When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 22: The CEO’s Wife Is Not Easily Provoked
CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: THE CEO’S WIFE IS NOT EASILY PROVOKED
In the elevator, Adrian Lancaster heard the words and couldn’t help but furrow his dark brows, an indistinct emotion in his eyes.
Ivy Jennings’ face turned green with anger. Her gentle smile was obviously laced with sarcasm.
Faye Turner withdrew her smile, intending to step away, but Ivy Jennings directly reached out to stop her.
Faye was getting a bit angry and asked in confusion, "Why are you targeting me? We don’t even have any work crossover!"
The dignified Secretary Jennings was mocked by a young girl, naturally feeling quite displeased!
But she didn’t lose her cool, her eyes cold, as she emphasized, "I’m just kindly reminding you to focus on your work."
"Which eye of yours saw that I’m not focused on work?" Faye retorted, holding the documents.
Ivy was even more choked, gritting her teeth, feeling like she was about to explode.
"Please, Secretary Jennings, put your energy into your work!" Faye said leisurely, understanding her intent, "Also, I kindly remind you, your boss is married."
Ivy’s eyes were covered in frost, "Slandering carries legal responsibility."
"I’m just reminding you, believe it or not!" Faye chuckled lightly, "If you accidentally become the third party, it wouldn’t be a good reputation, would it?"
After saying that, Faye shook off her hand and walked past her, striding away!
"Faye Turner!" Ivy suddenly turned her gaze, saying with restraint, "If you dare spread rumors about the boss being married, you’ll be receiving a lawyer’s letter!"
Faye completely ignored her, quickening her pace to leave, how annoying this woman was!
In the elevator, Adrian Lancaster listened to the conversation between the two women.
His cold and stern face didn’t display any extra expressions, with a subtle emotion hidden in his eyes.
Not long after, Ivy stepped in.
Unexpectedly, she bumped into the dark gaze of the boss. The secretary’s heart jumped, her face turning pale.
"Hello, Boss." She quickly regained her composure, turning to stand by the man’s side, "Which floor would you like to go to?"
"Return to the office." His voice was deep and magnetic.
The female secretary pressed the elevator door close button.
The door closed, and the elevator ascended, leaving only the boss and Ivy in the relatively small space.
Standing beside him, Ivy inexplicably felt a bit guilty, unsure whether the boss had overheard the earlier conversation.
Her image in his mind... no, she had to redeem it a bit.
"Boss." So Ivy spoke softly, "The new employee in the design department, Faye Turner, seems to have feelings for you. I was just kindly reminding her earlier."
After a while, the man slowly spoke, "Matters outside of work, you should pay less attention to." The voice was cold and low, but without any blame.
Ivy’s heart sank a bit. "Yes."
The elevator reached the floor of the boss’s office, and the distinguished man stepped out with his long legs.
The female secretary followed closely, feeling very upset, worried that her image in the boss’s mind would be diminished.
Smart Ivy thought carefully about the boss’s words earlier, which both directly and indirectly were helping Faye Turner.
And Faye Turner could shout the boss’s name in such an important occasion yesterday, a sudden thought crossed her mind—
Could it be that the boss and Faye Turner know each other?
Could Faye Turner be his first love?
At this thought, Ivy’s heart skipped a beat, feeling somewhat melancholy.
Faye Turner didn’t work overtime today, feeling quite depressed because Nancy Jennings repeatedly emphasized not letting her participate in the ’Love at First Sight’ design project.
Back home, she sat cross-legged on the sofa, hugging a tablet, pouring her grievances to Mr. Moon.
Mr. Moon, as a designer, knows the hardships of entering this industry and the intense competition, all relying on work to speak.
So he started to comfort her and encourage her.
Adrian Lancaster returned home, seeing the girl on the sofa chatting warmly with her tablet, her face full of smiles. It wasn’t a voice call, but from her expressions, it wasn’t hard to tell that she was chatting with someone.
Faye glanced up at him, "You’re back from work?"
"Yeah." The man walked toward her, bending down to take the tablet from her hand.
"Hey, what are you doing?" The girl reacted, reaching to grab the tablet, but missed.
He placed the tablet on the other side and then sat down on the sofa, "How’s your first day at work, are you adjusting?"
Faye was a bit surprised. He actually cared about her?
