SERAPHINA

I curled up on my bed, eyes sharp with frustration. I still couldn’t catch my breath properly from the feeling of his boner against my belly.

‘I won’t sleep!‘ I told myself. Men could not be trusted. He might try something if I fall asleep.

With that thought in mind, I kept my eyes wide open but as minutes dragged on, my eyelids grew heavier with every blink. I jerked my eyes open, just as I started to doze off the ng of the dinner bell startled me. Heart racing, I stared at the wall. Dinner? It was already well past ten. I hadn’t expected dinner sote because we all came back past dinner time.

“Seraphina…” Suddenly Ronan’s whisper entered my ears and my heart jumped out of my chest.

Startled, I tilted my head to find him leaning down to my ear. “W–what?”

    “I am hungry,” he whispered.

“Then why are you telling me? Go and eat. It’s not like I am going to serve you or something,” I stated, clutching the nket tightly around my body.

“Are you not going? I heard your little belly growling earlier…”

My cheeks flushed in embarrassment. How the hell could he hear that kind of thing?! “I am not hungry,” I lied, closing my eyeszily, “I just want to sleep,”

In reality I was both hungry and tired. I was just toozy and I chose to sleep.

to go to the cafeteria. I could have only one of them

Ronan stood straight with a deep breath, “Ohh…then you should rest,” saying that he turned around. My brows twitched. How could this man ept defeat so easily? “By the way, I heard they cooked something new for dinner,” he suddenly said, my ears perking up curiously. What was it? I wanted to know! Ronan opened the door and was about to go when he finally finished, “Spiced Mushroom and Truffle Cream Stew with Garlic Butter Rolls,”

I froze. Wait, did he just say…Spiced Mushroom and….

    THAT WAS MY FAVORITE!!

I was a second away from sitting up in bed even though I had already said so proudly that I was not hungry!

Iy under the nket waiting for Ronan to leave. After a couple iof /iseconds, I still did not hear his footsteps leaving. What was he doing? Confused, I remainedying with closed eyes and thankfully after some time, he left.

The moment his footsteps left the corridor, I opened my eyes.

“It must be delicious,” I signed, throwing my legs out from under the nket, “I should not have said that,” groaning, I rolled on the bed too many times to count until a thunder and lightning struck outside of the window. A secondter the lights went out.

I slowly sat up with a groan, “Why now? I am already hungry,” groaning, I waited for the generator to kick in like the other day but it never happened.

Instead my nose caught a strange scent that was not the earthy smell of dust and rain.

“What is that?” my head snapped towards the door and for some reason Phina woke up in my mind. Something felt unsettled and the air felt tight.

My legs carried me out of the room.

    Chapter 127 A Scent

The corridor was dim and eerily quiet, save for the sound of my bare feet padding along the cold bstone /bbfloor/bb. /bbI /bdidn’t know how I got there. One moment I was lying on my bed restless and tense, and the nextb…/bI bwas /bwalking, drawn by something I couldn’t exin.

A scent lingered in the air.

    It was thick. Feral. Overwhelming.

My wolf stirred under my skin, restless, like she had picked up a signal and followed it ion /iinstinct. My mind was clouded, but not my feet. They moved on their own, deeper into the heart of the Academy where no light touched the corridors.

A part of me wanted to turn around but another part of me that was not in my control wanted ito /ifind it out.

    That’s when I saw him.

A male wolf sat slouched in the corner of the hallway. Shoulders trembling. Breathing uneven. His eyes glowed faintly with heat as his head slowly lifted to face me.

And that’s when I felt it. My senses knocked back. He…he was in rut!

My breath hitched. Shit, I was in the wrong ce. I should not be there.

His eyes locked onto me like prey. A low growl rumbled from his throat, his lips curling, pupils blown wide with lust and hunger. My perfume might’ve masked my scent, ibut /ihis senses were too wild, his instincts too unhinged.

He stood, Took a step forward.

    No, no, no-b! /b

I quickly took steps back, panic crawling up my spine while my mind raced to figure out how to avoid this situation without being charged for the violence as he lunged. But just before he reached me, surely with impure intentions, an arm wrapped tightly around my waist, yanking me back against a solid, unyielding chest.

A vicious snarl erupted, and the next second, the male wolf was on the ground, unconscious.

I gasped and looked up into the unfamiliar warmth and possessive hold of a stranger only to find it was…“Ryker.”

I froze in surprise in his hold. “What–what are you doing here?”

His beautiful blue eyes looked deep into my amber once with a strange calmness that I never witnessed in Ryker before. “I should be asking this question to you,” his eyes flicker once on my cheek when I feel hot and then back to my eyes, “You shouldn’t be iout /ihere. Especially tonight,” he reached out to softly brush his finger through my sweat rolling down to the side of my face.

bI /bflinched at his cold touch and my breath grew even more uneven, “What is this ce?” my voice came out as a whisper, “iAnd /iwhy not tonight?”

Ryker slowly turned me around, his arm still around my waist and made me see the shocking view ahead in the corridor. More than ten male wolves were there…in rut. All of their eyes were on me.

“It’s a full moon tonight,” my heart dropped in horror, my back touching Ryker’s strong chest as bhe /bwhispered in my ears from behind, “And you are in the Academy’s Rut roomb. /b

i“/iiRut /iroom?” my eyes widened as the wolves started getting closer to me and my body subconsciously bslid /bcloser and closer to Ryker’s chest in panic and fear.

“Don’t be scared,” Ryker whispered, wrapping around my waist while he released his bpheromones/bb, /bbbathing /bbme /b

“Fuck off before I tear all of you apart,” Ryker growled, his wolf speaking with him sent chills down to my bones.

I held my breath witnessing the impossible scene of an alpha wolf in rut getting frightened by another Alpha wolf.

I slowly titled my head up and met Ryker’s eyes, “Why are you here?”

A small smile appeared on his lips, “Guess.”

Suddenly I became aware of his scent and my heart disappeared in my stomach in fear. He was in rut too!

I ripped myself away from him, all ready to run when he grabbed me by my arm and pulled me to his chest, “Don’t run,” he whispered.

“What?” I whispered back, locking my shaking eyes with his possessive one.

His face flushed red with the rut and he leaned down to my lips, whispering, “Your warmth is ihelping /ime to calm down,” he moaned lowly, burning his face in my neck shakily,i” /istay with me.”

My heart skipped a bit at Ryker showing his weakness for the first time to me.

Unknown to me, back in the room Ronan stood in the middle of the dorm room staring at my empty bed with two tes of full dinner in his hand. “Where is she?”

    Waitin.
