"I heard it’s because of Director Shen."

"Director Shen?"

"Director Shen is the daughter of the Shen Family. I heard the Shen Family and the Sheng Family have been family friends for generations. The CEO and Director Shen grew up together, and they’re very close."

"Oh... so that’s why. No wonder Director Shen became a director at such a young age. Look at our director, he only got there after working hard until his forties."

Tang Yanqi listened to their gossip, knowing it was probably just a rumor with little credibility. She believed Sheng Jianan definitely didn’t come because of Shen Yao, but hearing their words still made her feel a bit uncomfortable.

She couldn’t catch what the person on the stage was saying, and it wasn’t until the lights suddenly dimmed that Tang Yanqi came back to her senses.

As the melodious dance music slowly began, many people had already stepped onto the dance floor. In the dim light, Tang Yanqi’s arm was suddenly grabbed, and in the next moment, she was pulled into a familiar embrace.

Sheng Jianan’s hand was on her waist, his other hand holding hers, assuming a standard waltz position, moving slowly to the rhythm of the music.

Tang Yanqi instinctively followed. The Tang Family had actually hired someone to teach her for appearances’ sake in this regard.

Tang Yanqi’s mind went blank for a moment. When did Sheng Jianan come down, and how did he dare so boldly ask her to dance?

Even though the lighting was dim now, Sheng Jianan naturally drew attention. Tang Yanqi, although unable to see, could clearly feel many eyes on her.

"Don’t worry."

A deep voice suddenly sounded in her ear. Tang Yanqi was stunned, looking up into Sheng Jianan’s smiling eyes.

That wild, yet seemingly world-conquering look made him seem like a troublemaker, but it also felt comforting.

The unsettled feeling in Tang Yanqi’s heart suddenly calmed down, and she heard another sentence in her ear: "That was just a coincidence."

The disjointed explanation made sense to Tang Yanqi immediately, and after two seconds of stillness, she suddenly laughed.

She knew it, she just knew it was a coincidence.

After the dance ended, Tang Yanqi learned from Bai Bing why Sheng Jianan told her not to worry. Apparently, each person had a number when they entered, in the order of their entrance, and Sheng Jianan casually reported one which just happened to make Tang Yanqi the "lucky one" to be the CEO’s dance partner for the night.

"Are you happy now?"

Bai Bing teased with a smile, and Tang Yanqi smiled without speaking.

"I never thought so before, but now I think that although Chengzi isn’t reliable, she was right about one thing—your Mr. Sheng is really quite a man."

The Christmas party went on late into the night. At Sheng Jianan’s suggestion, Tang Yanqi left early and waited for him in the car outside. It wasn’t long before Sheng Jianan came out as well.

The two of them didn’t return to the Lake Bay Villa. Instead, Sheng Jianan took her directly to an apartment downtown.

"What are we doing here?"

"Come up and see."

The apartment was unlit and pitch black. Sheng Jianan opened the door for Tang Yanqi, letting her inside.

Tang Yanqi reached out to turn on the light, but her hand was suddenly held: "Don’t move. Be good and follow me."

The room was so dark, it seemed like even the windows were covered, and no light from outside could enter.

Tang Yanqi walked slowly. Something jingled and clattered under her feet, and when they seemed to reach the living room, the person shielding her suddenly stepped away. Then, the room lights came on, and Tang Yanqi squinted her eyes abruptly.
