CHAPTER 340: CHAPTER 340: I THINK I SHOULD BE A LITTLE BRAVER (PART 10)
When Sheng Jianan appeared at the side gate of K University, Tang Yanqi had already come out. The girl’s slender figure appeared even more delicate in the slanting afterglow of the setting sun.
Sheng Jianan parked his car beside her. Tang Yanqi bent down, got in, fastened her seatbelt by herself, and turned her head: "Are we going home to eat?"
"Go home"? The word inexplicably felt warm, and Young Master Sheng’s lips curled into a smile: "Yes, go home."
Tang Yanqi didn’t think deeply about the meaning behind his words. It wasn’t until they had driven a long distance that she realized, Sheng Jianan’s "go home" did not mean returning to the villa but to the old residence.
"The old man was discharged from the hospital, and he mentioned wanting to see you."
So that’s what it was.
Following Sheng Jianan inside, they hadn’t yet entered the house when they saw through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the living room the people sitting on the sofa.
Mr. Sheng sat on one side, with a chessboard in front of him. Opposite him sat Shen Yao, and Mr. Sheng wasn’t there; Mrs. Sheng was bringing a plate of fruit to place on the coffee table.
"Young Master, Young Madam."
Upon seeing them enter, a servant respectfully spoke first, and the people inside turned to look.
Mr. Sheng, after this hospitalization, looked even more haggard, but his spirits were good. He smiled, and upon seeing Sheng Jianan and Tang Yanqi enter, he beckoned them over: "Yanqi, come sit here."
Mr. Sheng never hid his fondness for Tang Yanqi, neglecting even his own grandson to invite Tang Yanqi to sit beside him.
Tang Yanqi obediently walked over and sat next to the old gentleman.
"Yanqi, let me introduce, this is Shen Yao. Yaoyao’s grandfather and I are old friends."
Shen Yao remained gentle and delicate, with a slight smile: "Grandfather, I’ve met Miss Tang before, at the airport when I went to see off my uncle."
"Oh? Is that so? Very good, very good. If I’m not mistaken, you and Yanqi are the same age, right? You should visit more often when you have time."
Tang Yanqi didn’t speak, just kept a smiling face. She didn’t dislike Shen Yao, but there was still some unease in her heart, after all, she was the person in Sheng Jianan’s heart.
"Oh, old man, you’re about to lose."
Sheng Jianan’s careless voice suddenly interjected, instantly changing the atmosphere. Tang Yanqi felt a weight beside her, as the man sat down next to her, resting a casual hand on her shoulder, his gaze falling on the chessboard.
Oddly, Tang Yanqi felt a warm sensation, an indescribable sense of security sweeping over her. She didn’t know if he had noticed her unease and deliberately said so, but his change of topic and this overt display of intimacy in front of others indeed satisfied a small sense of vanity deep within her.
Tang Yanqi instinctively moved slightly closer to Sheng Jianan, bringing them even nearer. Sheng Jianan glanced sideways, a mischievous smile in his eyes.
Tang Yanqi blushed immediately, turned her gaze away, and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Had she been influenced by him? Why did she also do such childish things?
Mr. Sheng casually tossed the chess piece in his hand: "Indeed I lost. Yaoyao’s chess skills were inherited from her grandfather. That old guy, I never won many games against him before."
"Grandfather, you’re joking; you were letting me win."
"Not at all, just outmatched by the younger generation, truly formidable. But as I recall, your father’s chess skills seem even more exceptional."
Shen Yao remained gentle: "Indeed, my father’s chess skills were superb. He often said that it would be great if I could learn even a fraction of his skills."
