CHAPTER 56: CHAPTER 56: RETURN TO THE TANG FAMILY (PART 6)

Sheng Jianan just arrived at the entrance of K University when he saw the 120 emergency ambulance hurriedly coming out from the gate. Almost instinctively, Sheng Jianan followed behind the ambulance.

Less than five minutes’ drive from K University is B City’s First Affiliated Hospital. The ambulance arrived first, and through the car window, Sheng Jianan saw Tang Yanqi, still in sleepwear and with her hair disheveled, running inside with a bunch of nurses.

After parking the car, Sheng Jianan got out and quickly found Tang Yanqi, who was wearing sleepwear, among the sparse crowd at the emergency room at night.

"You young girls are really something; you don’t even know how to take care of your bodies. How can you eat so many cold things during your menstrual period?"

A woman who looked to be in her thirties was scolding Tang Yanqi, who appeared meek and admitted her mistake before asking concernedly, "Doctor, how is my friend? Is it serious?"

"She’s fine now, we gave her an injection. You should go and pay the fees first."

"Okay, okay, I will."

Tang Yanqi quickly turned around but only after taking a couple of steps did she realize she had hurried out and didn’t bring her wallet.

Her phone wasn’t with her either, so she couldn’t pay via other methods. Going back to fetch it might take time; though the drive is five minutes, walking is uncertain.

Tang Yanqi felt her head swell with all the coincidences piling up.

After hesitating for two seconds, Tang Yanqi said a couple of words to the nearby emergency doctor and rushed outside. Her only option now was to run back; fortunately, it was nighttime, and there weren’t many people around. Otherwise, she’d probably be seen as a lunatic running in sleepwear on the street.

Tang Yanqi didn’t even wait for the elevator and sprinted downstairs. Sheng Jianan watched her silhouette disappear at the stairwell, being as astute as he was, he already grasped Tang Yanqi’s awkward situation.

She was wearing sleepwear, without pockets, how could she have brought money?

So now she’s planning to run back to get it, in just this set of sleepwear?

Though her sleepwear is quite conservative, but... women generally don’t wear undergarments with sleepwear, right?

Sheng Jianan felt a flash of irritation inside, without further thought, he noticed the elevator next to him opening and quickly stepped in just as the door closed.

Tang Yanqi sprinted downstairs without delay, running outside as soon as she exited the emergency building doors, suddenly her arm was grasped by a force.

"You... who..."

Instinctively turning back, upon seeing the person behind, Tang Yanqi was completely dumbfounded.

The hospital’s bright white lights shone, and Sheng Jianan, casually dressed, stood behind her with a frown.

Why was he here?

Even the usually calm Tang Yanqi couldn’t gather her wits briefly.

"Why are you running dressed like this? Aren’t you embarrassed?"

Before she could regain her composure, Sheng Jianan’s usual disdainful tone had already reached her ears, as he released his grip on her arm simultaneously.

Sheng Jianan took Tang Yanqi’s phone out from his pocket and tossed it to her: "Your friend called you."

After speaking, he added another sentence: "I thought someone died or something, Tang Yanqi, stop causing me trouble in the future."

With those words, Sheng Jianan bypassed Tang Yanqi and headed straight out, the fact he came tonight already bewildered him greatly, and what he just said was less an explanation to Tang Yanqi for his presence, and more an explanation to himself.

Tang Yanqi stood at the spot dazed for a full three minutes, and when she regained her senses, there was no trace of Sheng Jianan around her.
