When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 12: Suddenly Hired
CHAPTER 12: CHAPTER 12: SUDDENLY HIRED
The man’s eyes slightly narrowed, ignoring her as he stepped away and left.
He didn’t tell her where he was going, but he left home anyway.
Later, Faye Turner also got out of bed, thinking he must have gone to work? After all, if she’s pregnant, he’d have to earn money for baby formula, adding more weight to his shoulders.
She had arranged to meet her friend, Rachel Sherman, to help out at The Fairy Tale Nook today. Just as she was about to leave, her phone suddenly rang with an unknown number.
As soon as Faye answered, the other party directly asked her, "Are you Faye Turner?"
"Hello, I am."
"Hello, this is the design department of the Prestige Group. Congratulations on being hired. Please come over to report now. The detailed address and office floor have been sent to you. I am Director Peterson."
Faye was completely stunned!
A month ago, she sent out her resume, and when she had lost hope, there was actually a response.
"...and it’s the Prestige Group!!
She couldn’t believe her ears a bit!
"Faye Turner? Are you listening?"
"Yes, yes, thank you, Director Peterson!" So happy indeed.
"Although you don’t have work experience, we carefully reviewed your submitted works, and they truly have their own uniqueness."
"Thank you, Director Peterson, for the recognition! I’ll be right over!"
After the call ended, Faye deliberately opened her suitcase and chose a goose-yellow square-neck dress to put on.
This was the most high-end dress in her suitcase, which she bought for a thousand bucks last year in Solara.
After leaving and getting into a taxi, she called Rachel to tell her that she got hired by the Prestige Group and wouldn’t be going to The Fairy Tale Nook today.
"Prestige Group? Talia Tully, you’re on a lucky streak!"
Rachel was incredibly surprised after hearing this and felt happy for her friend. "It’s a leading enterprise supporting half of Argent’s economy, rumored to have excellent benefits! It’s the dream cradle for countless young people!"
"I feel like I’m dreaming too." For Faye, being able to enter such a big company like the Prestige Group, even if the salary is a bit lower, she would still be very satisfied.
She got off in front of the Prestige Group building.
Through the glass doors, she saw two rows of staff in suits and ties, each looking tall and handsome, evidently well-trained, as if they were there to welcome some big shot.
As she walked closer, she felt the atmosphere was extremely unusual, so serious it was suffocating!
Peeking through the glass doors into the lobby, there were quite a few people standing inside as well.
This lineup probably meant all departmental leaders were present, as each was dressed formally, appeared older, had ID badges hanging on their chests, and seemed full of spirit, not daring to be careless.
Faye had only seen such grand scenes on the news, unexpectedly feeling a sense of solemnity.
Summoning courage, she squeezed sideways in, only to realize she completely clashed with the big environment ahead of her, her goose-yellow dress incongruously mixed in the solemn dark tones.
"Which department are you from? What are you doing here?"
Design Department Director Nancy Jennings, dressed in a sharp black suit and high heels, approached sternly, frowning in reprimand. "Didn’t your leader tell you what the occasion is now?"
Faye immediately spotted the woman’s ID badge on her chest and sincerely responded, "Sorry, Director Jennings, I’m Faye Turner, the new designer. I hurried over right after getting a call from Director Peterson this morning..."
Nancy’s expression changed, "I think you’re tired of living! Can’t you see the situation?!"
"..." Faye, scolded, was a bit confused and didn’t know where she went wrong.
Fortunately, Nancy’s phone rang, and she gave the girl standing in front of her a stern glance before taking the call quickly, "Alright, alright, I know."
After hanging up, Nancy again looked coldly at Faye and spoke urgently, "The new CEO is arriving soon, don’t take the elevator upstairs, quickly find a place to hide!"
"Yes, Director Jennings." Faye still hadn’t figured out what was going on, so she tucked herself into the crowd. What new CEO or old CEO?
Cautiously retreating all the way, fully hiding within the crowd, she overheard some quiet discussions—
"Why assume the position earlier? Wasn’t it said they’d come next month?"
"I heard the new CEO is very young, only 23 years old. According to records, he graduated with a double PhD from the world’s top-ranked university at 20, a recognized prodigy in the business world."
