When The Moon Hides Her Crown
THE ALPHA’S DAUGHTER 44
Chapter 44 Does He Knows
SERAPHINA
Dante’s words clung to bme /blike a bshadow /blong after he disappeared down the corridor, echoing through my mind even as 1 changed in the bathroom stall.
“Disaster always follows bthose /bwho think they can outrun destiny.”
My footsteps echoed too loudly in the empty dormitory hallway, the overhead lights flickering like even they were uncertain. But it wasn’t just what Dante said, it was how he said it. It hadn’t felt like a warning.
It felt like a countdown had begun.
As if I’d already triggered something I couldn’t undo.
What was it?
I inhaled slowly, trying to shake the weight of his gaze–the steel certainty in his voice. But it lingered in my chest like smoke. Thick. Suffocating. Toxic.
What had I done?
I survived. I fought back. I protected myself… my future. But in doing so, had I tugged on a thread that kept something far darker at bay?
My steps slowed as I reached the dormitory floor. My pulse quickened bagain/b, but not because of Dante this time.
Because of him.
Ronan.
The moment I pushed the door open, I felt it a shift in the air. It was thick with tension, heavy with dominance, threaded with something wild and feral. The room was dimly lit and there he was.
Seated on his bed like a fallen king, his posture rxed, but his wolf’s eyes were anything but. Violet and sharp, they burned like twin embers in the low blight/b, blocking /bonto mine with bone–deep intensity.
My heart kicked into a sprint.
I bhad /bhoped–stupidly–that he would’ve gotten bored. That he’d moved to another room. That he was done with me.
But he wasn’t done.
He hadn’t even started, I could tell from his bgaze/b.
“You’rete,” Ronan murmured, voice low and smooth–lethal in its calm. “I was bstarting /bto bthink /byou bran /bawayb./b”
bHis /bgaze dragged bslowly /bbover /bme, possessively, bpausing /bfar too long at my chest.
I froze by the door, hand tightening around the knob. “What bare /byou still doing here?”
He didn’t answer right away. bInstead/b, he leaned back with a slow, predatory stretch, the tight ck shirt clinging to the ridges of bhis /btorso. Shadows curled along his bsharp /bjawline, making him look like he’d bbeen /bbcarved /bfrom storm bclouds /band stone.
“I sold you,” he said evenly “bThis /bbis /bour room now.”
My Ingath caught in my throat.
Had hepletely ignored bwhat /bbI /bsaid? That I wasn’t into men? That I didn’t blike /bhim?
-I
1- told you, I’m noi- My voice faltered.
Before I could fuush, he pulled his shirt over bhis /bbhead and /btossed it aside–never breaking beye /bcontact. The smooth, deliberate way he bmoved /bmade my skin thush despite myself

“What?” bhe /basked, voice slow, dangerous. “Not undressing?”
bPanic /bwed up my spine as realization struck.
I spun around, reaching for the door–but in the blink of an eye, two strong bhands /bpped onto the wood on either side of me, caging me in..
I froze, btrapped /bbetween the cold door and the heat of his body. His bchest /bbrushed my bback/b, close enough for me to feel every breath.
“Seth Darven,” he whispered, his breath warm against my hair as he leaned in, inhaling. “Did you really think you could toy bwith /bme and get away with it?”
My throat dried instantly. His voice, it wasn’t just low. It sank into me, stirring something primal in my wolf, something that bno /bother man had ever touched.
“Did you not realize…” he bcontinued/b, voice a dangerous purr, “that the watch dog byou /bseduced would bite if you tried to abandon him?”
Those words–those wordsnded like bsparks /bon dry tinder.
The moment 1 feh the unmistakable pressure of his chest pressing into my back, my body reacted before I could think. Spinning around, bI /braised my hands to shove him away-
But he was already prepared. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to his chest. “Not again. bTonight /byou are not running
out of this roomb. /b
His whisper sent chills straight to my bones. I mmed my heel into his foot, using the jolt of surprise to wrench one barm /bfree and shove him backwards. Not graceful, not clean–but enough to make him stumble. I didn’t look bback/b. I bran/b. But the next secondb, /bhe grabbed me by my waist and pushed me on the bed.
My body bounced two times on his bed as I watched him climbing on the bed. I turned to get out but he pulled me back by my leg, causing me to fall face–down on the bed. My chest pressed into his mattress, my arms beneath me, and he seemed to be using just enough of his weight bto /bpin me in ce, without fully crushing me.
“What the hell are you doing?!” I snapped, breath catching as panic surged the moment he climbed over me and I realised how dangerous of a position we were in, “Let me go!” I shouted, this time breally /bterrified of his intentions.
He leaned in closeb, /blips brushing the shell of my ear.
“bWhat /bare byou /bso scared of? Me? I wonder why?”
My heart bmmed /bagainst my ribs.
“What the hell are you talking babout/b?!” I bsnapped/b, my voice sharp, but my panic sharper. “bWhy /bthe fuck would I be bscared /bof byou/bb? /bbSure/b, your creepy actions are making my skin crawl, but that’s not fear–it’s disgust.”
I twisted, struggling beneath him. “You’re pinning a man to your bed and asking me, What I’m afraid of” 1 let out a bitter bugh/b. “Is this your idea of bproving /bhow powerful you bare/b? Is this how desperate you are to feel superior–by doing something bthis /bsick?”
If I couldn’t outmatch him physically, I had to get in his head so that I could break this dangerously close proximity. bThrow /bbhim /boff. bPush /bhim back where it hurts bmost/b. His pride as a man.
“Don’t you feel disgusted. Ronan?” Hussed. “Doing this to a bman/b?”
The room drujiped into heavy bsilence/b—bthick/bb, /bsuffocating. For two bseconds/b. I thought I got him bbut /bbthen /bcame a bchuckle/b,
Low Suft. Dangerous.
A shaver snaked down my spine
b“/bMan” he repeated. Its leath grazing my car, cach bword /bbslower/b, darker, more deliberate than thest. “You move too
uefully. Always on alert. bAlways /bcalcting”
Hp igers brushed the curve of my waist and I instantly stiffened

“You dodge every touch like it might burn you. bYou /bflinch when someone brushes passed. You never undress in front of anyone, not once. You sleep fully clothed. You walk like you’re hiding something buried under your skin.”
My breath caught, frozen in my chest.
“You mask your scent. You’ve never shifted, not even inbat.”
He paused, just long enough to let the weight of his words settle into my bones like ice.
“And you shower every night.” he whispered. “Alone. bIn /bthe middle of the night. Like you’re scrubbing something baway /bthat no one’s supposed to see.
I nearly stopped breathing.
Each word carved deeper than thest. He’d been watching me. Not just casually, not in passing.
He’d studied me.
Observed
Measured.
bAnd /bhe’d seen far more bthan /bI ever intended.
“Seth Darven.” he murmured, dragging me out of the storm of my own thoughts.
He hovered above me still–calm, quiet, predatory. Like a wolf savoring the stillness before the bkill/b.
And then-
“And you blook /baway from my manhood when we both had the same beast between our legs,” his hand slid from my waist, slowly rising-
Toward my breast.
“Or not?”
I snapped.
Fueled by sheer panic, I twisted violently beneath him, shoving with every ounce of strength I had. He staggered just enough for me to slip free, band /bI scrambled uprightb, /bheart bhammering/bb, /bbreath shallow.
“If you ever y this sick bgame /bwith me again,” I growled, voice raw and shaking bas /bI yanked open the door. “I’ll kill you.”
I didn’t look back.
I bolted
It bwasn’t /buntil I rounded the corner of the hallway that my knees gave out. I copsed bagainst /bthe wall, sliding bdown /blike a puppet with its strings cut
My blungs /bheaved, bmy /bfingers btrembling /bas I clutched my bchest/b.
