emThe next morning, I woke up alone in the room. Ronan’s bed was empty. I sat there with the memory ofst night’s argument, seeing it had stolen sleep from me. Two tes of food that I had noticedst night still sat there. Meals were supposed to only be eaten in the cafeteria under the strict room codes but he had still brought it to the room. I lifted the cover to discover that it really was spice mushroom and truffle cream stew. He had not been lying. /em
em“He brought it for us,” Phina stated softly in my mind. /em
emMy grip subconsciously tightened on the te. A part of me imagined him waiting for me in this room so that we could eat together. I reached out to touch the cold food and took a bite of it. It was still delicious. /em
emHis te of food was just as cold and untouched as mine. “He hasn’t eaten as well,” Phina stated. /em
emMy chest tightened as I quickly covered the food and clutched my chest. I should not think about him. He was not like I thought. He was just like other men. /em
emAfter standing there for who knew how long I headed for the shower before the other Alphas woke up. /em
emLater at morning training, most of the Alphas were absent due to injury. My eyes secretly searched while I was taking a run around of the Academy grounds. Ronan was not there. /em
emI bumped into an Alpha because of my distraction. “Watch out,” he growled at me. /em
em“Sorry,” I muttered and ran past him. /em
emEveryone was focused on talking about Grace and Alpha Jude during training. I did not know if she was still in the Academy or if she had left. Though Alpha Jude was nowhere to be seen. Something about the Academy seemed to have changed. /em
emLater, when I entered the cafeteria the atmosphere was lively. Men were being their usual selvesughing, telling dirty jokes, and eating. I was only five minuteste and some asshole ate my share of eggs, sausage, and apple juice. It added anotheryer to my irritation. /em
emGrabbing whatever scraps were left for my breakfast, just as I looked for the spot to sit, Finn was beside me, “Morning,” smiling as he pulled a chair for me. /em
emI blinked at his handsome face and then chuckled. “What’s with you?” /em
emI could not remember him pulling a chair for me before. It was kind of strange. /em
em“You took tired, Seth,” he brushed his thumb under my eyes, “Did you not sleep wellst night?” /em
emI froze under his sudden touch. It was gentle and full of care. “You are not injured, right?” he slid closer to me. /em
emMy heart jumped with this sudden closeness. What was with him all of a sudden? /em
em“Hey, do you want to be called gay?” I stared at him nkly, slowly pulling my face away from his touch. /em
em“Gay?” Suddenly he burst out inughter, “I don’t mind.” /em
emI was dumbfounded. What did he just say? “Did you get hit in the head during a fight with a rogue? You are different than usual,” I rolled my eyes, taking my seat. /em
em“You think so?” he smiled, taking a seat across from me. /em
em“Yeah, you look like a yful teenager,” I chuckle. /em
em“Well I am happy,” he murmured, cing a sausage and egg on my te. /em

emI looked at his share of food in surprise then back to him, “So happy that you are not hungry?” He did not have much left to eat. /em
em“Yeah,” he grinned, “I found out something that I always wished to be true.” /em
emSeeing him happy made my own lips curled up. Finn looked even more handsome while smiling. I wondered what he learned that made him so happy. “Then let’s share your happiness,” saying that I raised my hand to return half of the sausage. “You should taste it. It’s hell delicious,” But he gently stopped my wrist and picked my half eaten sausage and put it in his mouth. /em
em“True, it is really delicious,” he winked. /em
emPhina froze inside me in surprise just like I did. He ate mine…And that wink. /em
emI slowly lowered my gaze and focused on the food feeling strange in my heart. So to lessen the awkwardness between us I asked casually, “Are your injuries okay?” /em
em“Yes, there was not much. A few scratches. I returned to my room but the night was lonely. I missed you.” /em
em“Missed me?” I blinked two or three times. “Were we not in the Nightshade Alley just yesterday together?b” /b/em
em“Others were there. I don’t count that as spending time with you,” he murmured. “I regret leaving that dorm room,” he took a bite of the toast and met my eyes, “I can’t see you whenever I want.” /em
emI paused in the middle of chewing, Finn’s eyes holding me so intently that my heart took a sudden race. Was it my imagination that Finn seemed different today? His way of talking, his actions towards me, and the way he looked at me seemed… /em
emIughed slowly brushing my overthinking aside. I should not read into it too much, “We don’t stay in the room all day, Finn. Only at night. Plus, we are together in the Academy all the time while training, eating, and sometimes in trials too. If you want you cane over to my room to chat when you are free.” /em
emSuddenly he leaned down to the table and touched the corner of my lips, “How about I move back in the room?b‘ /b/em
emI gasped as he brushed the food softly aside, his eyes locking with me deeply, “Then we will be together even at nights too.” /em
emMy heart quickened unnaturally with his sudden touch and the way he talked about us together at night. Until my eyes subconsciously went past Finn. And my breath stuck in my lungs. /em
emRonan was standing there, watching the two of us. /em
emI felt as if my body was locked in ce but my heart was drumming in my chest. His growls from the previous night echoed in my ears as I tore my eyes from him. Then got up to leave, “I am full.” /em
emFinn frowned, “But you did not eat much.” /em
em“I don’t feel like eating,” I smiled and turned to leave. /em
