into fragments of scales that exploded outward.
The subsequent force of the punch vaporized the massive amount of water vapor, sending up a great cloud of mist.
With his lifebound magical treasure destroyed with a single punch, Silver Dragon Taoist felt as if a thunder had exploded in his chest. He spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and fell toward the sea like a kite with its string cut.
Mo Sanqi, quick to react, waved his hand to invoke a whirlwind that carried him back.
Taking advantage of his consciousness, Mo Sanqi asked, "Silver Dragon Daoist, are you able to continue the fight?"
The question was tactful; truthfully, it was asking if he conceded.
Silver Dragon Taoist looked shocked, even somewhat dazed, unable to believe that his treasured magical treasure nurtured over many years could be smashed by a single punch.
While he was still in a daze, suddenly Yun Luo Fairy shouted, "Silver Dragon Daoist, do you concede?"
Silver Dragon Taoist snapped back to reality, only then fearfully seeing Yuan Ming approaching with huge steps across the void, his aura not only unabated but even more vehement, even carrying a palpable killing intent.
Without doubt, if another punch came his way, it would be his own body that exploded.
"I... concede, I concede," Silver Dragon Daoist called out in a panic.
As he spoke, Yuan Ming was already less than thirty feet away; he could clearly see a hint of regret passing through Yuan Ming's eyes.
Silver Dragon Taoist felt a chill up his spine and shivered involuntarily.
Mo Sanqi also breathed a sigh of relief, fearful Yuan Ming might 'accidentally' strike a lethal blow to Silver Dragon Taoist.
Such an incident had indeed occurred in previous years.
"I announce that Fellow Daoist Yuan has successfully challenged and become the new Island Master of Spiritual Ape Island," Mo Sanqi rushed forward to declare.
Yuan Ming's previously overwhelming momentum faded away, and he reined all his aura back in, returning to his previous demeanor as he bowed to Mo Sanqi.
By then, Silver Dragon Taoist had also forced himself to fly over despite his injuries.
Yet, at this moment, he had completely lost his initial composure, his gaze toward Yuan Ming now tinged with evasion.
